i don’t really agree with how he died. i don’t watch the show anymore but i heard on comments that it was apparently because people were too incompetent to save him. i read a comment about how everyone else had such a heroic death (or at least bittersweet) but derek’s was just downright disrespectful granted what everyone else got and i do agree. this is mostly rephrasing that comment but the following -
george - died a hero, and he gets one last bittersweet scene with his best friend where they realize that the two of them are now going in different directions.
lexie - died hearing that mark did indeed love her, and spent her last minutes by his side, hearing the wonderful life that would have had together
mark - died impacting jackson’s life forever
( ^ and that’s just the main characters)
and even those who ultimately left the show on their own. i do not like how they wrote off izzie, but at least this desire to start anew makes sense. she had cancer, everyone at the hospital knew it, and she would never be the same in their eyes. she would always be sick. and weak. and she couldn’t have that image as a surgeon. and if her patients found out? they wouldn’t trust her either.
and cristina? i hated that she left! cristina’s a bae, but her leaving made perfect sense. she has always been career-oriented, and she would never go where she wanted to go if she stayed at at the hospital. so it was okay.
but derek? he was meredith’s husband, father of her children, love of her life, and this is how he leaves? because of some incompetent doctors? talk about bullshit. just for the record, i don’t like grey’s body count, because not everyone had to die.
george - could have just gone to the war to become a doctor
lexie - mark’s death was necessary if he wanted to leave the show as he would never leave sofia behind, but lexie could have survived. perhaps her grief over mark’s death makes her decide it’s time to move elsewhere.
the reason i don’t like this obscenely high death count is i feel the level of tragedy in grey’s has become so unrealistic i can’t even look at it without scoffing. there is such a thing as “too much”.
derek dying was necessary, imho. i don’t think he’d abandon his family via divorce. but i just don’t like how it happened.
personally, if they killed him off, i wish they did so in a manner similar to his father, because now he is a father, and that moment where he gives up his life to protect his children and do what is right, i feel like it would’ve made for such a poetic death, as he’d re-assess that deeply affective moment in his childhood where his dad died, and re-evaluate it with the eyes of someone who now understands the position in which his father stood.
there was just such a better way to handle it. i’ve lost respect for shonda rhimes; i used to think she was an excellent writer, and i think she has that potential still, but what she does is just not the same anymore. i hate scandal, and grey’s has tanked after she outright abandoned it, and... okay, well, i don’t even wanna bother with how to get away with murder.

i’m not in the asseylum hate boat here i actually think her behavior up until episode 23 makes sense and slaine was being kind of an ass in spite of his good intentions but episode 24??? what??? did i miss a memo here or something that made this all make sense
i mean i guess asseylum did ask for slaine to be saved from sadness so i suppose inaho prolonged his life to show slaine whatever would make him “happy” or idk.
i feel like asseylum did “understand” what slaine did for her but her response was so flat and subtle that you feel like she never knew? i could acknowledge the counter argument that she had no idea tho so i’ll refrain on talking too much about it (but in general i feel like az was really “subtle” and so a lot of what the series wanted to show went unnoticed)
anyway but yeah really like idk how it makes sense that people would settle for slaine being blamed for asseylum’s assassination. wtf why didn’t they just blame saazbaum tbh he was the one who did it
(though i think it would be super interesting if asseylum commented on how this must be done for the “better” of vers since it would imply changes in her since she began ruling but w/e)
and i just. EVERYTHING WAS LEFT SO UNRESOLVED? WE’RE JUST LEFT TO ASSUME EVERYONE GOT OVER THEIR PROBLEMS.
this finale needed to be divided up in like, 2-3 freaking episodes. that was abysmal. /facepalm

i mean tbh i can kind of see why she doesn’t contact him anymore since she’s an extremely high profile person it’s not easy for her to visit slaine who should be dead BUT ALL THE SAME SHE NEVER EXPLAINS THAT OR EVEN MENTIONS IT so it’s kind of hard to remember that
az relies so much on subtleties and assumptions that the viewers will be able to pick up on things that they’ve written and it’s just

i feel like slaine has gotten so used to asseylum being naïve and needing to be protected and sees her as a static possession rather than a human being (martian, w/e) and inaho sees her as an individual and i mean naturally would want to protect her but i feel like he’s less likely to see her as unable to care for herself
of course i do agree that i don’t think any ship will be acknowledged by the end. tbh if anything i’m expecting one of the three to die if not two or all three of them

