The Vampire Lestat 3.06
I am the meteor above it Writing your name in dust as I fall
so much could have been improved in the sequels if kylo ren hadn’t been force sensitive
no wait think about it. kylo ren not being force sensitive, but so desperate to be so he’s willing to do anything. he feels cheated out of his grand destiny, his powers that his mother and uncle (and cousin?) have. give me the story on the entitlement towards the force. it would have shown that the force is beyond biological, it always has been. it would have given a better reason for kylo ren to “fall to the dark side”, so desperate for a connection to the force that he plays the part of a dark sider, swinging a cracking red lightsaber around with no finesse or training, killing hoping that it will push him further into a dark side of the force he cannot feel. it would have given a reason for him to hate han; that because han isn’t force sensitive, it’s his fault that kylo isn’t either. kylo’s character would have been stronger because his choices would have been his own, instead of whatever whisper dream manipulations they were in canon. his evil has nothing to do with the force, but an entitled man trying to claim a power he believes is his by birthright.
this would have foiled perfectly with finn, too- one is a child born to the most powerful force sensitives in the galaxy who cannot feel the force. and finn is a child who was taken from his family, forced into soldier-hood, who feels such a deep and powerful connection to himself and the force that he breaks free. kylo ren, seething and entitled trying to claim a destiny and power that just aren’t his, and finn, who has suffered at kylo’s actions and still connected to the powerful light inside of him. the “nobody” hero of the sequels who has the power of the force and the legacy-born villain who doesn’t.

literally do it even if youre stupid <3
post 80's breakup DM. Daniel doesn't remember where this heartache is coming from so he falls back into drugs hard. Armand mourns their relationship, spending hours and hours in the little bathtub from the flat where everything began on divisadero street.
things to look for : they have matching ashtrays. Daniel has the remnants of a vampire bite but Armand also sports a human-shaped bitemark where he was letting Daniel mock-bite him. Hard so see because of the angle but Armand is sporting a black bindi (symbol of mourning) but his hands and feet are still adorning joyful mehndi from when he was with his beloved. The tapes around Armand are all recordings of Daniel's voice. They are both crying.
closeups of Armand's mehndi under the cut !!!
i feel like a lot of people don’t understand that Claudia’s defining trait as a character is the fact that she is a memory. she is a concept. i keep seeing people complain that “she was out of character in the seance scene” or that “she would never say that.” but you don’t know what she would say!! everything we know about Claudia is someone else’s interpretation of who she is—INCLUDING the seance scene, which is still in lestat’s perspective. even on the rare occasion when she does speak for herself, we’re still seeing her through someone else’s eyes. we will never know Claudia’s version of the story because she is dead.
everybody straight till the narrative foil walk in

I know the groupchat with daniel’s ex wives and daughters is going crazy right now lmao
Do you think that was really Claudia’s ghost? Or a different spirit? Or something else?
I am so upset by the anti-Black racism in that scene.
it's complicated. it's likely her, but the words themselves aren't. in the book, merrick explains that any spirit called upon lies. that whatever spirit louis spoke to pulled from his deepest fears and guilt in order to hurt him. claudia's feelings about louis and lestat are complex so the concept of her ghost harming louis is still reasonable, but the show took it into an unnecessary antiblack direction, compounded by the major issue of prioritizing the white lead for years now.
and it's so...this adaption built reputation on taking anne rice's work and only expanding it. the changes they made to louis is a strong example. so why is merrick - louis' second fledgling, and a book centered on a black woman grappling with identity and power - potentially a single scene? a scene with THAT dialogue?
merrick should've been woven into louis' arc from the start of the season. her relationship with him continued the themes of race and exploitation at the forefront of his character into season 3. merrick contains many parallels to claudia, even more so with show!claudia. and this line? awesome!
like, her story builds into their show version of louis' incredibly well. she explores the same idea this show wanted from regina and still kept claudia central to him. i can't believe they may have wasted the potential between them. i know there's more seasons planned, but this should've been his arc this season. whatever
hey so why was ghost claudia holding a drink? what is a vampire doing with half a glass of scotch lol?
I also absolutely do not want to imply it was justice for Claudia but Louis and Lestat go straight back to talking about themselves as if they hadn’t just gone through that harrowing experience. As if they hadn’t just found out their daughter is going to suffer forever because of a trial one of them willingly (confirmed btw) took part in.
Because obviously Daniel and Armand have their own plotting going on and this is about Claudia’s suffering, both while she was alive and now that she isn’t. But the timing was satisfying. You should both be in shambles over what you were just told. You should be inconsolable. But you’re talking about yourselves and laughing and smiling, so I’m not feeling all that bad for them, especially considering we know they’re obviously both going to be fine.

greed of biblical proportions, god bless
The other day my wife told me about this influencer who said she needed to go on ozempic so she could go from 130 lbs down to 115 and I really cannot stress the degree to which we have so COMPLETELY lost the plot with this glp1 shit. Like not only are people are going on this shit for purely cosmetic purposes, the cosmetic purposes are delusional. This is the kind of mindset that gives people eating disorders but now because you can get a prescription instead of having to starve yourself or enduce vomiting a big swath of the general public seems eager to go along with it. Body Positivity did not go fucking far enough because I am being so real when I say that fatphobia is more of a public health crisis than obesity has ever been
People making a choice feminism argument for Ariana Grande looking skeletal have me feeling like this
