Light grimaced at the other manās rotten attitude. āYouāre being awfully boring,ā Light said, turning his head toward his traveling companion, āYou said this was some sort of alien courtroom, right? If youāre going to play a joke, at least play your part. Have a little...
Light had no idea what was going on, but he did recognize the sound of a gavel from across the room. Perhaps this was a courtroom. Perhaps somebody just had a gavel, and this wasn't a courtroom at all. He couldn't be sure, considering the fact that he didn't know the man he had traveled with, and this hardly seemed the time for introductions.
"I said I needed a cravat, not an ascot," Light corrected. It wasn't long before he felt somethibg sharp on his neck. He shouted in pain and leaned on the desk for support. "What..." He wanted to say something, but his knees grew weak, and he progressively started to have trouble forming words. Soon, however, he could hear the words of the people around him. Slowly, he started to understand this otherworldly language. Had he been injected with a translation device?
"What was that..?" He finally managed.
It would have been a day like any other if it wasnāt for a certain slip of paper (spoiler alert: a letter!), carefully written in Braille so as to make sure its recipient had the knowledge and ability to decipher it, laying upon Light Fieldās desk:
Dear Light, How are you? This is how...
Light made his way to his desk with the intention of reading some files on a certain... Organization. he sat down, and to his surprise, he heard something shift on his desk. All of his documents were carefully filed and held down with paperweights. Why was something shifting on his desk?
Briefly, he moved his hands over his desk. It wasn't long until he had found the source of the noice. It felt like a paper product. Perhaps it was some sort of official document, a briefing for a new mission. He carefully moved his fingers over the beautifully-written Braille, something he barely encounters anymore. This wasn't the work of a machine, Light noted. This letter was hand-written.
It was, indeed, a letter, Light confirmed. It was addressed rather casually and included quirky speech patterns. However, He would never believe he'd ever hear from Akane Kurashiki again. How did she even know where to find him?
Light could have assumed this was a setup, but what reason did Akane have to do anything to him anymore? He was only pulled into the second Nonary Game to remind Gentarou Hongou what kind of psychological harm he had impressed on him and his fellow survivors. Akane wasn't going to harm him. No, if anything, she wanted to reminisce.
He knew no harm would come to him, and that's why he found himself sitting inside the appointed shop at the appointed time. He had Clover take him to the unfamiliar shop under the guise that he was meeting up with a friend , but she had long since left.
āWhoās your friend?ā
āIāve told you about her before. Remember Aiya?ā
"Of course. You told me that she always dmells distinctly of jasmine."
Immediately, Light came to a stop and pulled Clover close to him. He wasnāt sure how far away the curb was, and he didnāt want to accidentally fling her into oncoming traffic. āDo you think weāve gone far enough?ā He asked between short breaths.
Before Clover could give...
The explosion was loud. They had been running for awhile, but the explosion still sounded as if the device were detonated right next to them. The air grew hot, and Light subconsciously tightened his hold on Clover. If he could not get her further away, he would still try to shield her with his body. He would protect her by any means. For a moment, everything was silent. The world seemed to stand still, and a shred of panic creeped it's way into Light's consciousness. When Clover moved in his arms, he relaxed his mind and his body. She was okay, and that's all that mattered
After a few long moments, he muttered, "How big was it?"

āClover, after taking place in that sick Nonary Game, I feel like nothing is impossible.ā
āWell I⦠I guess so⦠It still seemed pretty innocent when my friend talked about it, though.ā
"Who's your friend?"
āRight,ā he confirmed. He couldnāt afford to stop running, but he also couldnāt let Clover fall behind. At least he had an idea of where they were. On the left, they should have just passed Hazelnut. On the right, they would be coming up to Cranberry. He tried to focus on...

