( lucien laviscount,  cis man,  he/him)  ⎯ griffin kane has  been  a  resident  of  roseton  for  six months .  around  the  town ,  the  thirty - five  year  old  owner of the summit  has  been  given  the  nickname,  knockout .  i  think  it's  because  they  are  protective ,  but  also  cocky .  echo  is  said  to  know  [redacted] ! [ the crunch of a mat against your bare skin, giggles during a morning hair routine + the distinctive sound a fist makes when it meets your cheek ] + [ honey ]

there  were  very  few  people  in  this  small  town  that  lake  didn't  enjoy  spending  time  with,  that  would  walk  into  roseton  revenge  and  not  earn  a  smile  from  his  lips.  interactions  were  professional,  almost  forced.  sometimes  he  wondered  if  rafi  came  here  just  to  annoy  him,  but  lake  tried  to  convince  himself  he  was  thinking  too  much  on  the  matter.  either  way,  the  bartender  sighs  heavily,  and  levels  the  other  with  a  look.  ❝  and  what'll  it  be  tonight  for  one  of  roseton's  best  first  responders  ?  ❞  was  he  being  sarcastic  ?  there  was  no  proof,  but  the  glint  in  his  eye  might  just  give  it  away.  truthfully,  lake  was  a  bit  of  a  child  about  it,  but  he  didn't  care.

the  flower  shop  had  just  been  a  job  at  first,  the  place  that  gave  her  a  chance  to  be  something  other  than  the  reckless  lex  roseton  knew  her  as.  byrony  hadn't  been  someone  she  knew  well,  just  someone  she  knew  of,  and  never  did  lex  expect  her  to  become  another  older  sibling  figure  she  looked  up  to,  loved.  she  also  did  not  expect  the  shop  to  become  her  favorite  place  in  town,  a  calling  of  sorts  that  gave  her  purpose.  it  wasn't  some  high  degree  job  like  her  father,  or  some  flashy  face  on  a  billboard  job  like  her  mother,  but  it  was  her  happiness.  and  so  when  the  redhead  walked  in  from  the  back  with  arms  full  of  greenery,  there  were  no  complaints.  ❝  we  need  a  wedding.  i'm  dying  to  do  florals  on  that  large  of  a  setting.  ❞  voices  she  as  the  greenery  is  deposited  onto  the  table  next  to  her  boss.

stepping  outside  for  a  smoke  break  wasn't  something  lake  did  without  getting  stopped  by  about  4  people  on  the  way  out  –  each  asking  if  he  were  lost.  it  was  in  good  fun,  each  was  a  regular  at  the  roseton  revenge  that  knew  he  was  in  enemy  territory  in  another  bar.  but  lake  also  felt  accomplishments  deserved  celebrating…  and  he  was  off  after  all.  none  had  asked  for  coverage  to  come  to  this,  so  he  figured  he  may  as  well  put  his  night  to  better  use  than  sitting  at  the  bar  off  duty  or  in  his  apartment.  huffing  out  a  puff  of  smoke  the  bartender  leaned  against  the  side  of  the  wall  and  sighed.  ❝  i  gotta  say,  unbias,  i  still  prefer  the  revenge.  ❞  it  was  just  far  more  his  vibe,  but  he  wasn't  upset  he'd  tried  tompson's  out.  

lake  had  weaved  through  people,  had  chatted  with  his  regulars,  and  had  tucked  himself  into  a  corner  for  a  bit  to  just  watch  the  haze  of  the  night  as  people  chatted,  laughed,  and  drank.  it  was  a  marvel  to  sit  in  a  place  that  had  been  serving  this  small  town  for  65  years…  he  couldn't  fathom  in  when  his  life  was  full  of  inconsistencies  and  instability.  ❝  what  about  you  ?  got  a  cute  first  date  story  for  this  old  establishment  ?  ❞  would  he  take  someone  here  on  a  date  ?  likely  not.  while  lake  may  not  rush  to  take  them  to  the  revenge,  he  couldn't  imagine  this  being  first  date  material.

