There are parts of us that we are still learning to love. Those parts that we wish we could heal with a simple positive thought. But isnβt it heartwarming and albeit, maybe even jarring, that someone could love the parts of you that you havenβt even seen yet? They have taken note of something in your character, your spirit, that will need to be nourished, healed, tended to with intention and care. Rather than conceal what they have found like a weapon and unload it in a moment when they feel attacked, they decide to love it like they love you.
Itβs not easy to love the unseen thing especially if you are blissfully unaware and already tending to the parts you know are troublesome. Perhaps you canβt even tackle this unseen thing yet, but someone that loves even the unseen parts of you decides to water it before you can even get to that side of your garden. Because of the way you have learned and are learning to love your faults and flaws, they have no doubt that when you discover this thing youβll handle it however you deem fit; in the meantime they will start the process for you by pouring watering its soil with love.
And thatβs just the thing isnβt it? They will start the process with love whereas maybe your first reaction would be to pick at it, rip it at the root, or stomp on it. They see that this unseen part should be handled with care just like the other parts of you. We are not always gentle, we donβt easily extend that same grace given to others, to ourselves. Thatβs the beauty of love going beyond what is seen or known. It extends beyond the surface, lays down beside the root, and makes room for the water that will nourish it.
The unseen thing doesnβt have to grow into something unsightly especially when it was seen in its indeterminate stageβthe stage where itβs unsure of how it wants to grow, how many leaves it will have, the color it will be, or even what it will be. How it will sprout is ultimately up to you, but in the meantime the caretaker of your heart is also tending to parts of your garden you have yet to see.
