Sleeping in the day of the festival probably wasn't the best idea, but when certain people convinced me it would be a "good" and "fun" idea to play drinking games until 1am, it was a necessity. Now it's 12pm and i'm barely waking up with Leesol sleeping next to me on my bed and Leehan at our feet. There is definitely more men outside on the couch and floor, but I could honestly care less.
I nudged Leesol to wake her up, and after a few more nudges she asked, "What time is it?" as she sat up.
"Like 12 girl, we got to get ready." I said in a voice barely above a whisper.
Leesol practically jumped up when she heard the time, sure the real festival activities don't start till 4pm, but everyone knows you got to get pictures and pre-game before you leave. After Leesol fully woke up she dragged me to my bathroom. We blasted music,that the boys will definitely complain about when they wake up, and started off with skin care and face masks.
"So are you excited to see your man perform?" Leesol asked as we let the face masks sit.
"I'm actually so hyped, he's been practicing so much, honestly maybe too much, but he was so excited and he hasn't stopped talking about it everyday." I say trying to not smile and risk ruining the placement of the mask.
"Ugh, you guys are so inlove, it's so cute!" She says.
"Today we will find you a man." I say with an emphasis on you.
"Girl, I highly doubt i'd find anyone. Honestly after Sunghoon it's hard to trust people, even friends. But i'm so happy I met you and the guys, you guys gave me hope." She says almost in a shy tone.
"Stop i'm gonna cry," I say as I playfully fan my eyes. "No but seriously, I get what you mean. In the start me and Shota weren't perfect either, I had a lot of trust issues and he didn't communicate well, doesn't that sound like a disaster waiting to happen?" I say with a small laugh. "But because we liked or even loved eachother so much, we got over it and improved for eachother and ourselves."
"You guys are so cute, i'm gonna sob." She says as she brings me into a tight hug. "You guys make me believe love is real."
I try to not laugh but a small giggle passes my lips and messed up the face mask slightly.
He stood behind us and curious pointed at different products and asked what it was and what it's purpose was. He pointed to the blush I had in my hand and asked, "What is that, and why is it so bright."
I let out a small chuckle, "This is blush. It doesn't look this pigmented on." I put some on and blended it out to show him. "See, then when I set my face i'll put on powder blush to make it more pigmented."
"Can I put some on?" He asked innocently.
"I mean sure why not." I say with a smile as I motioned him to stand next to me. I started with a little and built it up until he said it was enough. "You look so cute oh-em-gee! Stay right there." I say as I reached for my phone and took a quick picture of him.
A few minutes later Niki and Tae made there way into my room and lingered at the entrance of the bathroom.
"Can you put on some MJ." Niki asked as he reached for Leesol's phone that was connected to my small speaker.
Leesol smacked away his hand, "Excuse me, you're not in charge of music."
"But you've been blasting Seventeen and Bts all day long." He says almost like he was throwing a tantrum.
"Ok, we'll play one MJ song. Choose wisely." Leesol replies as she hands him her phone.
"Wait so what are you wearing?" Woonhak asked through the phone that was set up on the bathrooms mirror.
"Um.. like one of my whimsy outfits. It's got pink, white, and black as the main colors." I replied as I started on my eye makeup.
"I think i'll go with a similar color pallet then." He says as he starts rummaging through his closet.
Juhoon joins the facetime and asks, "Wait so what are the school colors again? Martins says its yellow."
"Yellow? Where did he get that from? Its blue, white, and black, but i'm pretty much not wearing that so honestly just wear what you want." I say with a shrug.
"Wow, you're so school spirited." He says in a sarcastic tone.
"Of course! I love school spirit!" I say as I roll my eyes.
"Anyways, Woonhak can you're mom pick us up lowkey." Juhoon asks Woonhak.
"Yeah! We're leaving soon so be ready." Woonhak says as he shoves his phone in his face.
"Ew I can see your boogers Woonagi." I say with a fake disgust.
"Yeah, yeah eat my boogers. Bye!" He says as he leaves the call.
"Kay whatever. Anyways, wheres Martin at?" I asked Juhoon
"He's walking over to my house right now."
"Imagine not being able to drive at the big eight-teen." I say teasingly.
"Imagine being grown and being friends with highschoolers." Juhoon replied with a straight face.
"Ok, i'm hanging up now."
The clock now read 4:15. We started walking over to the campus once the kids were dropped off by Woonhaks mom. Of course we had to stop and take pics whenever someone had a "vision" of a fire pic. Then we ended up getting side tracked by this cute cafe, so we had to stop and get some sweets and drinks! I picked up a little roll cake for Soul, for when he finished his performance, which we now had to run to the campus to get good spots. We ultimately arrived at 5:30 which gave us 2 hours to campout our spots that were basically front row of the stage Soul and the rest would performing at.
