Koujaku clears his throat and forces a laugh into his voice and tells Aoba that he’s here and that Aoba sounds well.

Aoba laughs and proceeds to tell Koujaku of all the things he’s been up to in Germany. Eventually, Koujaku’s faked, forced laughs turns into a real one too because, god damn it, even if they’re separated by so many miles, Aoba is still the same old Aoba that he loves.

They talk for hours because they haven’t talked in a long time. Koujaku’s laughing and joking and he can almost imagine that things never changed. Then Koujaku hears Noiz’s voice on the line, telling Aoba something, and then Aoba’s telling Koujaku that he needs to go and Koujaku’s heart races and his hands clench the phone tighter and he wants to scream, he wants to just scream for Aoba to not leave him. He wants to tell Aoba that he misses him, that he wishes every single day that he could be the one to hold him.

In the end, he tells Aoba goodbye with a promise of talking to him on the phone again.

He never said anything he really wanted to say.

When he looks up again, he sees that the phone has flown halfway across the room and that his furniture were upturned and torn up.
