Nocturne is an upcoming personal project dedicated to the night and the darker side of the human experience. The collection of images will feature never-before-seen illustrations, each one representative of nocturnal symbolism. It is an ode to the moon and the stars, to the dark and the light, to our dreams and our nightmares.
The series will feature five different themes, each comprised of multiple personal illustrations dedicated to that particular theme:
Darkness
Moon
Blood
Dream
Nightmare
Each new piece of art will be published twice a month, until the project will be released as a book in 2020. My goal in sharing my journey through this personal project is that lasting connections will form as we share experiences via the themes and symbols depicted in the artwork.

Iâm excited to share a wraparound jacket I made for Simon & Schuster earlier this year. When the AD emailed me asking for some ideas with snakes in the main characterâs hair, how could I resist?? Shoutout to the incredible Sonia Chaghatzbanian for the beautiful typography and cover design đ and thank you to everyone at S+S for the opportunity! I got to meet their team in NYC a few weeks back and they were absolutely the loveliest people. âI loved to sleep with the window open. Rainy nights were the best of all: I would open the window and put my head on the pillow and close my eyes and feel the wind on my face and listen to the trees sway and creak.â

A post about social media likes vs. comments and the value of being in the moment.
No best nine from me this year, as I have grown to appreciate comments and conversation way more than likes and follows. Quality over quantity I guess.

I like people who have a sense of individuality. I love expression and anything awkward and imperfect - because thatâs natural and thatâs real.

Done for the Month of Fear 2017 second week, âshiver.âÂ
I really enjoy doing the Month of Fear/Love challenges, because they give me an excuse to try things I donât normally do. Er, yes, I could just do them anyway with my own stuff, but⌠I donât, for some reason. So itâs great as an impetus.Â
Three guesses what kind of thing I was trying with this one, and the first two donât count. ;)Â

Month of Fear Week 2Â
Julie Dillon
(Part 1)
The woman ran away from the fire of the setting sun and into the night, not thinking of where she was going or what she would do. The night grew cold and forbidding woods swelled up dark around her, but still she ran. Branch and bramble tore at her dress and skin, leaving both in tatters.
Finally, the fever of panic broke, and she collapsed in exhaustion under the gnarled roots of a tree. She shivered against the bitter night wind. Closer than sheâd like, wolves howled and creatures gibbered at the stars. But what right did she have to fear monsters when she was clearly a monster herself? Surely she be a poison to these woods, just as she had her village. She pulled her body in tight, as much to protect from the cold as to protect world from her. The fire she had burned those men back in the village surely had turned her heart to ash as well.
to be continuedâŚ

Bookreaders survey
Hey everyone, this is a little off-topic but I could use your help for my diploma thesis, an illustrated collection of short stories and poems by Edgar Allan Poe. I have to do a survey about book consumption. If you got 5 to 10 minutes and want to help me I would be really happy if you'd fill out my questionnaire. All data is ofcause anonymous and for internal use only. Link to the survey:Â https://goo.gl/forms/XwieLuK8U7N7Hp893
