CUTTING ROOM FLOOR-Chapter 16: STAR WARS! NOTHING BUT STAR WARS! ROGUE ONE COMES OUT TOMORROW AND IM SINGING THIS POST AS I TYPE IT IN ALL CAPS. I LOVE STAR WARS SO MUCH AND ROGUE ONE HAS ME SO EXCITED. ALL THE GRAPHICS LOOK SO REAL AND IT ALL IS SO COMPLEX NOW AND AWESOME. ROGUE ONE IS REALLY GONNA BE COOL CAUSE ITS NEW CHARACTERS AND STORY AND NOT THE MAIN SERIES. IM GONNA GO SEE IT THAT NIGHT AND THEN AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. ALL THE TWISTS THAT COULD HAPPEN AND THE COOL CONNECTIONS TO THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY IT COULD HAVE. HOLY CRAP IM SO EXCITED. DISNEY DONT EVER RUIN THIS EVER PLEASE. AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

CUTTING ROOM FLOOR-Chapter 15: Star Trek can Still do Star Trek Well It looks like Star Trek will continue to run alongside Star Wars as a show that can continuously pump out new movies and still stay fresh and entertaining. The third installment of the new series stands on its own as a great Star Trek and action film. It keeps beloved characters beloved, it provides the same thrills and expected action, and reimagines just enough to really make it original and enjoyable. Of course this movie does suffer from two things in my opinion. One being the inclusion of Sulu being gay mainly because George Takei is gay, and not because Sulu was written to be gay. But it doesn't effect this movie too much and turns out to be a sweet touch for the film. Second is the destruction of yet another Enterprise. My God can this ship find a crew that can keep this thing in one piece for longer than three movies. GEEZ!

CUTTING ROOM FLOOR-Chapter 14: Frozen Fever It's wonderful to see well written films. Frozen may be the mainstream plague of the internet community who tend to only love the rejects of "normies" but it is so good. Disney broke so many of their typical arcs with this movie, it's amazing they weren't admitted to a hospital. With the total turn away from true love and a handsome prince, the complex chemistry of Elsa and Anna, and the deep inner battles it illustrates in both sisters. If this theory were to come to fruition then that would just add to its excellence. This is one of those movies where you want to see the sequel cause you like the universe, but you also don't because you don't want to ruin a legacy. I think we can trust the crew of Frozen with a sequel, so fingers crossed.

CUTTING ROOM FLOOR-Chapter 13:Doomed Reboots It's not a secret that Disney has a series of reboots and sequels planned for the upcoming months and years. However this film may have set a very bad tone for the ones yet to come. Jungle Book came first and it was fairly decent. It stuck to its original story loosely and was decently written. Tarzan however, really messed up. It was a confusing blend of reboot and sequel and mess. If the production team had committed to one or the other this movie could have found success. I personally believe they should have committed fully to reboot for the sake of starting a new timeline. Reboot it, stick loosely to the original story, then boom you got a starting point. How come I'm not in Hollywood yet, I'm a genius. Let it be known I still wanna see Beauty and the Beast just because Emma Watson is in it.

CUTTING ROOM FLOOR-Chapter 12:Stop the Sequels I know I've ranted on sequels before, but this movie is a golden example of how this epidemic is being perpetuated. I personally never saw this movie so that either makes me the best unbiased opinion or worst unknowledgeable opinion. In either case I do know that this movie was well received by all most all who went to see it, especially those in its target demographic. However, as this video points out, it is a victim to a disease that affects most sequels. That is that it piggy backs off the success of the original and therefore has more leeway with its writing and editing because everyone is already in love with the universe the first one created. It also struggles with burrowing to much from the original. One problem outside of the sequel issues is the amount of luck and ex machinas, that get used. It makes the whole movie seem weaker in my opinion because instead of something clever causing the plot to advance, it is just luckily moved forward.

CUTTING ROOM FLOOR-Chapter 11:Too Many Trailers So just to be clear before we get started, this video is a trailer for a trailer. Yes you heard that right. Universal spend money on making a "teaser" trailer for their upcoming movie, and all it says at the end is "trailer coming soon". Not movie, TRAILER! You are hyping me for a trailer. This just highlights my problem with trailers these days. First off let me say that I know trailers are necessary. If you want more people to see your movie then you need to let be see pieces and get excited about it and spread the word. However, releasing "teaser" trailers for trailers or just as bad, releasing a trailer more than six months before a movie, is ridiculous. When you do all this your hype will be huge about three months before the movie comes out, and then die. That's the way of the internet and entertainment industry. By you hyping your film way to early, you become old news. Release a trailer at the right time is essential. You want to have just enough time to become relevant and the hot topic, and then right when you reach that peak, your movie should hit theaters. This maximizes ticket sells and will probably aide in getting better reviews. Now if this "The Mummy" movie turns out to be a reboot of "The Mummy" we will have a whole new set of problems.

