Pairing: idol! Hyunjin x f! reader

He's a source of comfort on your worst days and a reason to smile on the better ones. Somehow, he manages to bring both peace and chaos into your life. Through a screen, through a song, through a simple message, he has carved out a place for himself in your heart that no label seems capable of describing. Notes: I'm so so sorry that it took so long to post this, but my life has been an absolute mess the past weeks đ I decided to name the main characterâs best friend. It started getting messy with all the âshe did, she saidâ so, yeah, meet Lily <3Â I strongly suggest to look at Hyunjin's last post from instagram before reading this, refresh your memory a little, it will help at one point.đ
The next morning, you woke up exhausted after getting barely two hours of sleep. The anticipation was driving you insane, adrenaline coursing through your veins, making it very difficult to concentrate on the sound of rain playing from your phone.
Mumbling to yourself at the sound of your alarm, making a mental note that you really need to change it, youâre wondering if itâs actually urgent to get up this early. Glancing at the time, you decide another 15 minutes in bed are not that bad of an idea. Laying on your back, you let out a long sigh and close your eyes.
"How am I going to survive today...?"
The next thing you know, Lily opens the door to your room and yells, "What the fuck are you doing?!" You look at her, confused, and rub your eyes murmuring, "What happened?"
"What happened? What do you mean, what happened? We were supposed to be at the festival by now! Where the fuck is your phone? And why are you still staring at me like that? Get the fuck up and start getting ready!"
The realization hits you like a truck. You shot out of bed and run toward the bathroom, shouting over your shoulder for her to plug in your phone and get your outfit ready. Showering with the speed of light, you try to calm down your heartbeat and start planning the next moves.
After getting dressed, your friend helps dry your hair while you're doing your makeup with much more speed and force than necessary. "I can't believe you forgot to set an alarm." You struggle to hear her over the sound of the hair dryer and furrow your brows, looking at her in the mirror. "I told you, I didn't forget. I just thought I had more than enough time to be ready, so I closed my eyes for another 15 minutes!"
"15 minutes my ass. I called you at least 8 times only on the phone. I was hoping you'd left your laptop open or something, so I tried every social media account I know you have, thinking it will go through." she rolls her eyes as a soft smile forms on your lips. You silently thank the universe for having the idea to give her a spare key to your place.
When you stand up, you look at yourself in the mirror, and the satisfaction settles deep into you.
You've recreated one of his 'ate' outfits almost perfectly, the only missing pieces being the silver necklaces and rings. The vibrant red tank top complements your skin in a way that's impossible to ignore, visible beneath the burgundy sequinned overlay. Paired with black leather pants and matching armbands, you have a single word for it.
Dangerous.
Exactly what you were aiming for. Your hair frames your face beautifully, and your makeup is perfect for a summer festival, making your eyes stand out without effort. Still, there are a few finishing touches that you canât leave behind.
You pick up the jiniret keyring from your shelf and hook it onto one of your belt loops. Lily hands you the black box, smiling from ear to ear, and helps fasten the choker around the base of your neck, making sure the 'H' rests perfectly in the center. You take the lock necklace out of its box and run your thumb across its surface before fastening it around your neck.
"Where did you put the banner?" she asks, glancing down at her phone to check the time for what feels like the 10th time in the past minutes.
"I didn't make one after all."
She looks up then, her eyebrows shooting up as a smirk you know all too well spreads across her face. "I knew you didn't actually have the guts to do it."
You meet her gaze through the mirror and roll your eyes. "I think I'm making myself pretty clear with all of this" you said, pointing at your outfit and accessories. "I don't need a piece of paper to prove it. If he sees me, he'll know."
"Are you sure he has a âpossessive kinkâ though?". You roll your eyes again, already opening your mouth to respond but she doesn't let you. "I know you don't like the idea, but maybe it's just f-"
"Lily, love, listen to me." You cut her off and turn around. "He collared his entire fandom, and he's the only one who has the key. He basically engraved his name on the back of our jeans. And to quote him, 'Stay, has to think of me. Before bed, you have to think of me. You have to like me. No matter what I do, you have to like it. Got it? If you see me on the street, just confess to me. If you see me on the street, go "Oh, it's Hyunjin. I love you". Please say it.'"
