Note from Yana Toboso about Ciel outfit: Draft of the clothing for the cover. Ciel’s clothes are often limited to one time only, so I adjusted them as I drew them, so this is really a draft. This time, the theme was “Clothes that look like oysters if you look at them from a distance”. I tried to express the striped pattern of a seashell with pleated frills, but readers couldn’t see it.

This was totally on impulse. I really love how it turned out, it was my first time successfully using white lashes, so hurray for that. I currently have a poll up on my Instagram comparing my both my Komaeda cosplays from 2020 and. 2022, so if you’d like to put your two cents in on that be my guest.

I’ve had insane amounts of inspiration lately, but so little time, and the school year is about to start yet again… I’m dreading it, but I know that I need my education purely for the fact that I’m learning technical skills that I desperately need. Things like pro paper-mache, poly-thermal plastics, sewing classes, pattern making classes… I started this blog in the hopes of learning and sharing all of these skills with the world. I know I’m pretty slow on posting, but I’m gearing up to learn how to maximize my time so I can keep doing what I love, and continue sharing it with you all.

Announcing a new WIP!!!

Crona Gorgon!

I’m absolutely delighted to share this project with you guys. I’m taking a new sewing class called draping, which is basically pattern-making with a dress-form mannequin. So far I’m having a lot of fun and really enjoying myself! Obviously I’m taking some liberties with his character design, but if you’re new here… I do that a lot. But every detail is made with care!

I’ll continue to add to this thread as I continue the process. I also plan to craft Ragnarok to go with the costume!

Progress update!

Draft one is on the left and draft two is on the right. I’m quite happily moving onto my final draft! Some of the princess lines in the skirt are straightening out because i found that the extreme curves in the garment made it look excessively feminine, which I’m trying to avoid. I’m definitely trying to honor Crona’s gender nonconformity!

After draft three I might be ready to move from muslin into my final fabric! I’m planning to make the collar piece and the mermaid skirt piecing as add-on items, so those pieces will be finished on this mock up during the summer! Will update soon!

Updates on Charlotte! Her headpiece is coming along quite nicely. It’s constructed with Eva Foam and Warbla. I’m planning to add more spikes, paint it a lovely yellow, then add some gold leaf! I’m loving how my eye prosthetic turned out too! I used scar wax to create it. I’ll be releasing a video as soon as I test it out so you can see how it was made! Next up is the wig and the flesh prop 👹

Part of the trans struggle is having a hard time picturing when you’ll ever feel okay in your own skin. It’s times like this that I gotta remind myself that… I’ve come a long way. And that’s enough to celebrate.

Left is first time I ever cosplayed Ramuda, and right is my most recent version!

But anyways, I’m so happy with my progress! Ramuda is such an important character to me, and I love how I’ve managed to build his Cosplay over the years. I’m honestly obsessed with how my wig looks now. I bought a completely new wig and dyed it myself, and even *that* one started out as a botched cut.

I think it could still be improved with a few tweaks here and there, but I’m very excited to see how my cosplay will continue to evolve in the future!!

So funny story actually uhhh

The reason I’m wearing an eyepatch is actually because I popped a blood vessel. I was totally panicked, I had a panel that morning, how on earth was I supposed to function without being able to use contacts?? And my eye looked n a s t y...

So I came up with a solution!! I did bruise makeup around the affected eye, and then slapped some rolled up toilet paper with some medical tape to craft a makeshift eye patch. Problem solved! Nasty rat boy aesthetic achieved

The Phos photos we got this past weekend came out so pretty I’m still flabbergasted 😳@pedx-ing used a prism and it paired super nicely with the sparkles on phos’s outfit like ah!! So pretty!!! I love houseki no kuni and phos’s character dearly, this costume and location was like a dream come true 🥺
