A large Therapsid from the Late Permian from 259 to 252.3 million years ago and is best known for its sabre tee Inostrancevia, a large Therapsid from the Late Permian from 259 to 252.3 million years ago and is best known for its sabre teeth like the later Sabre toothed cats. Inostrancevia reached lengths of 3.5 metres and was about 300 kg in weight making it comparable in size to a polar bear and it’s the largest known Gorgonopsian, and likely preyed on the Pareiasaur Scutosaurus. Inostrancevia being a Synapsid is distant relative to mammals and it may have had some mammalian features such as fur, whiskers and being warm blooded, though this is generally just speculation and evidence is required to confirm whether or not Therapsids were more mammalian in appearance than reptilian.
