{ Safe & Sound }

They both fell back into silence and he felt Kenko get closer and closer until she latched onto his arm.  ”Okay, although I might never have been a real cop I’ve spent plenty of time with them.  I didn’t expect the job to be easy, I expected it to be interesting.  And this.”  Yoichi waved at the hall which had nothing but a few framed pictures of various Pokemon hanging on the walls, “This is not interesting.”

He mumbled something to himself about how he felt bad for all the trouble he ever gave to nighttime security guards.  After a few more minutes of silence Kenko spoke again.  ”A snack?”  His mouth twitched at the prospect.  ”You’re not supposed to eat on duty.”  As he spoke he was leading them down a side hall they hadn’t been through yet.  He stopped them in front of a door and he stuck his key in to undo the lock.  He had to stop himself from picking it.  It was weird to have the ability to legally unlock any door in this building.

As they walked together, she kept quiet and listened to him vent about his complaints for a little longer. He made a face at her offer to have a snack. It wasn't like she could walk around forever and not eat. Though her body didn't need it, not really anyway. She still enjoyed stopping for some virtual snackage. 

He pulled her along to a meeting room for the Elites and Gym Leaders, Kenko couldn't help but be impressed. It was a very small room, but it had a feel of importance and it was surprisingly lived in.

He yawed and stretched his long arms.  ”In fact this is probably one of the  most boring trainer classes every created for this game.  Maybe if we did real work.”  He was clearly irritated now.  ”But no, it’s walk around this building all night to check on the E4 members and the gym leaders.  What a load of bullshit, who would bother the Kanto leaders.  No one comes around here.”  He threw up his hands in disgust and groaned.

The girl laughed a bit as they worked together, slowly she began to inch closer and closer. Eventually she looked her arm through his and smiled. "Don't be so sour,i don't think any job in this game is easy. I don't know anything about Pokemon anatomy and yet they expect me to cure poisons and paralysis."

As yoichi broke the silence she moved closed to peek ahead on his right side. 

"Remember what I told you."  He turned to look at Kenko, narrowing his eyes to make his point.  "No funny business.  I’m working, I don’t have time to fool around and chase after you all night."  Yoichi stepped aside to let her walk into the building first.  He unclipped his Carracostas PokeBall as he followed after her and shut the door.  He let Keisatsu out and they nodded at each other.

Nodding, and still pouting she walked inside the building ahead of him. As she turned around to see what he was doing, he had let out his Carracosta. It was such a big thing, she felt uneasy around it sometimes. "I guess, unless you want to stick me in a room all night." Kenko knew he didn't want her to bed there, but he had once again put up with her insisting and pouting. 

"I wont be a bother Yochi, I promise. I'll be super quiet.. It'll be like im not even here!"

It did get lonely pacing the halls over and over again with only Keisatsu tagging along.  But it was always dangerous to bring Kenko anywhere.  Not dangerous for her, but it was usually a challenge to keep Kenko from causing trouble.  If any of the leaders or Elite Four members came out and say Kenko prancing around he’d get in super-mega trouble.  And for once Yoichi wanted to stay way, way out of that.

He waited by the front door, staring at his watch.  ”Times up Kenko, you have to keep up if you’re coming.”  He walked down the street to the crosswalk, checking behind him for Kenko.  She didn’t seem to be coming.  He shrugged before breaking into a jog.  Sometimes when he started jogging he would get nervous and end up running for his life for no reason.  Muscle memory from his convict days he guessed.

Yoichi was already out of the door by the time she had put her hair up into a solo pony tail. Her long locks came to be quite the hassle. As she made sure to lockup the house she just caught sight of him standing at the cross walk. As she moved to keep up, he suddenly broke into a jog. 

Letting out a sigh she chased behind him. It wasn't uncommon for her to feel like a tail of sorts, she was always following behind Yoichi. 

Kenko caught u eventually and let out a heavy sigh just as he turned around to see her. Thank the heavens she was in shape, or that run would have been pure hell. "Whats with you? Leaving me back there.. What if someone challenged me and I didn't make it?" 

It only felt like he’d been asleep for 10 minutes when his alarm went off, but he had slept for the two hours he had left.  Kenko had wrapped herself around him while they were sleeping.  Yoichi rubbed his eyes and yawned, peeling her off once again and flicking open his menu to change into his uniform.  ”Hey, Kenko.”  He yawned again and pinched himself to wake up.

Feeling his body shift as he got up to leave for work she slowly woke up from her own empty dream. Just as the door was closing she sat up and rubbed her eyes carefully. "Yoi..chi, you're leaving already?" She mumbled quietly as she tried to wake herself up. 

Her side was spotless. There was nothing insight, not even a stray piece of clothing. Flopping onto the bed she laid on her back and opened up her menu. The log-out button was still missing and of course she didn't bother taking the time to look at it. 

Dragging more comfortable clothes out from the menu the appeared on her body to replace the uniform. The uniform was now safely tucked away in her inventory. It was a simple pair of shorts and a thin white tank-top. Perfect for napping. "Well come on." she closed her menu and rolled onto her side. 

"You know what, I don’t have time for this.  I work in…" He looked down to check his watch, "in two and a half hours and I need to get some sleep."  He turned the faucet on and filled his glass.  It managed to distract him for a few seconds.  He always marveled at how some things in VRO seemed so realistic, it made him forget how on edge he was.  He turned off the tap and practically chugged his glass before letting it clatter in the sink.  

Kenko approached him and slipped her hands around his waist. "Yoichi.. don't be like that." The blue haired woman pressed her face against him. "I remember who you're talking about now.. perhaps you should keep an eye on him. He tried to offer me a heart scale as payment." 

Worried wasn’t really the right word either, more like infuriated.  People just really did not know how to back off.  He got home before she did and decided to wait for her, just to ask a question or two.  He was started to get irritated because he hadn’t slept yet, and his shift started in another three hours.  He stood by the front door picking at his nails absentmindedly, trying to think of something other than his pounding headache. 

"I don't know what you're talking about Yoichi."