You barely pause to take a breath. "And don't even get me started on that live where someone said that other groups were trying to seduce stays, and he said 'I shouldn't settle. I will also continue to perform with the mindset of seducing stays. I really shouldn't let my guard down.â And besides all of this, which are facts, you know all the theories, we already talked about them a lot.
"Okay, okay." She raises her hands in surrender. "Let's go before you remember something else and start spiraling."
Both of you leave your apartment laughing, making sure you're not forgetting anything. Hopping in the passenger seat, you connect your phone to the speaker system, clicking on the 'I cAn'T hEaR mY tHoUgHtS' playlist. Lily drives off from the parking lot, humming along the music and tapping her fingers on the steering wheel.
When you hear the intro for Heyday, a giggle automatically escapes your lips as your eyes are closing. You can't see it, but you feel her smirk. "Thinking about something?"
You sigh and slowly open your eyes. "You know, the usual.." She doesn't say anything else, allowing you to dream with your eyes open.
Your mind flies instantly at the live he did last week, how comfortable and cozy he was. His hair looked so soft, his voice so steady and peaceful... Well... until that happened. Almost moaning at the thought, you remember so vividly the 'demonstration' of the soundproofing of his studio.
Your body tenses up at the pictures forming in your head. How he could bend you over his desk, making you forget your name and scream in pleasure, testing the soundproofing. How he could force you to kneel for him and suck his life out of his soul. How he could pin and fuck you against every surface until you would remember only his cock and his name. How he could spread your legs open and eat you like it's the last meal of his life. How he could choke you and shove his ringed and long fingers into your mouth and in your pu-
"We're here, love. Let's go, maybe we can still manage to get barricade somehow"
Fucking hell, it's gonna be a long and wet day.

You don't understand how, but you two actually managed to be in the first half of the line. Your friend got the tickets months ago, something you still don't understand, either. The vibes are immaculate; you love talking to other stays about your shared and dearest passion, complimenting outfits and dissecting theories. While chatting with a girl who was in LA the other day when he was at the guess store, both of your phones got a notification at the same time. Your eyes meet instantly, having the same thought.
Lily is sitting on the grass, leaning against the fence and scrolling on threads. When she heard that you stopped talking so suddenly, looking up, her eyes were asking what happened.
"Y-you didn't get a notification?" You ask her, never taking your eyes off the girl already staring back at you. Hoping it was an email from the festival, one of the boys coming on fans, a post from the main skz account, an update from X, anything besides what youâre fearing the most.
"No, why?"
Fuck.
You pull your phone out of your back pocket and take a deep breath before the screen lights up. Your knees almost gave out and you feel a warmness spreading all around your body.
'hynjinnnn just shared a post'
A 15 photos carousel. "Jesus Christ⌠we're fucked." you mutter, more to yourself than to anyone else. âDancing With Myselfâ from Generation X and Billy Idol starts playing from your speaker, and you feel a shiver running down your spine. You take a deep breath, already questioning if your heart will make it through this or not.
First photo Your breath hitches. Sunglasses. Cap on. Probably mirror selfie. Lips. Oh god, the lips.
Second photo Hand. Ring. Mirror selfie. Sunglasses and cap still on. Lips again. Skin. Too much skin. Hand.
Third photo Blurry. Jeans. You exhale. That felt like a checkpoint.
Fourth photo Your breath hitches again. Street. Mirror selfie. Arms. Hands. Legs. Almost useless belt. You zoom on his hands. Fuck. The necklace. Fuck.

Fourteenth photo Dogs. Hair. Happiness.
Fifteenth photo Squirrel? Squirrel.
For the last shred of sanity you have left, you close the app, denying the urge to look at them again, shove your phone back and bury your face in your sweaty hands.
"You okay, love?" Feeling Lily's hand on your shoulder, you nod.
"Give me 5 minutes. It's manageable. I've seen worst."

After the few hours spent in the line, the realization settles in. You are going to see them. You are going to see him. With your own eyes. They are gonna sing, dance and probably flirt with all of you in less than an hour. The schedule changed suddenly because of the storm that's coming, but at this point, you couldn't care less.
