I know the same could be said of all sci-fi as it ages, but the way the early artemis fowl books talk about technology is so funny 20+ years later
it'll be like "he swiftly accessed the surveillance cameras from his mobile phone, the playing-card-sized screen glowing as he tapped away on the touch-sensitive keypad" and it's meant to be the coolest thing you've ever heard of
At one point, Foaly brags about how he was able to send an audio file from a laptop to a mobile phone. It was a really crucial moment but come on dude your 2002 is showing. Earlier on, he also muses that the presence of a halfway decent webcam on said laptop might be a sign that someone is leaking Fairy technology to humans.
