"Yeah. The ghosts." Tate watched her, "You don’t seem surprised or anything."

"It’s a haunted house, why would I be surprised if there were actually ghosts?" Dee tilted her head, watching him.

"Not at that, but at the idea of ghost in general." 

"They won’t hurt me, but I can’t say the same about you." Tate shrugged.

"The ghosts?" Thankfully, she’d come prepared for such an occasion with a small iron pipe under her jacket.

"Yeah. The ghosts." Tate watched her, "You don't seem surprised or anything."

"Because it’s getting dark and who knows what might happen." 

"Oh. Well I’m not worried about that. Are you?"

"They won't hurt me, but I can't say the same about you." Tate shrugged.

"Right. Maybe you should leave." 

"Hmm? Why’s that?" Deanna looked hurt, even though it was probably in her best interest to do what he said.

"Because it's getting dark and who knows what might happen." 

"Tate. Why do you want to know?" 

"Just like to know who I’m talkin’ to." She winked at him with a laugh.

"Right. Maybe you should leave." 

"You don’t really scare me." 

"I’ll…I’ll call the police on you!"

"They won't come." 

"Because my family always look for me here." Tate shrugged, "It’s hard to explain." 

"Hm. Okay. Oh, I’m sorry. What’s your name, handsome?" Dee asked politely, wanting all the information she could get.

"Tate. Why do you want to know?" 

"What do you mean?" Tate frowned, "I watch them." 

"After you watch, I mean. Why can’t you stay long after that?" Dee tilted her head, eyeing his frown.

"Because my family always look for me here." Tate shrugged, "It's hard to explain." 

"Sometimes. It’s funny to watch. Though I don’t get to stick around long after that." 

"What do you do then?"

"What do you mean?" Tate frowned, "I watch them." 

"If you don’t untie me right now you’ll be sorry!"

"You don't really scare me." 

Tate nodded, “Good. You won’t run scared then.” 

"That actually happens? What pansies." Dee scoffed.

"Sometimes. It's funny to watch. Though I don't get to stick around long after that."