❝  pardon  ?  ❞  the  bartender's  voice  slips  out,  accent  thick  because  he's  been  sipping  on  whiskey  all  night  and  that  tends  to  make  it  a  bit  more  prominent.  almost  like  a  sleepy  slur,  words  mushed  together  but  inflection  never  changing.  ❝  no,  they  left  a  while  ago.  ❞  had  they  asked  for  the  empty  seat  next  to  him  at  the  stool  ?  lake  had  tucked  himself  away  in  the  corner  of  thompson's  this  late  into  the  night,  wanting  to  absorb  the  buzz  of  the  night  rather  than  sit  through  another  story  of  people  he  either  didn't  know  or  who  didn't  know  him.  four  years  –  his  face  was  still  new  enough  because  he  didn't  really  socialize  outside  of  the  apartment  complex  and  roseton  revenge.

he  fiddled  with  the  menu  more  than  actually  looked  it  over.  having  lived  in  roseton  for  years  now,  and  working  at  the  revenge,  it  wasn't  really  as  if  a  bar  menu  could  surprise  lake.  he  knew  they  had  his  usual  –  and  he'd  never  admit  aloud  but  it  tasted  the  same  here.  but  it  was  something  to  toy  with,  and  when  all  of  the  town  came  out  such  as  this  the  non-local  felt  a  bit  more  of  an  outsider  than  the  flirty  bartender  who  befriended  most  easily.  it  did  help  when  he  saw  a  familiar  face  –  something  he  wondered  on  if  it  would  ever  change.  ❝  now  what's  a  regular  of  mine  doing  in  a  bar  like  this  ?  ❞  

the  night  at  thompson's  was  something  lex  was  glad  she  hadn't  skipped,  but  the  red  head  couldn't  help  but  eventually  slip  outside.  it  wasn't  that  she  didn't  enjoy  the  haze  of  the  evening,  the  chatter,  the  memories,  and  the  nostalgia  plenty  were  reminiscing  in…  lex  just  often  needed  these  small  moments  to  herself,  moments  where  the  world  quieted  a  bit,  where  she  could  bask  in  the  enjoyment  of  the  night  and  really  bake  in  what  she'd  experienced  so  far.  it  kept  her  grounded…  it  kept  her  out  of  trouble.  and  so  she  plopped  down  on  a  bench,  and  her  eyes  cast  around  to  see  others  still  spilling  out  of  the  bar  and  wandering  to  their  cars.  ❝  65  years  for  one  business,  how  many  people  in  roseton  do  you  think  had  a  date  there  at  least  once  ?  ❞

it  had  taken  some  time  to  find,  but  eventually  lex  had  snuggled  herself  into  one  of  the  far  booths,  still  near  the  haze  of  the  night,  but  tucked  away  enough  that  it  almost  seemed  peaceful.  it  was  the  booth  her  parents  had  claimed  as  their  own  before  they  had  kids  –  and  relationships  aside  she  did  enjoy  nostalgia.  snapping  a  quick  pic  and  sending  it  off,  the  red  head  glances  up  to  catch  a  gaze  trained  on  her.  now,  lex  knows  most  people  in  roseton,  but  she'd  be  lying  if  she  said  she  knew  them  all.  even  still,  a  smile  blossoms  on  her  face,  ❝  my  parents  used  to  love  this  spot,  but  claim  they  were  too  old  to  stay  out  late  tonight  so  they've  already  gone  home.  ❞  explains  she.

lex  was  a  social  butterfly,  but  she  also  would  often  take  short  stints  away  during  busy  moments  to  check  her  phone.  call  it  a  bad  habit,  but  the  girl  also  constantly  felt  the  need  to  check  the  family  group  chat.  as  unsurprising  as  it  always  was,  there  wasn't  much  going  on,  one  of  her  sisters  was  questioning  why  lex  was  even  at  thompson's,  her  dad  was  bringing  up  the  story  of  the  first  time  he  took  their  mom  here.  ❝  old  people  are  cute.  ❞  lex  voices,  glancing  to  the  bar  seat  next  to  her.  ❝  anyone  in  your  life  reminiscing  about  their  younger  thompson's  days  ?  ❞