CUTTING ROOM FLOOR-Chapter 10: OMG ROGUE ONE IS ALMOST HERE!!! So this post has almost nothing to do with the amazing fan theory in the accompanying video; however, I'm about to lose my mind waiting on Rogue One. I love Star Wars, and ever since Disney began pumping out new Star Wars stuff I've been thrilled. I'm especially anxious for this new spinoff movie, because I feel that it will set the tone for the rest of their spin off movies to follow. I'm also interested to see how this movie ends. While about 40% of me believes that the characters may just die or flee into hiding, never to be seen again; another 35% of me believes that the theory in this video could actually be valid. It would be awesome if it went that way. What does the other 25% of me believe you ask. Well 20% of that is that these characters simply escape and just go about their rebel business. 5% of me says that Jane is Rey's mom and all sorts of wtf moments everywhere. Who knows... but MAN I'm excited!

CUTTING ROOM FLOOR-Chapter 9: Changing Channels The massive success of streaming services and on demand tv has changed the world in a multitude of ways. One way is by shifting the way tv series are made. Originally series only tried to tell a story in a 15-30 minute episode and then, without any continuity, continue into a new story. However, people can now watch episodes in succession whenever they please. This allows for a grander level of storytelling to be achieved. My favorite example of this is HBO's Westworld. It has played with my emotions so many times, and it is all because it is telling an ever expanding story across each episode. Without the dominance of streaming services, a show like that would never find the success it has found today. Cable companies would never want a show that required in-order storytelling because re-runs would be a pain. I love the new adventures that television has been able to take the world on in recent years. I'm sure it will only get better. Maybe interactive stories next?

CUTTING ROOM FLOOR-Chapter 8: Disney Sugarcoating Everything All right do not crucify me for criticizing a children's movie company for sugarcoating often brutal fairy tales and history, but we have an issue with how far Disney strays especially in their historical movies. Of course the subject of the scrutiny will be Disney's Pocahontas. The amount Disney gets wrong in this movie is absolutely inexcusable. Of course if you watch the video you already know the main points I will bring up but I go into little more detail than he does. First off it would be nice to get the reason the explorers came to America right. They were seeking gold they wished to conquer the land for England to spread imperialism. I get that that is a heavy subject for a little child but they need to get it right so children don't go around saying English came for gold, that was the Spanish. That's really the only thing to get into because their is a bigger point. Disney needs to use its influence to educate children on not only life lessons which they do well, but also practically. They have the greatest power to give kids a good understanding of semi accurate history, they should do it. So in the future I hope they stick to a little more factual evidence then they have previously.

CUTTING ROOM FLOOR-Chapter 7:Video Game Movies Video Games have never found success on the silver screen. This thoroughly baffles me because you can have an award winning game with tons of great material and somehow you can't put that into a decent two hour film. Warcraft is only the most recent video game movie that has flopped in American markets. A series of Mortal Kombat movies also failed, along with a Doom movie that only enjoyed brief success. I'm sure the upcoming Assassins Creed movie will also join the statistics. My advice to anyone attempting a video game based movie...HIRE THE PEOPLE WHO WORKED ON THE GAME!!!!! At least get their input. They created the award winning game you are attempting to make money off of. Please just do this for us please. We want good video game movies. Just please make them good. PLEASE!

CUTTING ROOM FLOOR-Chapter 6:Why Marvel is Outdoing DC Fore warning before we get started, the video attached to this may not seem like it applies to this post, but believe me, it does. Marvel Studios has been the powerhouse of comic book movies since Iron Man in 2008. While a lot of their success comes from good directors and entertaining story, one thing really separates Marvel from DC. That is their ability to link all the movies into one universe, whilst building upon it with each new installment, and simultaneously keeping all the science between the genres consistent. Doctor Strange, which is spending its third week at the top of the box office, seems to be a departure into magic. This would be odd for Marvel with all the science they go into to explain their characters. However, with a closer look you see how they are still anchored in their sciences. Kevin Fiege along with his team have done a great job with their franchise and have thankfully kept it from becoming a copy and paste show. Until DC learns how to do that effectively, Marvel will continue to win the Box Office.

CUTTING ROOM FLOOR-Chapter 5: Classic Anime finds Silver Screen Ghost in the Shell is perhaps the first American silver screen adaptation of an anime that has garnered its level of hype. Scarlett Johansson plays the lead role of The Major and must defend the world from cyborg hackers. What makes the adaptation of this film interesting is The Major's thermoptic suit. In the Anime this suit is a thin transparent covering that allows Major to become invisible. In an anime it is easier to get away with nudity than a Hollywood production. The costume designers had to create a costume that allowed for total covering of Johansson, yet still gave the feeling of her being basically nude. Johansson has been quote saying "it [the suit] is more comfortable than my black widow outfit". It's amazing to see both the creativity of the design team to create certain effects despite restrictions, and the technology that is available to aide them. I can tell you one thing, I'm excited!
