For the BBC, Benedict will be playing the villainous Richard III in the upcoming second series of The Hollow Crown. His other BBC credits include the title role in Sherlock for which he won an Emmy, received three BAFTA nominations and a Golden Globe nomination and BBC Two’s Emmy-nominated adaptation of Parade’s End. At the National Theatre Benedict starred alongside Jonny Lee Miller in 'Frankenstein' and in Thea Sharrock’s revival of 'After the Dance.' My nephew is visiting in New York City and saw David Tennant in Richard II on stage tonight. And guess who he sat near? Yep, Benedict Cumberbatch. He just now called to tell me but I was out walking the dogs so missed his call.

Thankfully, The Hamlet star enjoyed a lesson in meditation at Nepal’s Shechen Monastery during a break from filming Marvel flick Doctor Strange. Benedict was pictured alongside Lama Dilgo Khyentse Yangsi Rinpoche before the Buddhist monk gave him a private blessing. The Doctor Strange cast and crew flew to Nepal in November to shoot part of the blockbuster, which is set for release at the end of the year. Part of the story takes place in the Himalayas, where the lead character becomes the Master of the Mystic Arts.
