Just finished speeding through chapter 1 of p5x on yt!! and man, I know the writing is pretty questionable for the first two chapters of the game, and I can see the problems myself, but... maybe because I went in expecting them, I still had a lot of fun with it honestly. and of course because i'm motoha-brained i need to go on about her for a bit-
she's such a sweet person, but one thing i also really like about her is that she feels such a strong sense of responsibility for others. it's to the point where it's honestly a detriment as well as a strength. like... you could argue that her feeling so guilty about what happened with kiuchi is ridiculous - it clearly wasn't her fault - but for me it actually really works, because the intensity of the guilt she felt really informs me about what kind of a person she is?? idk. i suspect that even if it hadn't been the incident with kiuchi, she'd always be the type of person who'd take it really hard when she perceives herself as having hurt someone else.
which is hashtag relatable but also just really cool as a key aspect of her character, i think! especially combined with (p5x spoilers for ch5 warning here!) how hard she takes aran's situation, and her desire for them to "live together", as in, live without being weighed down by feelings of guilt, even when they feel they shouldn't... i think that's an important value to her in general, people being able to move on from the past and wanting to live, because it's something she's felt in her life so strongly. ...i mean that could be me reading too deeply into something that's not strictly canon, but. still!
i've written too much already but the point is, motoha my beloved I LOVE HER SM.... <333 she's just so compassionate, and i love how her motivation for continuing being a thief (just started chapter 2 this morning!) is very rooted in wanting to help more people, too. reading just this post, you could argue she's almost "too perfect", like some characters who are super kind and selfless all the time actually tend to annoy me actually lmao, but for some reason i don't feel that way with her at all?? i'll have to think more about why she works for me so well, though!

i wanna go through strikers again so i can deepen my appreciation for zenkichi some more tbh. i've always loved him AND I STILL DO but ever since tactica released i've been much more toshiro-brained instead...................
i suspect toshiro will remain my top fave, and i think a part of me is still sad that zenkichi gets so much more attention than him (in fan content especially) - but tbh i get it because i mean. it's zenkichi. s tier character tbh!!! but yeah, i miss the days when my zenkichi muse was super strong so i think i'll try and play through strikers - maybe even myself & start to finish?? but we'll see!
toshiro starter call again!! because my muse for him is finally back and i could not be happier about it tbh ;w;
today i think about toshiro + eri and how an actual conversation about the metaverse / a metaverse reveal COULD end up going down......... mostly for fic ideas since i'd love to write something for it, but.
firstly, i'm trying to sort out my thoughts on how i think eri would react and if she'd believe him. at first i could see her thinking he's joking or worrying for his mental health, but also finding his story too specific and almost too crazy to be entirely imagined - plus, she wants to believe in toshiro just because it's him telling her. i think it'd be interesting if she wanted to believe him but had trouble wrapping her head around the implications/maybe feeling guilty about having any doubts at all??
sort of like... she's worried that if he's telling the truth and she doesn't believe him, that'd be hurtful to him or hard on him in some way. but if he is in some way mistaken about what happened, her encouraging his perception might make things worse for him, too?? although... i need to take into account her personality specifically here - i'm not sure if she'd be as skeptical as some others might (understandably) be, though i'm not 100% decided on that.
the other question is how i'd want to write a fic about it - would it be more fun to have him spill everything to her (maybe on accident) at first, and she's having to process it then and there, OR maybe a scenario where she overhears something/gets some possibly misleading or incomplete information out of context and starts her own investigation............ idk. both ideas sound fun to me. i wanna figure out what her feelings would be on his experience once she actually knows it's true/when they've got past the "hard to believe" stage, but for that i need to work on my eri headcanons in general i think first.................. which is ALSO something i really want to do atm!! like what her journey and life was like after the accident, how she caught up to him, etc.

