My @secretsazed 2018 present for @thundxrboy!Β Β
You asked for maps, so hereβs a topographical map of Alethkar.Β I nearly went with a DND scale map of the Kholin palace but figured asking if you play would have given the game away.Β I figured this exercise in speculation was more of a fandom contribution than a redraw, no matter how fancy.
As for inspiration, I referenced the lovely color version of Roshar from the digital editions (i believe is the source), which is stylized if not representative, especially in regards to the north eastern section along the Herdazian border.Β I also used a few global topographical maps as a guide for color palates β warmer tones are of course the higher elevation points.Β If youβre looking for an answer to why thereβs a higher elevation in the West, crem build up??? tbh this project had me questioning the whole time why there are even mountains if Roshar has no tectonic plates to begin with.
N.B. β Hearthstone is omitted on purpose.Β The original image stylizes it to be a later handwritten addition which I felt was out of place. Triangles indicate horizontal control points (determined by geodetic survey).Β Rathalas is shown as one of these rather than a city marker given its lower elevation compared to the surrounding area.Β
