Heās very aro-coded throughout the whole series (whether or not he is also ace is mostly irrelevant as he is a child / young teen in a book made for children / young teens) and he still has meaningful relationships with his friends and a queerplatonic partner (not directly said but implied) yippee!
Thinking about how when I was younger, I was unaware of the concept of retconning / changing a characterās lore. So when I changed an OCās gender to balance the cast more I justā¦ made him trans.
Also thinking about how I gave a character (who was a girl) a boyfriend and then thought āhuh. This character is pretty gay actuallyā so then I made the boyfriend evil. And made her best friend become her girlfriend
Also also thinking about a character who was just a silly little guy. And then I was like āwhy should this silly little guy follow the gender binaryā and declared them to be nonbinary.
I was like nine at the time btw. For all of these. And theyāre all friends with each other (except for the boyfriend who is still evil)

The T key on my computer has been broken since I got it (second-hand from family member), and it seems to be acting up more now that I am writing a fic about a character whoās name starts with T.
It works sometimes. I just have to check every single time

Iām so glad I have all these ideas of what to write and how to write it. Especially because I have an exam in two days.

I love June because every questionable decision can be excused by either a) exam season or b) pride month

OOOOOGH I LIKE THIS ONE
So. My favourite game is Chants of Sennaar. Slight spoilers for the ending incoming. I could go on for hours about how beautiful the storytelling and symbolism and languages and world and characters and graphics are and how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE Chants of Sennaar.
Iāve played through the entire mostly non-replayable puzzle game 3 times, and Iāve only ever gotten the perfect ending because I canāt bear to leave that world unconnected.
The ending absolutely crushes me every time. Having the symbol of the connections between peoples morph into the glyph for each cultureās most treasured conceptāGod for the devotees, duty for the warriors, beauty for the bards, transformation for the alchemists, exile for the anchoritesāis just such a perfect representation of how different values can appear as rotated versions of each other, and at their root, they are all based on humanity. I find that fitting, given that the antagonist is a robot seeking to isolate the people of the tower.
It reminds me of the current day relationships with artificial intelligence (specifically LLMs. Letās not conflate ChatGPT with life-saving innovations in technology) and how it seems that people are forgetting how to connect.
Itās important today in the real world just as it is for the people of the tower in Chants of Sennaar: we have to help each other. We have to learn about each other. We have to love each other.

and when i accidently cut a vein and i am bleeding out on my bedroom floor, maybe i will feel a miraculous change and suddenly realise that i want to live, that i don't want to hurt myself or wallow in my own sorrow, and that i still want to experience so many things in life. i still want to watch movies at my local cinema and i still want to go for walks through malls with my friends, and i still want to eat at that restaurant my friend recommended, and i still want to go to prom and i still want to see my friends grow old with me.
i just want to be happy. i just want to be with my friends. i don't want life to separate us.
Maybe when that car finally hits me I'll realize that oh I actually DO care whether I live or die or whether I feel pain in the moment and I'll finally stop feeling like it wouldn't even matter in the grand scheme of things. No one would even consider it suicide because it isn't. It isn't 'willingly get hit by car' it's 'dont care if I die from it' and maybe that feeling will change.
Maybe when I finally swallow the pills, I'll realize I want to live. But maybe when I get resuscitated I'll realize I don't. We always want what we don't have. The peace of death, the joy of life, while becoming blind to the emptiness and pain that will follow no matter where we go. Either way, I'll still have that bottle of pills in the medicine cupboard and the knife hidden in my bedframe. Maybe I'll use them, maybe I won't. No matter what I do I'll regret it, but maybe it's better to die with regrets that survive with the threat of my own mind.
Maybe when Iām gone, Iāll think of what Iāve left behind. And maybe Iāll notice how much less laughter rings out from the halls and the classrooms, maybe Iāll notice how my friendsā eyes are a little weary, maybe Iāll notice how the strangers who I made smile wonder why I disappeared. Maybe by the time I realize how valued I am, it will be too late. I do everything in my power to help other people learn this very same lesson. And maybe it will never be enough.
I know it now, logically, but not emotionally. That disconnect might be my downfall. That disconnect might save me. Why canāt it be both?
