Grateful for the sacred space I call home. 

A lot of people ask me how I started to do Henna.. I never anticipated to start doing Henna art, it kind of eventuated over a course of 2 years and slowly grew and evolved with time. With anything the more time you are willing to spend on something and practice the better you will become. And it was just one of those situations, I doubted myself and didn't think it was going to mount to anything. But Im happy I continued fucking up and learning from it because now I have this awesome ability that came with time and patience. 

Finished off the underpainting of a new chakra piece today, nearly gave up half way through because I was spending more time eating than painting.  But painting is my happy place and there is a part of me that is a serious loner and hates talking to people, sometimes I just want to paint and eat food ALL BY MYSELF

2nd Chakra piece Ive completed, and in the process of working on a third. I love working on these chakra pieces (apart from the times I nearly fuck the whole thing up when it comes to blending) But most of the time it works out okay and makes me feel calm. Combination of oil and acrylic on primed canvas.

Most artists will find that there dominating chakras will be the throat and third eye chakra. As both of these allow us to see in symbols and images and express them at the same time, creating many different types of creation. 

The end result of a rainy day with pen, paper and a bored mindset. 

I painted this piece on one of the MANY days that I didn't attend school. Which was quite a common thing for me to do, i never enjoyed school and found it to be quite a restricting place for the type of person that I am. I don't regret not finishing school as most of the time I was teaching myself to paint and sketch and if it wasn't for this time I would probably be working a normal 9-5 job by now. Both my grandparents are great painters and always wanted to be able to paint like them. But as I practiced more and more it was obvious I had a very different type of style to them, and at one point thought it was an AWFUL thing! It wasn't until I started getting younger peoples comments that i realised it wasn't bad it was just very different to my grandparents. I put it down to a generational thing. 

I worked on this painting for over 2 years, and represents my star sign which is "Leo".. When i first started I was originally going to paint over it as i didn't think it was going to mount to anything- someone in my family was very unimpressed and made it obvious that they did NOT like it. Despite the lack of inspiration after this situation I continued chipping away at it slowly, and it feels good to have finished it and think of that person each and every time I look up on my wall :)