Unfortunately, you're not in the first row, though; a few girls are in front of you two, but the view is amazing. You can see the screens perfectly and all the corners of the stage, there's nothing obstructing your vision. While scrolling on your phone, you hear some voices a few rows behind.
"What song are you most excited for?" "From the ones that I'm pretty sure they're gonna play, probably God's Menu." "What do you mean by the ones you're sure? You didn't see the set list?" "No, I didn't. How do you even know that it's legit?" "Some stays filmed in the morning when they did the soundcheck. Do you want to hear it?" "Well, sure, why not."
Before you could say something, wanting to ask them to keep it low because you didn't want any spoilers right before the concert, you hear a collective scream-moan-whimper-gasp. One of them belonged to Lily.
Chan.
Actually, no. Fucking Christopher.
"Is he actually fucking insane?" Her eyes were wide open, mouth agape, eyebrows raised, completely in shock.
"What did he say?"
"I quote, âWarning. Ready to get wet?!â"
"Excuse me?"
"And now he's like 'I meant we're spraying water'. Fuck off Chris, I'm so tired of your teasing."
She replies with something shortly and shoves the phone back in her purse. You make a little fun of her for getting so worked up, hoping that she will calm down.
At first, it doesn't seem to work. Lily keeps her arms crossed, shoulders tense, staring somewhere into the distance while you bump your shoulder against hers.
Nothing.
You do it again. This time she glares at you and rolls her eyes.
Such a brat sometimes.
You start pointing out random things happening around you: the poor security guard trying to manage hundreds of people, the girl who had already cried three times before the concert had even started, the guy carrying enough merch to open his own stand, anything to distract her.
Slowly, the tension begins to leave her body, and when you see a soft smile showing up on her face, the notification from bubble echoes again.
"Oh, for fuck's sake Christopher!" she growls, pinching the bridge of her nose.
It didn't matter anymore what he sent, she was pissed at him. Again. You opened your mouth to say something, but one of the girls standing at the barricade looks at you and starts talking.
"First of all, I fucking love your outfit." You can literally see the appreciation in her eyes. And just like yourself, she had a Leebit hooked up at her waist. She adds, smirking, "It looks like you're owned entirely by him."
A smile instantly spreads across your face when you don't detect even the slightest hint of judgement in her voice. "Thank you so much, but look at you! Fucking amazing, bet he will love seeing Leebit hanging like that." You laugh, remembering how Minho kinda tortures his skzoo every chance he gets. Her eyes widened at your words. "He would be so proud.", you add and the two of you burst into laughing, while the other girl stood beside her looking angry.
"Can we focus?" she muttered, rolling her eyes.
The Leebit girl immediately straightened. "Right. Sorry." She started fidgeting with the plush hanging from her belt. "We actually wanted to ask for a favor."
You felt yourself tense slightly. Besides you, Lily immediately notices and starts rubbing a reassuring hand along your lower back.
Minhoâs girl pointed to her friend. "My bestie here wants to get out of the crowd before the show starts."
She rolls her eyes and almost growls. "I need to get out." "Okay, she needs to get out." "There's a difference, you know?"
You exchanged a glance with Lily.
Interesting.
The Leebit girl continued. "She's terrified of getting sprayed with water."
"Terrified is a strong word." "You spent twenty minutes showing me videos." "Because everyone keeps calling it 'a little water' when it's basically a fucking flood. And besides that, who the fuck thinks that itâs not weird to want to be splashed by some random dudes?" Her eyes are rolling again, harder this time. "I just don't want to spend the entire concert soaked," she grumbles.
Well, at least you know you're gonna be drenched by the end of it, even if they don't spray water.
The Leebit girl sighed. "So I wanted to help her get out, but..." She glanced at the barricade and immediately looked heartbroken. "...I don't want to lose my spot."
Suddenly everything made sense. The fidgeting, the nervousness behind her voice and the heavy breathing. "I was wondering if maybe... you could save it for me? Just for a few minutes? I'll take her out and come straight back."
You actually stared at her for a second. This girl was willingly giving up the barricade. For her bitchy friend.
Temporarily, sure. But still.
Lily looked just as shocked. "Wait, seriously?" She nods and your friend raises an eyebrow, "You're trusting complete strangers with barricade?"
