FNAF actually making vanny relevant again. i might have to come back.
I had a conversation with Hiraku on discord about Rootbound and Cass before this btw. Idk if this is about me or not but either way, what the actual fuck.
post-canon rapuznel thoughts. This was kinda inspired by @beetlejuse and @castielrisingabove and thier thoughts on post-canon raps but my take on it.
One thing that has always stood out to me about Rapunzel is how quickly her life changes.
For eighteen years she has…nothing. No future. No identity outside of what Gothel tells her. Then within days she suddenly has everything. She's the lost princess. She has parents who love her. A whole kingdom that adores her. She's in a relationship. She has a future that is completely mapped out.
And yes—those are all good things. They're infinitely better than the tower.
But in another way, the role of Princess Rapunzel is still something she's expected to become rather than something she ever truly chose. And after spending eighteen years with no future at all, of course she'd cling to the one suddenly handed to her. Cause If she isn't Corona's princess then who is she?
After Season 3, I genuinely think Rapunzel would be happy. She's excited to settle down after everything that's happened. She and Eugene get married, she's really grown into her role as princess, and everyone can see she'll make an incredible queen someday.
She truly loves Eugene. He's been her constant ever since she left the tower—the first person who chose her, believed in her, and stood beside her through everything. Of course she wants to build a life with him.
The problem is that the uncertainty she felt at the beginning of the series never actually disappeared. It just got quieter.
At first it's tiny moments. A council meeting here. A royal banquet there. She catches herself thinking, "Is this really it?" Then she immediately pushes the thought away. She's just stressed. She's adjusting. It'll pass. Except it doesn't the feeling only gets louder.
Days begin blending together. She wakes up goes to her meetings, smiles for the court, for the people, for another portrait, another banquet.
Eventually she starts feeling like she's playing Princess Rapunzel instead of actually being Rapunzel.
Then there's Eugene. Now Eugene didn't do anything wrong. Rapunzel genuinely loves him. She always will. But over time she realizes something feels…off. Not because Eugene failed her, but because she doesn't love him in the way she thought she did.
She keeps trying to ignore it because how are you supposed to recognize you're a lesbian when you spent the first eighteen years of your life isolated in a tower? Gothel certainly wasn't teaching Rapunzel about attraction or sexuality. She doesn't even have the language to describe what she's experiencing. She assumes everyone probably feels this disconnected sometimes.
Eventually the restlessness becomes impossible to ignore. She's forcing herself through every day. She starts wondering why she isn't happy when she has everything she'd dreamed about.
Her personality changes. She becomes quieter. More withdrawn. More irritable. Not because she's suddenly a different person, but because she's exhausted from pretending everything is okay.
She isn't happy anymore. If anything she's angry—angry at herself for not being happy. Angry that she can't simply appreciate the life so many people would dream about.
She's beginning to crack. She escaped one prison only to slowly realize she's built another one. This time out of duty, expectation, and the life she believes she's supposed to want.
The divorce devastates her. Not because she thinks it's the wrong decision, but because she knows how deeply it hurts Eugene. She blames herself. She feels like she's destroyed the life they built together. She's the reason why everything went wrong.
Then Corona grows…cold. People whisper. The princess couldn't even keep her marriage together. The disappointment falls almost entirely on Rapunzel. She's the one people blame. The one they pity. The one they quietly judge. Her parents struggle too, especially Frederic, who cannot understand why his daughter would walk away from what looks like the perfect life.
Now Rapunzel is truly alone. She doesn't have Eugene to lean on anymore. Cassandra is hundreds of miles away, and they can only speak through letters. She can't even hide behind the role of the perfect princess anymore.
For the first time in years, she has nothing to distract her from herself. Shes forced to sit with her thoughts. Forced her to ask herself questions she's been avoiding. Who is she without the crown? Without anyone elses expectations?
And months after the divorce—only after she's had time to grieve, question herself, and begin figuring out who she actually is—she realizes she's in love with Cassandra. and she just… sits with it. Cause what else is she supposed to do. Cassandra has her own life now.
Whether cass comes back to Corona or rapunzel leaves to seek her out on her own still not sure about. I actually do like the idea of cass initially rejecting rapunzel when she confesses. Not cruelly but just because at this point cass has moved on. Its been three years and shes mostly over her feelings for rapunzel. She loves rapunzel and she always will. but she doesn't want to put herself through that again. Cass is finally peaceful for the first time in her life and she doesn't want to ruin that.
I just think these two have a lot of trust and communication to rebuild before they actually get together. They need to relearn each other. Especially since they are not the same people they were before. Now cass is the one who has herself figured out and rapunzel is the one falling apart.
i will always mourn what lance could’ve been because what do you mean we get introduced to eugenes ex partner in crime/literal brother who was there for most of his childhood and he gets dumbed down to a shallow comic relief witch little to no development. justice for arnwaldo schnitz