I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous for Soul, obviously he's an amazing dancerโ dare I say one of the best dancers on our campusโbut it's natural for me to be worried! What if the music cuts out? What if Intak accidentally trips him again? What if he meets eyes with the gorgeous girl behind me and leaves me for her? The last one is kinda insane and would never happen but that's what is going on in my head in this current moment.
Before I could spiral, The performances started. It was now 6:30 which means there was a few other stages before Soul and the guys came out for their own stage. There were a few bands that played, one of them consisted of Junhan, Huening Kai, Taesan, and Anton. Then there was a few dance groups aswell, my favorite had James, Jihoon, Hanni, Eunchae, and Yeonjun. Yeonjun had joined last minute after leaving his duo performance with Daniela, but he still ate down in the group dance.
There were so many other talented acts, some could even make it as idols in my opinion. After a few more acts I saw the next performer walk on stage. How could I forget that Daniela herself was performing a solo dance stage. I had hoped she performed after Soul, but I guess we can't all get what we wish for. Don't get me wrong she's an amazing dancer, but knowing her as a person makes the dancing boring to watch. She even waited for the music with an aura like no one else, but something still felt off. If you truly knew her the way I use to, you can tell she's just pretending to have confidence. But if you take the stage away from her, the mask slowly slips away. That's why i've never entertained the drama she tries to stir up. It's all a ploy to make herself feel better.
Anyways, enough of giving people psychological analyses. The music started, she chose a flirty Britney Spears song, which I was not that suprised about. The moment the music started her eyes found me, almost like she was trying to intimidate me. Then she look towards the "wings" of the stage, which was where Soul and the guys were waiting in standby. Of course, even on a public stage infront of the whole university, she makes an attempt to suduce my man. I almost bursted out laughing when Soul had walked to the backstage area and i'm assuming asked Keeho to let him know when he should come back out. For a split second Daniela had a defeated look on her face when she tried to find him once more.
The music had come to an end and there was a respectful amount of cheers. I could see as she walked off stage she gave Soul a pat on his shoulder and whispered something in his ear, but truthfully I just didn't care. Soul and the guys were up next, they had decided to go the idol route and do singing and dancing. I was so hyped and screamed as loud as I could for all of them. Me and Martin even started barking like crazy for them, which we did get side-eyes for, but who cares!
They walked out liked they owned the stage, no one was hesitant and they looked like they belonged on stage, which they most definitely did. Soul caught my eyes and gave me a small wave before locking straight in, which made me giggle a bit.
They had chosen to cover Blind by Ateez, they had a mix of the original choreo and some that Soul, Jiung, and Intak made together. I was always so jealous of their ability to create new choreo to songs that already had its own choreo, if I tried I feel like i'd end up doing the same moves in different ways. But from the little sneek peaks I got, the portions of the choreo they made up were completely different but still fit the songs vibes.
The moment the music started they radiated this energy thats unexplainable, I just watched in awe. The opening was sung by Jiung which was a strong start. Everyone in the crowd was vibing out and adding cheers when it fit the performance. Jongseob and Intak rapping Mingi and Hongjoon's parts was so fitting but they also managed to make it their own. And of course Keeho's and Theo's vocals were insane, my jaw was dropped to the floor even though i've heard them singing plenty of times. I knew Soul wasn't always that confident in his rapping or singing skills but the few parts he had, he did amazing. Don't get me started on his dancing. I was practically hopping over the barricade as I waiting for the ending of the song. Soul and Intak had a duo dance break for the ending, and it didn't disappoint. They moved so fluidly and you can tell they worked well with eachother. Intak was better at choreography, so his moves to so sharp and percise. On the other hand Soul was more of a free styler and moved like water especially when he literally put all of his weight practically on his ankles as he bend backwards all the way down.
Overall the performance was out of this world. No words can describe how I felt after they finished, which was why i was gripping Niki as I screamed practically in his ear like a crazy person. Everyday Soul has given me even more reason to fall deeper and deeper in love with him. He had always seemed too good to be true, someone I didn't deserve, someone who wouldn't want me because of my lack of talent or motivation. But now, because of him I understand that I deserve him, he has raised my standards through the roof and he helped me find my own worth. Not that I need a man obviously, but he's not so bad I presume.
We had watched a few more performances before we decided to meet up with Soul and the guys. Because they were performers they could watch the rest of the acts backstage or just chill out back there, but we all wanted to explore all the other activities and booths they had at the festival.
The moment I saw Soul exiting the backstage area, I had gone up to him and peppered his face with little kisses as he let out a teethy smile.
"Wow, so not even a 'hi' to your brother first? Just straight to kissing up on my best friend?" Keeho says from behind Soul.