ref below because well. i know no one here plays arcaea. neither do i, at least anything after act I because i'm a switch player...
actually, thinking about toshiro ideas some more - i'm now toying with the idea of putting him in a scenario where he feels like he has to choose between phantom thievery/metaverse activities and politics. or moreso like... having him trying to tackle both, feeling obligated to pursue both, but not being able to handle the demands and the time and effort it takes to completely commit to both paths.
idk, i might end up scrapping the concept or not liking it in the end, but still. i think that if he had to choose just one, he'd want to choose politics - but it would be a tricky situation in this scenario because the metaverse stuff feels so important too - after all, it seems like there's some near-apocalyptic event happening every other day in the personaverse, and he knows those fighting need all the help they can get!
the idea would be for him to learn that the contributions he makes (in the real world) still matter, arguably even more than any possible contributions he could make in the metaverse... but idk, again - i don't feel like he'd particularly have trouble realizing that to begin with?? so maybe the whole concept is ooc/a non-issue. plus i think toshiro getting to be a politician AND occasionally help with World Threatening Supernatural situations when they come up is cool and i kind of want that for him as a result, LMAO........ even if it's less realistic. i just think him being a secret badass and no-one knows about it is fun even if incredibly self-indulgent too!

Between that and the ominous feelings of danger, Toshiro's screaming was the last sound Teddie's fuzzy ears cared to pick up. Ensuring their safety was top priority. All their running got them far closer to their objective, but the bear still didn't want to risk any big fight he could usually avoid. This was especially true when he was with a rescue.
"Keep running forward! You'll find a train platform! That's where we need to go to escape!" The small bear turned around while giving this command.
He set his sights towards the enemy on their tail. Raising his paw up high, he allowed himself to be consumed in light. With a yell, his Persona appeared behind him. It wasn't here to attack, but to construct a large wall of ice. Whatever was chasing them couldn't harm them now. Or at the very least they'd have all the time they needed to leave.
With his blockade created, Teddie ran back towards Toshiro and met him near the platform. Regular humans were really slow in shadow nests.
"OK! We're safe now..." He announced while breathing out in relief, "...I should be able to help you leave. I'll come out with you." It wasn't like he had any other pressing matters to attend to.
By the time he meets up with Teddie again at the platform, Toshiro's honestly a little faint-headed. Even with the threat - theoretically - gone, if anything, he feels even more afraid than before, a heaviness in his bones making him sink into dread as it truly starts to hit him how much danger he's actually in.
Because even though it still feels like he's dreaming, and his rational mind is screaming at him that none of this can possibly be real... he can tell, deep down, that it has to be. Dreams don't feel like this. And if a place like this is real, yet no-one in the outside world knows it, he can only think of one explanation - that anyone else who's found themselves here before didn't live to tell the tale.
He feels sick. It's been a long time since he's felt such terror - and he's never before had to be afraid for his life. Teddie seems to have calmed down after declaring them safe, but when Toshiro replies, his face is worryingly pale; expression distant.
"This is crazy..." he whispers. He must've thought and said those words a hundred times already, but this time, they finally come with a sense of acknowledgement - the knowledge that yes, it's crazy, but it's also the truth. Then, he snaps his attention back to Teddie before gulping, suddenly taking on a more wary demeanor, though he's doing his best to keep himself together and focus.
"Are you sure?" Toshiro asks, not knowing whether or not to believe the bear's words. "I mean, if we can leave, I'm not going to say no, just..." It feels hard to imagine that it's actually that easy.
"...No, you're right. I'll just- follow you, I suppose."
suddenly thinking about toshiro and haru dynamic stuff today??? i'd love to write a fic centered on the two of them, though i have no clue what the plot would be for it, lol. maybe i could involve some of my favorite persona-specific concepts like. having everyone (including themselves??) forget about the phantom thieves and having to recover those memories, or like... something, i have no clue. they are just on my brain (which i'm really glad for, it's been a while!)
also i think something where somehow toshiro meets haru's dad would be fun. i would love to see how an interaction like that might go. do you guys think yoshiki could've known kunikazu okumura or had contact with him before canon................... anyway toshiro's adopting haru now there's nothing you can do about it!!!
