Floating Points // Problems
This bangs. Do people still say that?
The National // Tropic Morning News
They're back. Although The National have evolved and shifted over the years, they still remain essentially the same band. There has been no Ok Computer reimagination. They're familiar. Warm and welcoming, bathed in a grizzly melancholy.
Lucifer on the Sofa // My Babe
Lucifer on the Sofa released Spoon in 2022 - The best album of the year? Potentially. It's wonderfully eclectic and 'My Babe' is a great way in.
Good Morning, Day Dreamer // Just Pretend
SGTMT is getting old, so now we seem to like Shoegaze. Sorry everyone but with music blog age comes music blog wisdom.

Bartees Strange // Heavy Heart
We've not posted any music in a year or summat. I'm not sure why Bartees Strange persuaded us back into the game, but you most likely don't care. Anyways, enjoy.
4B2M // This Is Happening
Four brothers & two mothers (geddit?) are bringing back Krautrock, can you do that if youâre Dutch? Anyway, itâs not really Krautrock. Itâs far too jovial. Enjoy
Fourth Man // Say Something
Fourth Man is a Manchester-based multi-instrumentalist. Now, if youâre imagining a one-man band with a bass drum, kazoo, banjo, and mini cymbals between his knees youâd be wrong (at least from what weâve seen thus far). This multi-instrumentalist is more of the alt-pop, sonic synth riff genre and heâs been on repeat at SGTMT HQ this week.
More info and more 4th tunes here.
Lake Ruth // Strange Interiors
Strange Interiors features as a double A-side (weâre thrilled that theyâd have the audacity to make such an analogue claim in a digital world) on Lake Ruthâs new Extended Leave EP.
This has been on loop at SGTMT HQ. We look forward to a new album (their third) in 2020?
The 5 best Pulp songs
Weâve been listening to Pulp recently at SGTMT HQ.Â
We must admit, we missed Pulp the first time around. âCommon Peopleâ had become the cliche anthem of Britpop and made them easy to dismiss alongside Chumbawamba, Dodgy and other mid/late 90s forgettable favourites.Â
However, they have an eclectic back-catalogue with a smattering of hidden gems. Heâs our Top 5:
This is HardcoreÂ
Recently SGTMT luminaire Tom suggested on the Twitter that âThis Is Hardcoreâ is the best Pulp song. He may well be right.Â
Do You Remember The First Time?Â
From the album His N Hers. Sadly we canât recall the first time we heard this song.
Like A FriendÂ
A rare non-album song from Pulp which features on the Great Expectations Soundtrack. Listening to this again, weâre pretty sure Tom is wrong. This is the best.
The FearÂ
The opening track from This Is Hardcore eschews the unfortunate portrayal of Pulp as the âchippy popâ merchants of Common People and Disco 2000. This is the real Pulp - hauntingly beautiful, vulnerable and at times uncomfortable.
Something ChangedÂ
Not everything on the album Different Class was destined for endless repeats on âI love the 90sâ TV documentaries. Buried between the New Labour hits is this gentler, wistful, endearing version of Pulp.

Dogleg // Fox
Dogleg are from Michigan and are signed to Triple Crown Records.Â
Fox is the first release from their up and coming album Melee. We like it.Â
Doglegâs earlier EPs seemed to be heading in a garage angry lo-fi direction but Fox has added a layer of tuneful visceral energy. Some people like their Christmas cake with only a layer of marzipan but those poor misguided souls have obviously never tasted legit royal icing. It literally is the icing on the cake. Weâll let you finish constructing the analogy as we have to go now.
Joy Orbison /// Burn (ft. Infinite, Mansur Brown)
K.Flay /// Dreamers
Alice Boman /// Heartbeat
Dream Wife /// Fire