How did you discover Tangled the Series?
Tried it out spontaneously

What’s Tangled the Series?
Wow, thank you so much to all who are voting on and reposting my poll!!! ❤️❤️
All of your stories are so cool! My Grandparents gifted me a DVD of Before Ever After probably around when the show was airing. (They honestly had no idea what the show was) I thought it was weird (I was young) and didn’t look into the rest of the show. I found out that the episodes were free on YouTube years later and rewatched it. I’ve loved tts since!
I guess my first introduction to TTS was back in 2018 or maybe even 2019. I remember watching some FNAF animation of ready as I'll ever be as a kid and thinking the song was cool. i even watched the actual video of the song from the show. But at that time FNAF had a chokehold on me and i thought i was too cool like disney princess stuff so i never watched it. Then fast forward a few years later. I'm just randomly scrolling and this edit of moonstone cass comes up. I remember thinking wow this looks like a really cool show. And then i decided to actually watch TTS. I really started to get into the fandom itself like a year ago when i finally left FNAF in the dust. i just really wish i would've gotten into this show earlier.
I don't talk about feelings rapunzel

shoutout to my friend for this idea
I told my friend who’s completely out of the Tangled loop about this situation and she asked if Cassandra had killed this person’s grandma. This is perfect, I must send it to her 🤣🤣🤣
I’ve been blocked by the person who bought the TTS artbook because I asked if they could share Cassandra artwork. This is so unfair. This is our only chance of seeing this artwork and because they’re petty and entitled they won’t show it to us.
The artbook should’ve gone to someone who actually cared about the series and its artists.
Cass haters suck.
THIS GUY IS ACTUALLY GOING TO HELL OH MY FUCKING GOD? i dont even care if i get blocked dude FUCK this guy
“You are acting entitled” while you’re literally gatekeeping stuff from a whole section of the fandom is insane
acting like paying 3600 is a flex too when that book was worth 1k minimum why even pay that much if you hate one of the MAIN FUCKING CHARACTERS IN THE SERIES THIS MUCH
The dumbest part is as far as I’ve seen no one has been rude to this person
I mean…I don’t think I was rude? 😭
Hey so I think it'd be cool if we could all stop lining up to pile thanks on the person who bought the TTS artbook and acting like they're a hero for posting pictures from it when they have zero stated interest in archiving, and their intentions are far from generosity or building community.
Idk guys I just think that saying you hate Cass so much that you don't even want to share art of her is frankly not nice behavior, and actively cropping her out of the pages you've already photographed is just... pretty petulant and small-minded!
Even if you absolutely love Eugene and Rapunzel, are understandably thrilled by the new art, and dislike Cass yourself, I'd also encourage you to not see this as a "yay my team won" moment and more of a failure of media preservation and a loss for the TTS fandom as a whole.
Anything in that book that hasn't been posted publicly is effectively lost media, but ftr, I want to emphasize it doesn't actually matter whether the book contains new or previously-unseen content- it's just a spiteful, petty attitude and I don't like seeing people cheer for it because they're treating Cass vs. Eugene/Rapunzel as a war or game they won points in. I know if the roles were reversed, New Dream fans would be outraged.
Refusing to even acknowledge Cassandra's presence in the book and explicitly wanting to erase her is an insult to the fandom and imo, disrespectful to the many crewmembers, artists, and writers alike who put a ton of work and love into her character. This art book was a gift to them to commemorate their efforts.
And in all honesty, it also reads to me as incredibly ungrateful/disrespectful? Spending almost 4 thousand dollars on a prized book when you have no actual interest in so much of the content within it??
Here you have a former crewmember who parted with their crew gift because they were going through hard times, and you only care enough about the work to pick through it for your favorite bits and dismiss everything else that the crew chose to celebrate? And when someone points out the value of archiving the book, the response is to tell them to just spend more than what most people spend on their monthly rent to buy their own copy- when, of course, there are no other copies available at this time and there is no store that stocks these even for the price of $3.6k.
I also don't want any mealy-mouthed "uhm weww it's their book 🥺👉👈 we should be grateful they're sharing anything at all!" replies when I would bet (certainly hope) that everyone who bid on the auction (myself included) did so at least in part because they dreamed of sharing the art book with the fandom after so long. It's a sad outcome to this little saga.
And if I said I wished that Cassandra was actually the princess of the dark kingdom what then
