New York Senator Bridget Chambers. Pro-human.

It has now been two months since the Mutant Care Unit in New York was set on fire by an arsonist still at large. There are questions yet to be answered, the two most pressing ones are the arsonist’s motives and their identity.

Jean-Paul Beaubier, activist and CEO of his company Northstar Extreme Snow Sports, is a financial backer for the mutant clinics and also sits as a board member. They have already announced plans to move forward from this ordeal, working on rebuilding the clinic pending approval from the city.

Mr. Beaubier, and most of those in the mutant community, are well aware of the scrutiny and pushback from those outside – this hasn’t been the first time the clinic has been disputed, causing division and strong debate among many in the pro-mutant and anti-mutant community alike.

“It’s incredibly difficult to link the community at large under any one singular experience of what it is to be a mutant.

There are those in the community who say it’s more of a danger and a detriment to have a clinic specifically for mutants. It’s very easy to feel like any visibility is a target on your back.” he said.

Records of calls made to the emergency dispatch number show countless of times where bomb threats have been called in. All of them but one were fake. Fortunately, the bomb never detonated.

The anti mutant rhetoric goes back many years, more prominently as recent history has revealed, was by lead by Senator Chambers, a ‘pro-human’ supporter with a big hand in how things should be run according to her ideals. It was also the movement that sparked anger when a little mutant boy was kidnapped and subsequently left in a garbage container back in 2015. Many have yet to forget that tragedy.

But among the chaos and sadness left by this event, Mr Beaubier had one last thing to add to whoever was out there, leaving the arsonist this simple invitation

“..if they have a message. I invite them to prove me wrong. Come talk to me.” they said.
