JN-1532 had been a good soldier, Â well-trained and non-hesitant to follow orders, Â but also strong enough to make up for his lack of height. Â he climbed his way through ranks and probably would eventually die in battle if he hadnât been left behind when they thought he already had. Â his wound was tended to by the natives of the planet that the First Order had raided, Â which JN-1532 couldnât pinpoint without the assistance of a map, Â and it was the first time the trooper experienced freedom. Â complete and utter freedom, Â of thought, Â of speech, Â of action. Â Â
no one came back for him, Â as his trackers had been destroyed and they deemed him dead, Â and he was finally allowed to see the whole situation from a different point of view, Â allowed to choose what he should want to do next. Â IT WAS TERRIFYING. Â joining the resistance had been the only plausible thing, Â when he finally understood the evils of the First Order but also couldnât stand being away from the action. Â after all, Â fighting was what he was programmed to do. Â Â
the captain couldnât help but be intimidated from being among the ones he once thought as the enemy and it was surprising ( to say the least ) Â when he was told that another ex-Stormtrooper was already an active part of the resistance. Â not that he would let it show, Â of course, Â keeping his chin up high and a perfect posture all the while, Â eyes hardened by all the horrors they have seen in a lifetime. Â
â  uh,  JN-1532,  itâs the only name i was given⌠ sir?  â    a frown settles between dirty features,  dust and filth sticking to his skin from days of travel.   he is unsure if titles are needed around here  ( plus,  he had been a CAPTAIN,  he surely wouldnât need to address FN-2187 that politely had old ranks mattered )  but the soldier prefers not to try his luck.  he is sure Finn can imagine why,  since the roles are now reversed.    â  âââ-  joining the resistance seemed to be the only proper alternative to doing nothing.  you must understand why i couldnât go back once i tried freedom.  â
Finn scowled at the sound of someone calling him âsirâ. The back of his head kept telling him to call the JN unit âcaptainâ instead. He stopped himself before he could say it â- their previous rankings were useless in the resistance. Both of them were now nothing but new RECRUITS to the Resistance now. â  Yeah, donât call me sir. Weâre both new lieutenants anyway. â  Finn eyed JN-1532â˛s shiny chrome uniform, â Must be weird for you to be a lieutenant again, right? â
He hoped that softened the mood somehow. (It probably wouldnât.)
â I understand perfectly. The general just wants to take PRECAUTIONS and make sure you arenât a spy or a double agent. I donât think you are. â The ex-stormtrooper knew how hard it was to leave the First Order. He doesnât think for a second that any trooper given a taste of freedom for one second would ever think of going back. â You can choose a name for yourself now. My friend called me Finn because it sounds like FN, my unit. Maybe you could do the same. âÂ
There was ONE thing he couldnât help but wonder about, though.
â What finally made you leave? âÂ
