I read Daisy Jones and the Six when I was in a reading slump. I figured since my mind has this weird way of telling me that I need to read or else I’m gonna think of other ways to screw you up, I got a sample copy from my Kindle and hoped for the best.

I have to say this is one of the best decisions I made so far. I loved every single part of the book, and even now that weeks have passed, I still think of it every now and then.

I read somewhere that you don’t have to like the characters to appreciate the story. Sometimes, a good book has the most unlikeable characters because it portrays what you need to see.

I never liked Daisy. Sure, I think she’s cool and gifted, but I never liked her self-destruction antics and thought of her as selfish. Even until the very end of the book, I never liked her.

But Billy Dunne is a different story. I love how Billy was presented as a brilliant, talented guy yet has a long list of personal demons that he has to battle every single day. He might have a bunch of ugly traits rather than redeeming ones, but he’s one of those characters who I keep on rooting for until the very end. I especially admire his love for Camilla and his family. He wasn’t a perfect family man, and he had his own questionable decisions that are otherwise unforgivable, but I love the fact that when given the chance to repent, he did the right thing from right then and there. There might be some roadblocks ahead with Daisy. While reading it, I was unsure if he and Daisy are going to go for it or not. I admit it adds a bit of spice to the story. But I love how the story explores the idea of soulmates and the right person for you. Sometimes, even if you have finally met your soulmate, it doesn’t mean they are the one. I especially admire Camilla on this one. She’s a strong woman in her own way. She doesn’t need to compete with others to keep her relationship with Billy. As the story progresses, I can see why Billy would always choose her.
