so here's my reasoning

ancient scroll can not go, as we would lose so so much knowledge of the ancients.

eye of newt would be disastrous as it would make many spells (usefull spells unlike SUMMON GREAT PIANO, YES IM STILL ANNOYED) impossible. imagine not being able to cast "scrying eye" or "detect life"

I'm not losing my pageboy. he is very good at what he needs to do.

orb.. now orb can be substituted by spells but the problem is that those spells have VERY expensive components.

blood magic is very powerful buuut it's also very hard to get a hold of that much blood (without committing mass massacre)

owlcat is too cute to go. I would only allow it to go if I forgot that it every existed

so in conclusion the blood magic has to go... unless when the owlcat goes I forget about it (I HATE YOU FOR MAKING ME DO THIS HARD OF A CHOICE)

As a wood worker and staff maker, you might be using sandpaper that is too low of grit

Try using rougher sand paper to smooth down bumps and then finish off with a grit of around 120 to get it a smooth feel and so the laqure can penetrate the staff properly to prevent it from dry rotting or mold

If that doesn't work you might very taken wood from an elder curse tree which will reform as the wood heats up and is neigh impossible to actualy sand so you'd have to cut it to shape