āItās 2027. The government probably has some sort of weird cloning device.ā
āDonāt tell me you really believe all that Area 51 junk.ā
"Clover, after taking place in that sick Nonary Game, I feel like nothing is impossible."
I need a cravat if weāre going to continue with these proceedings.
āItās very likely that I only heard rumors, but I donāt know⦠I find the entire concept very interesting. Oh, there was one part that I found especially bizarre. Apparently, all the higher ranked agents are clones of one man.ā
āClones? Pfft⦠I dunno what you were reading, but that has to be fake. We donāt have stuff like cloning yet, unless someone had like, a ton of twins. That sounds like itād be painful though.ā

āWell, that was rude,ā Light snapped, feigning offense, āIf not people, what are they? Iām sure youāre just overreacting, or perhaps you just canāt identify animals.ā Light didnāt know who he was talking to. He didnāt recognize the other manās voice, nor did he care to. He...

It's the only way to have a good time in court."
āApparently, not many people know about Free the Soul. Itās an organization thatās trying to eradicate humanity and replace it with an āultimate being.ā Itās being kept on the down low, and itās only talked about by Free the Soul members of conspiracy theorists. Thatās why...

āI think I might have just destroyed the parkā¦ā Light complained. He continued to run, never loosening his grip on Cloverās hand. Instead of trying to make light of the situation further, Light commanded, āClover, I need you to be my eyes. Where are we going?ā
āNo...
"Right," he confirmed. He couldn't afford to stop running, but he also couldn't let Clover fall behind. At least he had an idea of where they were. On the left, they should have just passed Hazelnut. On the right, they would be coming up to Cranberry. He tried to focus on the dounds of cars passing by and people chatting as they ran past. At that point, he just hoped he wouldn't accidentally crash into anything.
The button didnāt seem to do anything drastic. The room felt slightly cooler, and he could hear low chatter in a language he didnāt understand. Perhaps they were transported somewhere? However, he had never heard of a working device that could transport people to other...

Light didn't know who he was talking to. He didn't revognize the other man's voice, nor did he care to. He seemed incredibly stupid. Instead of explaining who he was, Light stepped forward. He seemed to be walking on tile. His shoes clicked on the floor as he walked forward. After a few paces, he ran into something hard... Wooden, perhaps? It appeared to be a table.
Light felt the table for a few moments to conform that it was, in fact, a table. After a minute of uncomfortable silence, Light raised his head and addressed this 'courtroom.'
"Citizens of the court!" He announced, playing along with this other man's game, "I cannot understand the language you're soeaking in, nor can I see what you look like, but I do know one thing for sure. I know that this man and I do not belong here. Tell me, where are we?"
Light was a curious person that learned better through experimentation. Yes, Clover had asked him not to press the button, but she had also neglected to tell Light why he couldnāt press the button or what the button did. Naturally, he had pressed it. He could feel Cloverās...

"Itās an organization called Free the Soul. I listened to an article about them. I thought I told you about this. Itās rather interesting, actually. Do you want me to tell you more?"
āI donāt remember you saying anything about them⦠But if thereās an article going around, then why is it weird that people would talk about it? It sounds like kinda scary stuff.ā
"Apparently, not many people know about Free the Soul. It's an organization that's trying to eradicate humanity and replace it with an 'ultimate being.' It's being kept on the down low, and it's only talked about by Free the Soul members of conspiracy theorists. That's why I find it odd."
ā
Iāll generate a number between 1-30 and weāll see what happensā¦27: our characters are teleported to the court room of an alien world, where they must defend humanity on the charges that they are a barbaric species unable to avoid self mutilation and destruction.
āWhat the hell man? What did you do?!ā Dio looked around in a panic, he heart in his throat as he looks around the foreign room. Dio swallowed and realized that this room looked far too much like a courtroom for his liking. āShit, shit shit shit shitā¦" he muttered to himself.
"I'm not sure," Light chuckled, taking amusement in the other male's tone. "You handed me a device, and I accidentally pressed a button. Do you think it was wise to entrust a blind man with a foreign object?"
The button didn't seem to do anything drastic. The room felt slightly cooler, and he could hear low chatter in a language he didn't understand. Perhaps they were transported somewhere? However, he had never heard of a working device that could transport people to other places. "What did it do?"
