When the prequel film to The Hunger Games trilogy came out in 2023 (which somehow seems like a MILLION FUCKING YEARS AGO), I hadn't planned to see it, but a friend wanted someone to go with. I had seen the other movies and read the original books when they first came out, so I was familiar with the franchise, but had not (and still haven't) read The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

I LOVED the movie, and, because my mind has been nothing but Hannigram brainrot for as long as I can remember, I could not help but interpret the movie through that lens, along with more conventional ones.

I simply had to write a one-shot about Will and Hannibal seeing the movie, and seeing themselves in the movie. And it was truly a one-shot for once! It did not turn into a half-million-word novel.

Every so often, I like to go back to a fic and edit it for clarity and word choice and make sure it hits the way I meant it to. And I like to include a piece of original art as well -- I am a long way from mastery, but I believe it's never too late, so at age 42 I've (very casually) taken up drawing again.
