I finally watched that damn movie about the teacher and the rock and one thing I have to say is I really appreciated how Grace and Rocky have insurmountable differences in needs and ability that remain insurmountable and yet they're still the dearest of friends. Grace and Rocky cannot safely cross into the environments the other is comfortable in. Rocky will never see light and color; Grace will never echolocate great distances. What's beautiful is that the story says this doesn't need to be an obstacle at all. The story never fantastically changes things so one can cross over to the other's way of life. These two characters will never be able to safely physically touch and so what? They choose to be in each other's lives and accommodate each other and share as much as they possibly can with each other anyway. (I also really love that Rocky devises the image-to-texture visualizer himself to address some of the perceptual gap, demonstrating ingenuity inspired by the adaptation Grace displayed with the clock face. It just hits right.)

Rocky and Grace are a companionship/empathy triumph story not only about cultural transcendence but also about disability and adaptation to it--statement.

I NEED to give you my take on the Bloodymary reverse au because I LOVE a good reverse AU

SO

Bloodymary reverse AU where Grace is a member of the C.O.I instead of Eden who used to be on their research team but is NOW a teacher to the very few kids they have after an incident ^tm where he disagreed with the rest of his team and presented a CRAZY argument. The C.O.I has run the convict program SO many times with no new results so now they want to try something different. They know a guy, someone without a family, who knows the material, who's very expendable.

Bloodymary reverse AU where Simon grew up in a cult and during a raid by police he killed an officer. As a teenager he was found guilty of manslaughter and nicknamed the butcher by the media. He was slowly rehabilitated and studied engineering in jail and then in school and is so good at it he ended up working in the big leagues, and then working on spaceships. The explosion happened and Simon was there, he was partially responsible and makes a perfect scapegoat. So the choice he's given is go in place of the crew member who died or possibly go back to prison. He tries to choose prison. He never really had a choice.

so i hauve covid rn and i must say, American cold medicine is the absolute bees knees. You go to a UK pharmacy and they tenderly press like eight (8) paracetamol into the palm of your hand... God FORBID you're sick in France, i had to scour every pharmacy in Paris for something that wasn't HOMEOPATHIC PASTILLES. meanwhile last night i took the last of my stash of Nyquil that expired in 2019 and it was like getting hit by a fucking baseball bat (affectionate). press X to timeskip. LOVE me a cheeky little medically induced coma. you can really feel that it's a precursor to meth. i know that everything is fucking awful over there my friedns and my heart goes out to every one of you but if you need one small bright light of national pride in this time of strife please know that i envy you your cold medicine every day

i once took an american antihistamine pill just a basic one for seasonal allergies and i had to immediately lay down and while doing so i vividly hallucinated that i was a steerage passenger on the titanic resigned to my death as my cabin filled up rapidly with water. then i blacked out and when i woke up again my allergies were gone for the entire season.