gg i just caught up with aldnoah zero. the finale is too far
i have a lot of thoughts on this anime so let me just chalk them down here because twitter character limit hurts me
edit: i’m dumb and i like getting likes/notes/whatever (i mean if anyone wants to like it haha) and this post is really long so plus i wanna say this
tl;dr no one’s saying slaine didn’t love asseylum, but honestly he says he did everything for her in the very method he knew (or if he didn’t, then i think it puts out the question as to whether or not he really knew her well at all) she would never approve of. there are a lot of factors to consider, but in the end, given what she wanted and what slaine gave her, of course she would be upset with him. and i don’t blame her, personally.
but okay first off i don’t really hate asseylum. i mean granted she’s REALLY not fit to be a ruler she’s just too sheltered and idealistic to be one, but she’s what vers has right now. gotta deal, ey
and idk everyone keeps going on about how slaine did all of this for her but to be completely honest everything he did for her is exactly what she would have never, ever wanted him to do. she never wanted war and everyone knew that.
i know slaine did everything with good intentions, with her best interest in mind, and i have no doubt that he loves her and has always done so and whether or not she is worthy of his love is not what i’m trying to say (because admittedly she was never as good to him as he was to her, but you can’t say that she mistreated him; if anything it seems she was never unaware of how he suffered so she never approached him maliciously imho i mean she did point a gun at him but besides that, which +was not done maliciously)
but yeah so i mean. slaine loves her, and he did everything for her but exactly the way she never wanted and of course she would be upset with him, no matter why he did it, because honestly imho most people, even if you do something for him, if you do it in a manner they hate, they wouldn’t readily accept it. her response is normal. edelrittuo did word it well; she told him slaine looked after her so lovingly, but did add she didn’t know whether his actions are correct. that means, to keep in mind, regardless of what he did, he did for her and he loves her. but it’s not a justification for his actions. just a reminder she shouldn’t forget that because she’s so blinded by her perceived change in slaine’s attitude and everything that he’s done.
and tbh honestly asseylum probably never knew how cruhteo treated slaine. i highly doubt she would’ve kept her mouth shut. and i think that slaine’s actions and his choices thus far really prove how much he loves asseylum. he could have told her what happened, you know. told her how he was being mistreated, and asked her to help him. but he never did, and that’s probably because he didn’t want to burden her with it. his actions, too.
yeah, he really did do everything for her. i admit he did everything in a way he should know she would detest and so to be frank it shouldn’t come as a shock to him or anyone that she would respond like this (and honestly in general an all-out war? that’s horrible anyway). and i don’t know if he ever thought of it like this but the idea that he would choose to be hated by her in order to grant her the happiness that he felt she was too naive to achieve on her own is a pure love in itself. he never cared whether she loved him back. he wanted it, but it wasn’t what was most important. so really i have no doubt slaine loved her. and i think it’s really incredible.
but yeah, so tbh i think that it’s important for asseylum to realize the extent of which slaine loved her, and that everything he did was for her, and that she is wrong in judging him for his actions without understanding anything about him (basically everything edelrittuo said). she shouldn’t just look at him with scorn that he’s changed (and i mean you can’t say he hasn’t, so in a way, she is right, but she shouldn’t be so surprised for it) and he has done horrible things; she has to remember his reasons, because she is his reason. and yes, it’s true; the extent at which he loved her is not reflected in her own actions, but you also should remember that she never knew therefore she had no chance to treat him as he treated her and part of that was slaine’s choice as well.
but it’s also important to remember in a way slaine was too narrow-minded in a way; he decided this is how things would make her happy by his morals. he completely neglected the fact that this was never, ever how asseylum would have wanted things to be.
naturally he would fail to make her happy like this.
often times, reasons provide understanding, but they do not always provide justification alongside it. his actions costed lives. his reasons, in this case imho (and again this is subjective, it’s my opinion) can only help asseylum understand why he did this, how he came to decide to do this, but not make it okay. she may be able to understand how this came to be, but how could she possibly accept it, when she never wanted this and slaine knew that?
also idk her marriage to klaincain is not that weird imho it’s not out of love? honestly their development was stunted but it seemed like the show was gunning for inaho/asseylum. if anything it was a political move to have the power of an orbital knight clan? i mean granted he would’ve supported her no matter what but i guess the marriage makes it more influential or w/e. idk politics son but it’s definitely not out of love imho.
