*EDGERUNNERS SPOILERS AND MY OPINION*

I just finished edgerunners for the first time, and I’m not gonna lie… I didn’t really like it that much because I never liked David. And still don’t. Actually I lowkey hate David.
My main gripe with him is how childish his mindset was, but he was a teenager after all. However, he was also just dumb as fuck in general. He constantly acted like real life was some video game, after BEGGING to be put in these very vital, adult positions. And he wasn’t even trying to play “hero” like everyone claims; he was trying to play “special”.
Im not gonna sit here and say any idea of being a hero is childish cuz that’s not always the case. But to be a hero, whether in fiction or real life, the main attribute of a person has to be a desire to put others before themselves always. I legitimately can’t think of a time David did that other than if it was for Lucy, his girlfriend (who, unrelated, deserved so much better). No, David was selfish and power hungry and immature and greedy. And I don’t feel sad about his death. I saw it coming from the beginning, from the moment he kept ignoring warnings, and from the moment he thought he was more than human.
And yes, I know, Adam Smasher is an example of someone getting cybered out and surviving Cyberpsychosis, but even then he was kept as a pet by the corpos. If David had survived, I genuinely think he would’ve been more trouble to the main cast than if he were dead.
Even if I get a lot of hate for this take, that’s okay, cuz I just needed to vent. The entire show just kind of felt like a waste of my time. Gonna play the game next tho and I am excited for that!
