Is there anything more frightening than the unknown? To this day we have no idea who Jack the Ripper was or how many he was responsible killing.

Such mystery surrounds this individual, but one thing is true: He has captured history’s attention. Countless stories have been told about this spectre. Many have used his name to describe true evil. However, now there is a dubstep about him thanks to Figure and Bare.

This collab features the hallmarks of Figure. Drum and bass, vocal audio clips, and a title drop leading to the actual drop. What isn’t usual of Figure is the amazing use of guitar licks that give this even more variety and depth. Quite like the monster of its title.

Day 7 of Figure Month has gone to hell. Figure has had a decent tea party with Beelzebub and after much torturous pleading and begging, Figure agreed to feature him in Monsters Volume 4.

The Devil is that song that reminds of the true terror this being is demanding from our treacherous souls. The King of Evil and Sin can not be outrun, you only hope he isn’t coming for you.

As for the track, what a rush! From beginning to end this is a banger! Drumstep well defined. Just when you think things have calmed down they blast right back to full force.

For our last post today for Figure Month, we go back to one the best tracks from Monsters of Drumstep Vol. 1: Vampires.

I will say that Vampires have been through a lot in the past and maybe they need to have someone give them a little more understanding as the creatures of the night.

Figure steps up and doesn’t skip a beat, the mix of movie quotes, various synth ranges, and a simplistic but perfect drum beat make this one solid piece.

Continuing on to our second post of the day for Figure Month, I have to wonder about Halloween parties. Is it hard to get people dancing at them? I mean with their costumes and make-up, the crowded spaces, and the headaches already sustained from the sugar comas it would be pretty hard to get anyone moving out there.

Well, I don’t have to wonder thanks to Monster Mania by Figure. At first it sounds to spooky, but the pounding build up get the toes tapping. Heart beats start to kick up as high pitched synths feed the veins. Drop the first “Halloween” and the trashing becomes the most exciting thing ever.

I must apologize about my absence from the past two days. I have been working on other projects and getting my past work organized. (I hope to post some of my own songs in the future of this blog)

With that apology aside we turn back to Figure Month. I’m posting about three songs today to get us back on track for the full month of Halloween tunes.

First up tonight, The Werewolf. Classic Figure at his finest. This step takes on the personality of the creature that its title contains. The rapid wubbing and dubbing feels like the gnarling bites that the man beast would use to devour his prey.

One of my personal favorites of his by far. Don’t go haunting without it!

Welcome back to Figure Month! Day 3 is here and we are continuing our look at the drumstep monsters that Mr. Gard has brought back to sickening life.

Today’s mix focuses on one of the new classic killers, Leather Face. The original chainsaw freak has carved out a vicious path since the 1970s and this track keeps that streak on path.

Trademark Figure is at full force, keeping the movie sound effects and providing the canvas for the creature to come to life. This song just doesn’t leave you alone. The electro drums pounding away at your cranium and the muddy bass dragging you deeper and deeper to the grave.

Stephen King is a master of horror. He has created a multitude of rememberable stories that have stayed with its readers for their entire lives. Not to mention the movies based on them are equally effective to those that watch them.

A younger me was scarred by the monster of this song, Pennywise the Clown. I was freaked out by the sharp teeth and evil laugh that this seemingly nice clown would have. Needless to say, I couldn’t sleep for a long while. Now, I’ve seen It many more times and I personally loves clowns of all types. However I have to say that Tim Curry’s clown was one of the first I ever encountered.

That brings us to this gem from the artists Brawler, Cas One, and Figure. The opening line is perfect. The bassline is intimidating. The edited laugh is genius. The drop line fits exactly the way it should. The drop is murderous.

Cas One spits some thematic lines and keeps this song on topic. Drop that evil bass again and lead into that classic breakdown.

It’s October y’all! Halloween is soon to be upon us. The preparation for the spooks and creeps is in full swing. Easily one of my favorite times of year.

Know what else this means? FIGURE. The man eats, sleeps, breaths the macabre. However, that doesn't mean you should run screaming from his library of horrific drumstep tunes.

This October, I’d like to look back at his collection of monster themed songs. Let’s start off with one of my favorites, The Phantom.

Definitely inspired by the early 1900s story, The Phantom of the Opera has seen a multitude of depictions in movies, plays, and musicals. Figure draws on that by using the stepped piano to give this set a strong backing. Which ramps to the name drop and the pungent grinding synth. The mid section has everything Figure is known for: the old movie sound clips, various additional sound effects, and resetting of the ramp to drop.

Okay, over a year ago I stopped doing something that I have loved. I’m sorry for setting this aside. New job, relationships, and depression don’t help. But in some way they make things that seem small at the time really big. This is one of those things. Music is my life blood. Without it, I’d be bland and meaningless.

I’m returning with all the vigor I had at the beginning. I also chose a year old song to share with you.

Shakira, Rihanna collab in this song Can’t Remember To Forget You and it is marvelous. Their voices are so dynamic and unique. Oh, so sexy.

Enter DANK. The guy that made his handle synonymous with the filthy beats he specializes. That hook is SO DANK!!

The contrast of the crisp tones of the ladies makes this one of the best dirty remixes of 2014.

Hopefully I won’t forget to remember you or the music that made me who I am today.

Finally I leave you with the last entry to Launch, Haunted. This banger was made famous by YouTuber Markiplier as his outro to his scary video game videos. However, Markiplier first encountered this song in the game Critical Mass. After literally going nuts for it, he made it apart of his channel.

As for Servartus and his blog, he would like to go equally nuts for this bone-chillingly awesome track. The simple melody in the beginning elicits thoughts of awe and grandeur. Drop drums of mass destruction and dubtastic wobbles and a fate of uncertainty creeps in. The anxiety rises as the sounds get louder and then crush down in one epic drop. He melody never quite settles down and is infused with the spooky noises. This all comes to a head in the most climactic ends I have ever heard. I will remain shaken by my nightmares as this haunts me from now and to eternity.

This is the anthem of the Mooday. Not to be lazy, but to not be defined by the work we do. To be choosers and not beggars. Timeflies' Cal Shapiro makes a strong effort to get this point across very well in Sleep Forever. Or at least that's what I get out of it. Hard times are not in my memories, good times and having fun are what I remember. Listening to this chill tune I hope you do too. Maybe someday we can all just sleep forever.
