ngl, I'm kind of surprised that I've seen a few people take issue with asgore going "wow. the way flowery is treating me is kind of a wake-up call, I need to back the fuck off of toriel," talking about it like it's a false equivalence, when it's really obvious that flowery's actions towards asgore are a direct parallel to how asgore has been living his life
like, obviously there's not the same undercurrent of misogyny / entitlement. that is a point of distinction. but everything flowery is doing is still built around the idea of recapturing a Better, Happier Past that has since been lost. he's not "asgore's new best friend" or "asgore's favorite flower," he's Asgore's Best Friend From College (not actually true). he goes out of his way to hide Kris and Ralsei from asgore, and it's hard to see this as anything but "trying to prevent them from getting in the way of our relationship." and while flowery's argument that the flower shop dark world has just as much right to exist as Castle Town is sympathetic, and not even untrue... he's not exactly searching for an equitable solution, is he? he's putting his needs first. and his needs are not "do literally anything about the roaring," they are "do what I have decided is necessary to protect asgore from his own feelings."
and yes, all this is motivated by sincere affection for asgore and a desire to Fix Things. but he can't fix things. he can only delude himself into thinking he's capable of fixing things. if he just solves the truth behind dess's disappearance makes all his stats 99, then he can make the problem go away. if he makes enough grand gestures of affection, then everyone will understand his point of view. his heart's in the right place. isn't that enough? it's supposed to be enough.
also, like... the seven flowers are a wedding bouquet. they are explicitly pulling double duty as "a symbol of everything asgore lost when he drove toriel away by obsessing over Fixing Things." maybe it's subtext but it's not subtle subtext lol
deltarune spoilers but for the literal most inconsequential thing and it's in the first like 10mins of gameplay. and it's probably the only spoiler im gonna post for a couple days

Toriel is in the pilot’s chair, Sans is on shields shields, Alphys is half-inside a maintenance hatch while Asgore hands her tools, and Mettaton is comforting Frisk, but Papyrus is just standing there doing nothing. Psi doesn’t know what to do. It’s terrifying, the sound of laser fire, the ship rolling and yawing through space. Psi can sense the pirate cruiser with powers beyond sight. It’s huge, bristling with turrets and ill intent.
Psi can at least report. Psi reaches out psionically and taps the ship’s systems, transmitting psi’s mental voice over comms. “RED SIX ALERT FROM SHIELDS! ENGINES NOMINAL! ENEMY AT 500 KLIKS, BUT THEY’RE WARMING UP A LARGE REPULSOR BAY ON THE FORE HARDPOINT!”
“Crap. We need our engines working. If they get the repulsor online we’re toast! I can’t hit the fore hardpoint accurately at this range…”
“IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO?”
“Not unless you can stop them getting that repulsor bay online.”
Psi pulls psi’s mind out of the comm bay and focuses on the ship. It’s easy to see the outside, but psi pushes past the crystaliron hull and into the cramped room where the controls are. It’s too far to just short their systems, but the pirate who’s preparing the machine is doing sensitive work. Maybe…
Psi shoves into their mind. “HEY BITCH!” Psi yells into it, as loud as psi can make psi’s mental voice. “YOU MESSED WITH THE WRONG FUCKING SHIP!”
They jump and paw at their ears. If psi can just keep them distracted a little longer, the repulsor will overheat and short out… Psi digs into their mind. They’re terrified of psions, like so many humans. It’s stupid, and it pisses psi off, but maybe psi can make it work.
“I’M COMING FOR YOU. YOU BETTER FUCKING RUN. TELL ALL YOUR PIRATE FRIENDS THIS SHIP IS CRAMMED WITH PSIONS AND YOU BETTER TURN TAIL IF YOU DON’T WANT YOUR BRAINS TO MELT INTO SOUP AND POUR OUT YOUR FUCKING NOSES.”
Psi feels them forget about the weapon. They smash the comm button and start radioing the captain. The ships comms aren’t designed for this, so it’s not easy like it is on the Ebott, but Papyrus doesn’t need psionics to be easy to make them work. They just have to be possible.
Psi forces the sound of psi’s mental voice through the comm. “YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE FUCKING MESSED WITH US. EVERYONE ON THIS SHIP IS A PSION. I’M THE STRONGEST OF US. BUT I’M A NICE GUY, SO I’M WARNING YOU. RUN. RUN AS FAR AND AS FAST AS YOU CAN. GET THE FUCK OUT.”

the real horror is a months or years long time loop. no speedrunning your torture here. you have to sit with the consequences of your actions for a loooong time before the release of knowing the consequences and actions have been erased.
but oh, all the actions and consequences are gone. those relationships you built? empty. you can never build them again without the constant guilt of knowing that it's not as real the second, third, thirtieth time when you already know all their secrets and they none of yours.
