Someone Useful

  " Woah…" Kai had a childlike wonder in her eyes for a moment," He must be a legend." a hundred for one person… That was impressive. " Me? Er, my story’s not much, I got seperated from my clanand while and decided to take up the mercenary trade."

"I’m sure he is at this point." He smiled a bit. "So you joined up with another mercenary group and became one of them, or are you just taking on the world by your lonesome?"

" Er… they were something like that." They had the men and the might to be hired in times of war, but her clan had focused on being ruthless sea raiders and pillaging foreign shores. " I’m traveling alone, I can take care of myself."

"Oh I don't doubt that. Most people who are brave enough to travel by themselves have at least some skills to back up their confidence. Actually..." He grinned a bit. "I was halfway fishing to see if the group you were a part of was in need of any more members. But, truth be told, it's probably better off that I stick it out on my own as well. It's too easy to get comfortable in mercenary bands... and too much comfort can relax a person's guard."

Slew General Boscone of the Chuda forces- with one swing of his sword, he cut the man in half, and his horse’s head clean off in the same stroke. He - he was something. Stood toe to toe against Nosferatu Zodd, too. I’m sure he’s still wandering about, slaying monsters, saving villages and the likes."

"But I’m afraid I’ve rambled enough. What then is your story?"

She nodded,” Aye, I’ve heard the name once or twice in idle tavern-talk. They sounded like quite the fearsome lot.”

"Oh they were. You should have seen them in action. The Lead Raider Gatts was particularly... Well. The details are pretty gruesome. I'm sure it's not polite conversation for mixed company. So, have you heard any rumors about why they vanished in your tavern-talk?"

He gave a more proper bow, returning her smile. "I suppose if I did have friends and family, they'd get along without me all right. After all, they have each other as much as I might choose to have them. And I could say the same for you... It IS the time of year to be spending it with family and friends, rather than out by yourself. If I can make one day brighter for somebody who needs a little cheering up, then that's where I'm needed more." He straightened from his bow and gave her a friendly wink. "New friends are the spice of life, even if they're just single-serving friends."
