Visionary

Today, we celebrate the life of a great man who has touched as many lives as those who love him. When I think back, the fondest memories I have with Grandpa are the moments when you sat with him alone. Our grandpa was a man of few words, but when you start to talk to him, ask him to tell a story, or go to him for advice, his speeches flowed with eloquence and wisdom. He loved to teach and his stories became lessons, lessons that will always be imprinted in our hearts. I loved the way he spoke, always with a pause, a yes, and beautiful Chinese phrases that sometimes I did not understand. He believed in the value of hard work and that was the only thing he ever asked of all of us. His favorite present was a good report card or an award, and ours was a thumbs up of approval.

You hear things, and you wonder. You read things, and you imagine. But when you see things, your eyes capture that image and stores it in your mind. And that image is real. What you see is life. 

What if I don't want it to be real? What if I am not satisfied, not content, not fulfilled?

People are so caught up with the fear of “goodbyes” that they avoid such confrontation and instead, end up suffering the slower process of waiting for it to disappear.

Closure seems to be the thing most people lack nowadays. 

The more doors you leave slightly opened, the less room you have for opportunity to open new ones. 

"With benefits, I mean...some benefits."

Is it the fact that you just listen whenever I actually let myself complain? You just listen, when most people would probably try to think up words to say out of comfort. It’s so rare to find someone that has the ability to listen with the most open ears, without one word needed. 

Or maybe it’s because I’ve told you things that I haven’t really.. told anyone else. It startles me that I’ve allowed myself to have some form of dependence when it comes to you. And it’s even more startling that for once.. I’m not really frustrated about it. I usually push these sort of things away.

For the past few years, safe is the feeling you’ve always given me, the stability of friendship that normal men tend to break with their desire for intimacy.
