' with all due respect, professor, ' the youth began, ' i do not understand how lectures would help us. isn't battle experience more valuable? it's why i spend so much time on the training grounds. i won't be the finest knight my family has ever delivered if i sit down and read of battle strategies instead of learning them through practice. i want to be a knight far better and brighter than my father was. when his highness ascends the throne, i want to give my sword to his service and help him create the faerghus he wishes. i believe in him. ' a smile crowned her lips as she regarded the professor. ' but, i suppose i believe in you, too. '
⚜ ; [ D I V I N I T Y ] —– BROW KNITS CAREFULLY at the comment of the other. A minor complaint. Perhaps. ( maybe . ) A whine, a protest! Formal, true, but still all the tame. It does sound more like barely contained EXCITEMENT though, more than anything else. At least that is what the mercenary can guage. She is earnest && willing! ( oh but mya , you don't understand . ) Innocence. Blissful IGNORANCE. The student doesn't know. There's something CHILDISH about her dreams; her fantasies. Then again, weren't all of theses students exactly just that? Children? Barely adults. They do not truly know the harsh realities of what BATTLES really bring. Though Byleth herself was not much older than them, the amount of experience between them && her was absolutely astounding. They are from completely different worlds. But how could she tell her that? ( she can't ! ) Not without care, that is.
—– ; STRANGE for her. Odd even. To witness such excitement. Not that the eagerness was entirely UNWANTED, but, for Byleth, it was foreign. It was almost as if they were speaking a different language. ( a different culture ! ) She can recognised the words, but that was all she knew. ( tell her ! you should tell her ! she deserves to know ! ) Barely holds in the sigh, but she does find it in herself to respond. ( she's so excited ! )
❝ Well... ❞ Careful, she's so very CAREFUL in responding. It's in the way she seems muted in her her mannerisms. She's calm. Gentle even! Ever since she was forced to take on the postiion of PROEFESSOR with what should have been her equal peers, she's been nervous about speaking her mind right out plainly. ( does not want to come off as too ill-mannered ! ) ❝ i know it may not make sense now, but i believe there is something valuable to learn in the lectures.❞
—– ; NEVER had such teachings herself, afterall. She was a VETERAN to battle now - as unfortunate as it was. Still young herself, && has already seen far too much. If she could have changed anything, it would have been having the chance to learn it within a fortress. Rather than fighting for her life out there - never TRULY knowing if she would live to see the next meal. Yes. They came from VASTLY different worlds. No, she doesn't YEARN for what her students had. Byleth is unable to lament for a childhood she will never know of. But it does not mean that she would keep things the same if she had the chance to do something different.
She's softer than before. ❝ i suppose i find a sort of.... comfort. knowing that i have an opportunity to give you what i never had. i do not have any desire to blindside any of you. ❞ a pause. but not because she wavers. rather, it's due to her simply musing. ❝ its best to be prepared. ❞
