What was your wol(oc) like growing up?

#oc: bryony penrose #oh bryony was a menace to be sure. opinionated and bossy and clever. always curious and adventurous.#and probably a little spoiled. mostly by her older sister elowyn who she basically idolized. always following her around #her childhood was for the most part rather happy. she never wanted for anything. her parents weren't perfect but who is lol #but bryony always dreamed that she and elowyn would be an adventuring duo once she was old enough. and elowyn promised they would.#then she died fighting at carteneau when she was 23 years old. (bryony was 17)#however bryony doesn't know elowyn's fate for quite a while #as far as she and her family knew elowyn was just missing in the immediate aftermath but when she never came home and there was no word.#well they kind of just assumed that something must have happened to her in all the destruction and chaos #so post-calamity teenage!bryony was grieving and angry at the loss of her older sister.#and she felt like her parents and younger sister just wanted to move on with their lives and pretend like nothing happened.#she felt like they didn't care. which of course is not true. people grieve differently.#but in her way of thinking not knowing what happened was doing elowyn's memory a massive disservice.#so when bryony took up adventuring herself five years later one of her main goals was discovering elowyn's fate. for closure.

I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with relating to characters, “they’re literally me” etc but if that’s the only way you engage with stories you’re kinda missing the whole point of Characters being vehicles through which we can see perspectives outside of our own. and also you’re going to get upset when the Character acts in a way that is not Personally Relatable to You

#oc: bryony penrose #normal Adventuring gear like a map a compass a bedroll etc #her weapons and basic hygiene supplies #aside from that: paper and a writing implement. at least one musical instrument. gifts she bought for her friends in her travails lol #probably a Tragic Keepsake that belonged to her sister #by the time she gets back to the rising stones happy's saddlebag is chock full of 'i saw this and thought of yous' bc she loves her friends #and if she's travelling with her friends this does not stop her she'll pick that flower from the roadside and hand it to them directly ❤️
