To me, this is Ichigo’s darkest moment. Not Hueco Mundo or after this when he loses his powers a second time or later during his zanpakuto struggles. This right here, when he is setting out with the sole purpose of killing someone - not fighting or defeating or accidentally turning someone into dust.
