TIME: 41 DAYS (i worked on it on/off + tonss of trial n error took place)

MATERIALS:

2 hollow styrofoam sphere halves

1 styrofoam board

foam cutter (BEWARE POTENTIAL BURNS)

1 clear ornament ball (carefully cut off & sand the tabs off btw)

A sheet of mesh

2 tubs of lightweight spackle/drywall putty

sandpaper

some cushion foam (mine were like 3 inches thick)

remote controlled lights

6 bamboo skewers

A hot glue gun

contact cement

green txt = optional stuff!!

THE ACTUAL TUTORIAL

1. Hot glue both of ur sphere halves together & trace the mouth shape + bottom hole for ur head

Mark guidelines for the center of the face + placement for the eyes and ears

2. Draw & cut out the ears from the styrofoam board, along with the mouth

Temporarily tape the pieces together to make sure everything looks right & trim if anything is off

3. Stab 3 skewers into the head on both sides & push the ears onto them. Add hot glue to ears before fully pushing down 4 stability

If the skewers go all the way past the skull, cut the excess off & hot glue the holes so they dont sink deeper

4. poke 2 holes in head for the light wires

5. glue foam & mesh inside the head

put extra foam on the sides to secure ur head if needed!! my head is tiny so mine r very thick lol

6. This is the fun but VERY TIME CONSUMING part!! (ﾟωﾟ) mask the mesh mouth and bottom of head w/ tape & spread a BUTT LOAD of spackle all over the head!! The layers should be about half an inch thick or so. Its rly up 2 u!!

The purpose of the spackle is to both create a smoother texture & protect the styrofoam from shrinking in contact with spray paint later on. If any area is left exposed or too thinly covered, it will leave a rough texture and can make tiny holes when spray painting. Thankfully, they can be covered with more spackle :]

7. Sand once dry (obvi sand in an open & ventilated area + wear a mask 2 prevent breathing in particles). I would also sand the inside of ur clear ornament halves to kinda blur the inside, after sanding the head

9. spray paint!!!!!

spray some UV protection all over just in case, esp if ur wearing this outside in the daytime :> do this after you attach the eyes too

10. once dry, remove tape & attach the eyes onto head w/ contact cement. i used contact cement to prevent a weird clunky texture surrounding the eyes, but the yellowish tint did end up showing thru anyways like paint :/ a liquidish & clear superglue might work much better

11. slip the light wires into the eye holes, then hot glue them into place

i chose to keep the battery pack itself loose, & hid it under my shirt so it could detect my remote better. u can choose to tape it inside the head too if u dont want it dangling around; altho it might be a bit more difficult for the remote to be detected O>O

12. CONGRATS!! an ok mau5head!! :D Its not the best but #whatevs!!
