“not here --- more outside the cove neighborhood. it was actually just this one lady calling to complain about a child’s birthday party. twice. so until an actual emergency or crime has been committed at that address, i’m not even getting out of my car, i’m just gonna roll through, wave to the nosy old lady and be on my way and let those kids have fun,” she said. “i know it makes me sound like a bad cop, but i’m honestly considering to tell my dispatcher to let the lady know that we aren’t going to investigate anymore noise disturbances unless it’s after curfew or an actual emergency. she takes our time away from real emergencies, i can’t stand people that abuse the law like that.”

“oh, come on!” she whined as her radio called her unit number. sighing, she pressed the button on the little microphone on her earpiece. “officer davis 1-1-3, go ahead,” she spoke. "disregard, you’re not in the area,” the dispatcher said. shawna let out a sigh of relief, taking her hat off and setting it down. “thank god. if i get sent out to another ‘noise disturbance’ i’m gonna go crazy,” she said to the other nearby. @covestarters​

“i’m extremely happy. i have everything i could ever ask for. my husband, my sister, three beautiful babies even though we’re still confused as to how the girls ended up with red hair. i have a great job, a beautiful house and an adventure filled life. i have so much more than some others do so i’m not going to take anything for granted and be thankful for what i have. but i would like to get the new set of copic markers, that would make me over the moon.”

“losing my family. disappointing them.”

“i don’t remember what happened. all i remember was i was a blanket. a fucking blanket.”

“someone that’s truly evil. someone that doesn’t care about humanity or have any empathy or sympathy. someone that is so cold hearted they have no regards towards anyone’s feelings or their own actions.”

“my feisty veronica. she’s extremely passionate. about everything. just this morning she raved for twenty minutes about how perfect her chocolate chip pancakes were. and she goes off subject and makes up these stories that go on forever --- she’s my own little anne shirley-cuthbert. red hair and freckles to go along with it.”

“it’s really no big deal. i only need one. i’m not planning on anymore baby animals or baby humans anytime soon, and even if a surprise shows up in the form of morning sickness, by the time a new davis arrives our youngest won’t need the one he uses right now.”

“oh, it’s not necessary. it’s kind of my job to ‘honor thy neighbor’ and make things easier for them.”

“i used to. i still work with them now and then, but since i moved to the cove, i transferred to the station here. i still do a lot of patrolling in beaumont, though.”

“training is the hardest part and it’s really not that bad,” she said. “yeah, we aren’t planning on getting anymore animals so i’m not going to need it anytime soon.”

“i do my best. it’s pretty much common sense,” she said. “they are strong, but it depends on how you raise them in general too. --- are you? i’m a police officer. it’s nice to meet someone in the industry around here.”

“make sure you’re checking i.d.’s, at least,” she said, shaking his hand. “officer shawna davis,” she introduced herself. “this little one is oliver. you’d be able to see what he looks like if his hair wasn’t such a mess,” she said with a small chuckle as she pushed ollie’s bangs out of his face.

“yanno they made ‘airpod holders’ which is literally a string to keep them together... just like earphones,” she said with a small laugh. “she had waffles for breakfast, she was just mad because i went to mcdonalds and she didn’t. if she got to choose what we have for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day it would be mickey d’s. my other two aren’t picky so when we’re out and about and my oldest or youngest requests somewhere that isn’t mcdonald’s, i go ahead and go where they wanna go. they don’t ask very often so i like to spoil ‘em a little even if it makes my little match stick angry.”

shawna laughed a little. “it’s not for everyone. it wasn’t for me at first either. kids were planned but we only decided that we were going to have kids. we never talked about when, just that eventually they’d happen. two weeks later, i’m almost four months pregnant,” she chuckled. “so, what do you do? do you work or are you in school or anything?”

shawna giggled. “i’m sure most people are,” she said. “i have not. i’m allergic to a lot of adhesives so i don’t like anything that’s stick-on. i have tried the gum though. didn’t work. i tried quitting cold turkey, but that only works when i’m pregnant and the baby factory is shut down, so. i’m sure if i really apply myself, it’ll happen but listen --- when you have a four-year-old that knows how to climb on the roof, a little nicotine boost is something that you need to keep from having a heart attack.”
