SNSD’s Seohyun made a surprise appearance at Samjiyon Band’s special performance in Seoul for the PyeongChang Winter Olympics and Paralympics. She joined North Korean singers on stage and performed “Our Wish”, a song that yearns for the reunification of the two Koreas.  The South Korean presidential office selected 1,550 people to attend the concert: state officials, the mayor of Seoul, representatives of international organizations, reunification organizations, foreign affairs ministry, leaders of industry, and culturally-important artists. In addition, the North Korean ensemble requested Seohyun specifically on the same day the concert was to take place. A pianist of the ensemble stated that, “In North Korea, SNSD is really the best of the best… and North Korea doesn’t have a group that sings and dances, right? Please stop and see, it’s SNSD.” (trans)
