◆ ‧ ━━━━━ sorin can see the confusion in his eyes and she has to wonder just what kind of people this man decides to surround himself with. is it really so unusual for people to spend time with him without wanting anything? then again, seeing the way he treated them made it hard for her to believe that the relationship was anything less than a parasite feeding on its prey, a man feeding the hungry dogs. it’s nothing like friendship. ( is this the kind of man that she loved once? ) ” i’d rather not. it makes me uncomfortable.“ sorin finally says tightly, eyes narrowed. ” i’m not really in the mood to deal with a pack of drooling hyenas.“
again she can see that her shrewd observation is surprising to him, and she truly wonders why. does he surround himself with that many stupid people? shouldn’t one try to stimulate their growth? ( is this the kind of man that she loved once? ) ” hence why i called them hyenas. you’re just as bad for feeding their greed, though.“ it’s frustrating to watch people like this. maybe it’s because she grew up on the lower end of things and he’s clearly a chaebol or something, but something is digging under her skin and this situation just feels so .. wrong. ” isn’t it lonely?“ sorin asks, eyes wide, eyes haunting. maybe he recognizes that she’s not one to be touched. maybe he remembers it’s a good idea to put his distance between them.
he doesn’t remember her at all, but it isn’t the first time that people step away from her as if they’ve been touching ice.
” please don’t call me sweetie. we’re not married.“ not this time, anyway. ” i never said we were bad, either. it wasn’t like i stopped you from taking me with you, either.“ after all, she too is curious. everything that is kang woojin tells her that he’s the exact opposite of her type yet somehow, she loved him once. maybe he was different then. ( she hasn’t seen enough to know. ) her eyes glance at his hand, to which instead she pats his cheek. ” there’s nothing to say sorry for, is there?“
it’s the look in his eyes though, that shakes her rather than his invitation. there’s some recognition swirling there, and she has to wonder if it’s just a sense of deja vu or if he actually - .. remembers. ” i don’t want to go anywhere expensive. that’s not my style.“ she chirps at him, eyes curving into crescents to stave off the feeling of dread. she hopes he doesn’t remember. it should be only her that remembers this heartache.
” i know a cafe around here. want to go?“ she pauses. ” it’s haunted though, so i hope you’re not scared of ghosts.“
who was this girl standing in front of him, squinting at his invitation as if it was a push into a dark abyss. handing out one of his countless cards happened on a daily base, he was used to people drooling about the amount of money he could provide them with. but the female he was currently confronted with didn't seem to share the same mindset as those greedy goons. what was she after then? "well, if that's how it is." he replies casually, shrugging his shoulders, frowning at her narrowing eyes. did he say something wrong? "whatever floats your boat." it was not like it mattered to him. if she wanted a piece of the cake, then she was free to take it. if not, it was her loss after all.
what she says next makes him laugh though. this one seemed to believe in the good of one's heart. how pure. "well, this is the kind of world we are living in. it's not i am responsible for them. if they want to be greedy, i let them be. i don't see why i should take care of them, when survival is what matters in our society." seemed like she was one of them. one of those people who were at the dirty end of the stick, maybe one of those who had been crawling on the ground like worms, like that bastard from his past. in normal circumstances he would have shrug her off as just some random girl, but something in him kind of sympathized with her and the way she called him out. there weren't many people who dared to do that. he was kang woojin after all.
lonely? he wonders, mustering her without saying another word. it might be, but that was simply the kind of path he had chosen for himself. in order to fulfill his goal, he had to make sacrifices. loneliness was just an illusion of the weak-hearted. the female seemed to be furious, and something in him tells him to back off. it would be just tiring to deal with someone as stubborn as her, especially when there was nothing to gain from interacting with her.
"my bad, my bad." he hums, turning slightly away from her. what did she expected him to tell her? and what was the conflict he felt, when standing there with her? she seemed to not fall into his trap of charms, seemed to be able to look through it right away and normally woojin wouldn't have even used more energy to pull her on his side, when there was nothing worth it. so him still trying to kinda confused him.
the taller man frowns at her. so instead of going to an super exclusive and expensive place, she prefered a themed cafe? whatever. "let's go then." he says with a smile in assurance that there was nothing alike that kang woojin was scared of, as he gestures her to lead the way.