I looked pass Soul and gave him one final kiss on the lips. "Yes. Who even are you?" I asked jokingly as I pulled him into a hug. "You guys did amazing. I don't know if you heard my small tiny screams but I was hyped." I said while pulling away from the hug and talked to the rest of the guys.
"Aw, so that was you who sounded like they had rabies?" Intak asked as he gave me a small side hug, everyone else laughed at the comment as they all greeted eachother aswell.
"Honestly, that was probably Martin I can't lie." I said
"Hold up now, you were the one who started it! I was just being your hype man." Martin said defensively.
"But you did sound crazy than her. Plus your like 7'0. That probably made it worse." Taesan said while he emerged from the backstage aswell.
"Taesan! You did so freaking good in your performance!" I said as I greeted him with a hug.
"Yeah you did, but you didn't even tell me you were performing." Leehan said as he teasingly crossed his arm infront of him.
"You know I like being mysterious." He said as he loosely put his arm around Leehan's shoulder.
"You admitting it makes it not mysterious." Niki says with one finger out infront of him.
"Oh yeah cuz you're the nonchalant master around here." Woonhak said in a sarcastic tone. Niki then pinched his ear and Woonhak smacked him back.
"Ok can we go look at the stands and stuff before you guys start fighting." I said as I interrupted them before they started getting into petty fights.
"I want to get food, i'm starving!" Theo said as he made his way to the front to lead the big group.
Soul interlocked out hands as we followed the rest, but we stayed more towards the back. It was just me, Soul, Keeho, and Jiung in the back.
"So, What did Daniela say to you?" I asked curiously.
"Bro. She said "She's not all that, but I am." LIKE WHO IS YOU?!" Keeho answered for Soul, he sounded genuinely irritated and it seemed as if he was reliving the moment.
I let out a laugh, "YOU'RE JOKING! The nerve that girl has." I said as I rolled my eyes.
"You guys are definitely siblings." Jiung says as he lets out a laugh of his own.
Soul gives a big smile, "Yeah, you guys could be twins."
"Ok twins is crossing the line." I say in an offended tone.
We walked around, looking at the different food stands. No one agreed to just eat one thing, so we all bought what we wanted and found a table that would fit all of us. Me, Soul, and Intak ended up sharing a pizza between us.
We all had our own conversation with someone occasionally asking the rest of the group for their opinions. It was times like these were I fell deep into thought without realizing it. How did I end up with such amazing and caring friends? Even if the group was so big and we all met eachother at different moments in our lives, we all still connected and it felt like one big family. These were the real people I can truly cherish and love.
Soul tapped my leg, and I looked up towards him. "Are you okay?" He asked softly.
"Yeah, i'm doing perfect." I say with a smile and continuing to eat my slice of pizza.
He smiles back and let me go back to inner monologues.
"So you're saying next festival you'll join us?!" Keeho asked practically yelling across the table.
We had been talking about the other performances and theirs aswell, but I had made the mistake of saying that it looked fun to do.
"Hold up. I didn't say allat now." I said as I rolled my eyes.
"Ok, but you basically did. You would totally eat down! Maybe if you found other girl friends, apart from Leesol, then you can form a girl group if you don't wanna dance with us." Keeho proposed.
"I only need Leesol, actually. We would kill even if it was just us." I say in a matter of fact tone.
Leesol just shook her head, dismissing Keeho's proposal. "I don't do stages."
"See. I don't do stages either, just thinking about it makes me sick." I say dramatically.
"You are a really good dancer though." Soul says from my side.
I gave him a look of betrayal, "Don't encourage his tomfoolery."
"No, no Soul is right! You are a really good dancer. Maybe you should talk to Eunchae, now that they got Yeonjun it's an uneven number." Intak pointed out.
"Ok, if it makes you guys feel better, i'll think about it." I say as I let out a long sigh.
"I can't wait to see you perform next year! And we're actually going to be allowed to watch too!" Woonhak said excitedly.
"Aw my little freshman.." I said as I wiped away fake tears.
"Are you sure you'll even be able to perform? I mean you're getting to that age you know." Juhoon said with the straightest face ever.
"I'm going to end you." I said as I ruffled his hair like crazy. He tried smacking away my hand but then Taehyun joined in.
"You just insulted everyone here Juju." Taehyun added
"Just so you know I respect you guys!" Martin added teasingly.
Time had flown by and we had all finished our food. You could tell everyone was exhausted. We started to wrap everything up, some had taken their leftovers and other had thrown their respective food away. As we were all getting ready to leave, Daniela had walked up to us.
"Hey guys!" She said in an unusually sweet tone.
