Frisk wasn’t supposed to be here, wandering the corridors. They’re supposed to be in the dining room, listening to music they couldn’t hear and eating pizza that was slimy to the touch—one could certainly understand why they had been so eager to leave and find a private place.
Their attendance at this event had been their mother, Toriel’s, idea. During a conversation with their new neighbors, the topic came up that one of the neighbor’s sons was having a birthday party. Naturally, Toriel suggested they should attend, and wouldn’t it be nice for Frisk to get to know some kids their own age, and after seeing her eyes light up like that, it became too hard to turn her down. However, the age difference and communication barrier was just too much, and this caused Frisk to feel even more isolated as the children ignored them and played with each other. The affairs of monsters were so much easier to understand than that of their fellow children.
The child happened upon a sign dangling from the door knobs of Pirate’s Cove—out of order. What a perfect place for them to tuck away, since no one will come knocking anytime soon. An experimental turn of the knob, and much to their delight, the child found that the door was infact unlocked. As long as a staff member couldn’t see them, they were free to slip away if they wanted to. Frisk looked both up and down the hall, to make sure no one was watching, then slipped inside as quickly as possible.
The doors slammed shut behind them. Finally. Some peace.
In the center of the room, drawing Frisk’s eyes, was a stage, adorned with dark blue curtains decorated with nautical symbols. There was a hook peaking out from the curtains. Frisk didn’t remember seeing that when they peeked in to the room earlier. They must have simply not noticed it—after all, no one else was in the room with them, and it couldn’t have moved on its own… right?
Cautiously, Frisk began to creep toward the stage, balancing on their tip-toes, craning their head to peer behind the curtain from a distance.
Foxy steadied his breath-- he froze in place like a deer in headlights. They had noticed him. Nothing could bring PANIC more quickly to Foxy then a child coming near him.
He was broken-- unpredictable.
He didn’t want to hurt them.
Doing what any scared ANIMAL would-- as soon as Frisk showed signs of getting close, he growled and SNAPPED his jaws. Maybe if he scared them away, this problem would be solved very quickly.
“ Yar!!! ” He COUGHED-- Man, speaking was getting harder and harder every day he rotted in this room. “ Shouldn’t be here-- ” The fox snapped his teeth once more and sunK far back behind the purple curtains.
