Twenty questions for fanfic writers
thank you for the tag @mamuscript!!! I highly recommend checking out their works if you're in the X-Files fandom!
1. How many works do you have on AO3? 18!! Dating back to February 2021. Though 6 of them are anonymous, so you guys won't be able to see those.
2. What's your total AO3 word count? 49,809.
3. What fandoms do you write for? Currently, I'm working on fics for the X-Files and for Percy Jackson and the Olympians. But I have fics from 6 different fandoms published.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
rest your bones next to me (toss your thoughts to the sea)
I look at you like the stars that shine
somebody crowd me with love (somebody force me to care)
I wish I knew you wanted me
5. Do you respond to comments? I try!!! Honestly, I'm not very good at remembering to respond to comments, and then I feel bad when it's been a long time and I haven't responded so I get a little scared and give up. I'd like to get better about responding to comments because they truly make my day.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I wish I knew you wanted me. I don't usually write sad endings, I prefer them bittersweet, but this one is just straight angst.
7. Whatâs the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Either look at me now (will I ever learn) or Keefe, Sophie, and the Mystery Soup, which are both very lighthearted.
8. Do you get hate on fics? No, I received a comment criticizing my Spanish skills recently, which isn't hate. It's just kind of funny because the fic is several years old and and I was very open about it being essentially writing practice.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? I do not. One time I wrote a fade-to-black sort of thing, and that's the closest I've gotten. This could definitely change.
10. Do you write crossovers? Whatâs the craziest one youâve written? I haven't, one set of characters is difficult enough for me.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I hope not!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? No, but I've contemplated trying to translate my own works into Spanish. It wouldn't be good, but I think it could be a cool experience.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? No, but I would be so down for that!! If anyone is interested, ask!
14. Whatâs your all time favorite ship? Oooh. MSR and Percabeth are both up there. Percabeth is a long time favorite, but I've been very very into MSR for the last year or so. Other shout-outs are to lumity and jackieshauna, neither of which I really blog or write about..
15. Whatâs a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I started an X-Files casefic where they're dealing with this fertility cult thing? I have some great ideas, but I don't know where to go with it overall. I also briefly started a Yellowjackets AU where they're a drama club instead of a soccer team.
16. What are your writing strengths? I'm not sure. This is maybe weird but word choice? I think I have a good vocabulary without sounding like I walked out of a thesaurus.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Switching between characters/fandoms. Recently I was writing a Percy Jackson fic, from the perspective of 14-year-old Percy, and I realized I was kind of writing his inner dialogue to sound like Scully, because I've been writing so much X-Files fanfiction. If you don't know either of these characters, this is Wrong.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I've never really done this. I wrote a very very short fic entirely in Spanish once, though!
19. First fandom you wrote for? Keeper of the Lost Cities. I wrote a terrible fic that was about 200 words long and posted it on fanfiction.net.
20. Favorite fic youâve written? somebody crowd me with love (somebody force me to care) is probably my favorite. it's still in progress, but I'm incredibly proud of it so far and the reactions I've received from people are so amazing!!