We all look around at eachother awkwardly, no one really knew what to do in this situation. Theo was the who spoke up for everyone, "What do you want?"
"Well, I just wanted to say you guys did so good! And um do you think we could talk for a quick second?" She said as she turned to me at the end.
I looked next to me to look at Soul. I wasn't sure if I should even give her the time to say whatever she wanted to. He just gave me his usual boba eye look as he shrugged his shoulders.
"Um yeah, i guess." I said as I lead us away from the group, but still close enough that they were in my eyeline.
"So, I know its been a while since we've talked and stuff, and I know we ended our friendship on bad terms. But I wanted to let you know that I left Sunghoon and I realized you and Leesol were right about him." She admitted.
"Well yeah, I opened up and was completely transparent about everything he had done to me. I still don't understand why you decided to get with him knowing he had a girlfriend and that it would ruin our friendship." I said honestly because I was tried of always sugarcoating things and being nice to everyone even if they had done me wrong.
"Yeah, I get that, i'm literally admitting I was wrong. Look, I get it if you still don't want to be friends, but I find it unfair if you don't forgive me. Like i'm only human, and you, yourself were manipulated by him too." She said, almost sounding like she was going to scoff at the end.
"So you you're not even here to fix anything or apologize? Why did you actually want to talk to me?" I asked her knowing she had other intentions.
"Well honestly, Sunghoon did actually break up with me. That just means I can finally make my move on Niki. We would be a power couple and I want your help." She said with a smug smile on her face.
"Are you actually delusional? Niki would never even look in your direction. And he deserves ten times better than what you have to offer. Plus you can't be acting like I have to do you a favor after everything that you have done to me." I said as I shoved passed her and made my way back to the group.
"You watch out Y/n. You know I can take who I want, you're lucky I haven't taken your man yet." She yelled out towards me.
At this point I've had enough. So I may or may not have blacked out and punched her once or twice, but it was nothing crazy! Soul ended up pulling me away and Daniela looked like she'd seen a ghost as she held onto her cheek. She had nothing left to say so she ran off to who knows where.
Assuming she had gone to tell campus security or something, we all rushed off campus and made our way back to mine and Keeho's apartments which were the closests.
"Are you crazy? As your brother i'm so disappointed, moms gonna be so mad if she finds out." Keeho said from infront of me and he walked backwards. "But as you're friend.. you silenced her quick literally."
I smiled at him, "Thanks that makes me feel amazing."
"He's right though, who knew you could punch like that!" Woonhak said enthusiastically.
"You're such a dork. It was more like a slap, it probably didn't even hurt that bad." I say as I rolled my eyes.
"I would say im disappointed, but you looked so cool" Soul said as he lightly rubbed my knuckles with his thumb as our hands interlocked.
"I couldn't help it! I feel like this was the one time someone ticked me off this bad. I don't even talk about a whisper half the time!" I said defensively.
"She definitely deserved it. I think we all agree with that." Juhoon reassured.
Everyone either nodded or said they agreed with Juhoon. Honestly them agreeing it was an ok thing to do gave me some peace of mind. Obviously violence is never the answer, but personally it did solve all my issues.
We arrived at my apartment, everyone was exhausted so Keeho and I agreed to everyone sleeping over in our apartments. Leesol got to sleep in my tiny spare room, Soul and I slept in my room, and the other guys left had to figure how they were going to sleep. That however was not my problem
I had washed up and changed into one of Souls hoodies and pajama shorts. Soul had also washed up and changed into one of his T-shirts and sweats. We then made our way to bed, and we could still here the guys outside arguing.
"So, did you have fun today?" I asked as I turned to face him.
"Yeah. I really liked dancing with the guys, I had fun and I think we did good" He said also turning to face me.
"You guys did so good! Im so proud of you, and I personally loved your little singing bits. I think you should sing more often." I said as I played with his hair.
"I'll think about it." He said with a smile. "You also never told us what Daniela did or said that made you, you know, punch her." He said curiously.
"Oh, she basically was saying that she was in the wrong but she didn't apologize for anything. Then she told me Sunghoon broke up with her. THEN she had the audacity to act like I owed her a favor and asked me to set her up with Niki." I said rolling my eyes at the memory.
"She's crazy, there's no way. I don't know Niki that well but she's definitely not for him." He said, laughing a little at the thought of Daniela and Niki together.
"I know! She's not for anyone honestly. And Sunghoon ending things with her is not surprising, she literally started off as a homewrecker. What did she expect?" I ranted.
"Who knows at this point. But hopefully shes out of the picture completely now, after you K.O.ed her, I don't think she'll be messing with any of us anymore." he said as he wrapped his arms tighter around me.
"Yeah, either way I don't think anyone will entertain her anymore." I say with a small smile as I melted into his arms.
