Thomas Edward Silverstein, a federal prisoner whose ability to wreak havoc in even the most restrictive high-security conditions played a significant role in the creation of the modern supermax prison, died on Saturday, May 11, after more than three decades spent in solitary confinement.

Who Killed Nancy? (2009) is a documentary about the murder of Nancy Spungeon, who was found stabbed to death in a New York hotel room in 1978. Nancy was a figure in the 1970’s punk rock scene, and was widely regarded with disdain by all who knew her, due to her grating personality and penchant for drama and drug addiction. In 1977, Nancy met Sid Vicious, bassist for the notorious punk band The Sex Pistols. Their 19 month relationship was marred by mutual abuse and copious amounts of drug use, and in October of 1978, the couple checked into the iconic Hotel Chelsea to indulge in a heroin binge. Nancy was found dead from a single stab wound to the abdomen, with a knife that belonged to Vicious. The assumption in the following decades has mostly been that Vicious was responsible for her death, despite his claim that he had awakened from a drug induced stupor to find her body. But many theories over the years have questioned whether someone else could have been responsible. Vicious died of a heroin overdose before a trial could begin. Featuring interviews from numerous members of the punk rock scene of that era and people who knew the couple and re-examined NYPD evidence, the film asks the question - Who killed Nancy?
