It still felt strange, all this to celebrate not just one wedding–but two. Even more strange given that Lucian had never met the other couple, he had been debating wishing them well when he caught sight of Aristeo–his husband. Gods, even thinking the word was enough to put a smile on Lucian’s face. If someone had told him ten years ago that this is where he would be, he wouldn’t have believed them. Ten years…it felt like just yesterday that he had made the rather reckless decision to pickpocket a vampire.
A reckless decision…and the best one he’d ever made. Theo had been so many different things to Lucian in that time–a mentor, friend, lover…but the one thing that didn’t change in those ten years was how important he was to Lucian.
Making his way over to Theo, he took a hold of his husband’s hand and pulled him close, free hand resting on Theo’s cheek as he swooped in for a kiss. “Hm. Have I told you today how unbelievably handsome you look?” He had. Several times. But it was always worth repeating. “And how incredibly lucky I am?” He pauses, grinning widely, voice taking that all too familiar teasing tone. “And that you’re an idiot for marrying me? Honestly, have you thought this through?”
He was taking a small break, letting himself breathe by a wall when he felt someone take his hand, and he was immediately pulled in Lucian’s embrace. He couldn’t hold back a smile, not since the moment he woke up. After losing his family Theo never thought he’d marry someone again, yet here he was - married to a man, who once thought it would be a great idea to steal from him. And Theo couldn’t be any more happier about it.
Theo replied to the kiss, smiling into it. “Hmm, I don’t think you have...” he mused, playful smirk curved his lips as he leaned in for another kiss. “I think I am the lucky one here. I never thought I’d love anyone again, yet here we are.” He looked at Lucian with adoring eyes, arms wrapped around his husband’s waist. A laugh escaped Theo’s lips. “No, I have not. Should have I?” he asked jokingly. “I love you so much, Lucian Olivier,” he said in a low voice just for him to hear, a loving smile growing from ear to ear.