The girl laughed nervously. "You don't seem like the type to steal a spot. And-", before either of you could answer, her friend snorted. "You'd be surprised."
The atmosphere immediately shifts and you feel the anger flooding your body. The Leebit girl's smile disappears as she is massaging her temples. "Oh my fucking god, Jillian. Donât fucking act like that."
"What? What do you mean?" She asks with voice raised, as her eyes are narrowed to slits, jaw clenched tight.
"Can you stop being a b-â Her voice stutters. âSo negative for, at least, five minutes?"
"I'm being realistic."
"No, you're being fucking rude."
The girl rolled her eyes so hard you were genuinely concerned for her eyesight. You decided to ignore that, not wanting a random bitch ruining your day, and turned back to the nicer one. "Honestly, I don't mind."
The relief on her face was immediate. "Really?"
"Of course."
"Thank you." Then she looked at Jillian. "See? That wasn't so hard."
Her friend scoffed. "Congratulations. You found two normal people in this crowd."
Your eyebrows shot up. What the fuck was her problem?
The girl caught your expression and immediately groaned. "Ignore her."
"I'm literally right here." "And you're embarrassing me." "I'm embarrassing you?" "Yes."
Jillian crossed her arms. "You're the one making deals with strangers because you're desperate to maybe touch some idol's hand."
Ouch.
The words hit harder than she probably intended, or at least, you hope she didn't actually mean to say that. The Leebit girl's face immediately fell. For the first time, she looked genuinely hurt. "I just wanted to see him up close."
"It's weird. And sad."
The silence that followed was brutal. Lily moved her weight from a foot to the other, visibly uncomfortable. The girl with the Leebit swallowed. "Then why did you come?"
Jillian opened her mouth. Closed it. Then looked away, rolling her eyes. The answer didn't come. A few seconds later, her friend took a slow breath and forced a smile. "Can we not do this right now?"
The other girl shrugged. "Whatever."
You felt bad for her. Really bad. Especially because she still turned to her friend and gently grabbed her wrist. "Let's get you out before it gets worse." Despite everything, she was still worried about her.
Before leaving, she looked back at you. "Thank you. Seriously."
"We'll keep your spot."
A genuine smile finally appeared on her face.
Then she disappeared into the crowd, dragging her grumpy friend behind her while you and Lily moved closer to the barricade to hold the space. Your friend watched them go, slowly shaking her head. "She deserves a better best friend."
"That's exactly what I was thinking." you snorted, gripping the metal bar.
In that exact moment, reality hits you like a train for the 5th time in only one night.
Youâre at the fucking barricade.
Lily seems to feel the same thing as you as she stutters âLetâs..letâs try to not pass out before it even starts, okay?â She looks at you, breathing sharp and fast, concern all over her face. âBaby, you look pale.â
âNo, Iâm not.â
âYes, yes, you are.â
You sighed, frustrated. âIâm literally wearing foundation, chill, please.âÂ
Before she can argue back, a sudden wave of screams erupts from somewhere deeper in the crowd. The screen flickers a deep blue, and you hear the anthem begin.
Stray Kids.
The guitar starts playing, sending the vibrations straight to your soul.
Stray Kids. Stray Kids.
Your pulse spikes and a rush of heat floods your chest, your arms, your face. Some clips from Creed are playing on the screen, and the whispered voice raises goosebumps all over your skin.
Stray Kids. Stray Kids. Stray Kids.
Your heart is beating so hard you're suddenly aware of it in places you shouldn't be. Your throat. Your fingertips. Somewhere behind your ears. Between your tights. Everywhere. You are blinking fast at the snippets from Do it and the addition of voices.
Stray Kids. Stray Kids. Stray Kids. Stray kids.
Every emotion seems to hit at once. Excitement. Disbelief. Anticipation. Pure happiness. Too much happiness. Enough happiness to become panic. Your stomach flips and your chest feels too small. Your smile hurts, and you want to scream, but canât. Instead, you stand completely frozen, staring at the screen, overwhelmed by all the things your body feels at once. Lily is in the same state as you, gripping the fence like it personally offended her. The next part of the anthem echoes in your mind.
Stray Kids everywhere all around the world.
And somehow, despite feeling seconds away from combusting, all you can think is:
Fuck. Youâre finally going to see him.
