While long adhering to the Green Word of the Skatay Range, Elysea never quite felt that she belonged, that the Word did not speak to her in the same way that it did to her mother and her siblings. Her meditations always led her to communing with spirits elsewhere, outside the Skatay Range, calling to her, beckoning her to find them, empowering her with magic that was not known in Skatay. Furthermore, she always felt different from the rest of the viera, and the reasons why became apparent to her when she finally discovered her mother's notes about her in an ancient Amdaporian ritual tome that was in her family's possession. Her life was turned upside down at this revelation, not only that her origins had been something other than purely vieran, but that she had been a ritualistic experiment by her mother. The spirits she had communed with were not of the forest of the Skatay Range, but the Elementals of the Shroud.
Unfortunately, the Garleans happened, and her desire for answers was delayed until she was able to flee to Eorzea as a refugee, upon the destruction of Rabanastre. Left with little to lose, Elysea now seeks the answers to her nature. What were her mother's intentions, and why does she have a connection to the Elementals? She finds guidance in her meditation with the Elements, after realizing that they were the ones responding to her pleas her whole life. They never provide direct answers, but feelings and suggestions that have led her to the Shroud, where she now resides. Guided to Amdapor by a mysterious expert on Amdaporian lore, and the Elementals themselves, fear grips her heart at what she might discover about herself, but also satisfaction. She feels that it is something that she must do to make sense of everything, to get answers to her nature, and the power and turmoil it brought her for her whole life.
