665K Tweets for BGT Final Saturday’s Britain’s Got Talent final saw an impressive 665,119 Tweets during its live broadcast, making it the 2nd most tweeted show of 2014 (behind The Brit Awards). Over 180,000 individuals joined the conversation on Twitter, helping the show secure a huge 97.4% share of TV Tweets between 7pm and 9.30pm - 1.2% up on last year’s final. Twitter favourites Bars and Melody were the most talked about act, mentioned in 225,000 Tweets across the evening, whilst eventual winners Collabro were mentioned in 41,000 Tweets. The show’s 665K Tweets easily sat at the top of this series, but didn’t surpass last year’s 820,000-Tweet final, which included 168,000 posts about the infamous #egggate moment.
Soccer Aid Grows by 100K Tweets 479,050 Tweets were sent during ITV’s charity show, Soccer Aid, up by over 100,000 Tweets on 2012’s total. The fourth most Tweeted about show of the year so far, Soccer Aid's peak moment came during Rest of the World coach Jose Mourinho’s tackle of Olly Murs, resulting in 11,716 TPM. Unsurprisingly, Mourinho was the most talked about person from the match with over 72K Tweets, whilst professional footballer Clarence Seedorf second with over 54K mentions. With #SoccerAid2014 trending Worldwide, there was no surprise that the charity event took the top spot on the Sunday's leaderboard. Sunday Brunch is C4’s Top Tweeted of 2014 Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch saw an incredible surge in Tweets this week thanks to an appearance from boyband 5SOS, who helped the show collect fourteen times its previous highest total. The show saw 201,394 Tweets, which is easily the highest we have ever recorded for a pre-midday show. This is Channel 4’s top tweeted single programme of 2014 so far, and the third most Tweeted show we have on record for the channel, behind documentary Crazy About One Direction and Stand Up To Cancer. The hashtag #Ask5SOSSB racked up over 78,000 Tweets whilst also trending worldwide. The peak moment of the programme saw 7,466 TPM, when the band tweeted about being on the show. Despite this mammoth total, Sunday Brunch just missed out on the day's top spot to ITV’s Soccer Aid. 239K Tweets for Big Brother Launch Nights Channel 5’s new series of Big Brother launched on Thursday and Friday last week, generating 239,000 Tweets across both nights. Thursday’s show saw the biggest reaction on Twitter, with 185,000 Tweets. Tweets peaked at 3,924 TPM as Steven entered the house at 9.26pm, with a secondary peak of 3,758 TPM as Pauline joined the new housemates. Thanks to the live on-screen hashtags shared for each housemate, the show saw a host of UK Twitter trends including #bbdanielle, #bbhelen, #bbmark and #bbuk, whilst a number of housemate hashtags also trended worldwide.
