Lovely af (âá´ââż)
I just can't stop giggling at the fact that Square Enix decided to name Cloud's mother Claudia, I had an awful and hilarious thought of Zack reactiing to this information like this: "So you're Cloud, your mother's name is Claudia, next you're gonna tell me that your father's name is Claudius." and Cloud just shrugs saying "He could be, I never knew him" and Zack just has a "stares into the camera like in The Office" moment.
Aahfhdfhdjfjf I know right? I was just happy to be on the winning side of that one. Everyoneâs almost always named Cloudâs mom either A.) Claudia or B.) [insert weather pattern of your choice, but usually some variation of Rain] Strife in fanfiction and I always sided with Claudia lol.
That being said: AU where Zack marries Cloud and Cloudâs distant relatives come out of the woodwork for the wedding. And theyâre all named similarly.
Cloud: This is my ma, Claudiaâ
Zack:
Cloud: Zack, be serious. This is important.
Zack, almost certain Cloud is fucking with him:
Cloud: And my Aunts Claudine and Claudetteâ
Zack:
Cloud: My grandpa Claudeâ
Zack:
(the list keeps going for an age and a half)
Cloud: And last but not least, my cousinâ
Zack, completely unenthusiastic at this point: Let me guess, Claudius? Or maybe Claudio.
Cloud: Zack, this is no time for games. This is my cousin, Trent.
Zack, wondering just what the hell heâs gotten into:
âlaterâ
Cloud: Did you invite yourâ uh. Wait how exactly are you and Angeal related?
Zack: Weâre not related.
Cloud:
Zack:
Cloud:
Zack: ??????
Cloud, almost certain Zack is fucking with him:
These two lmao
Country boys !~Â
I canât stop thinking about them <3

if u dont acknowledge the fanfics u read, the writer wonât think anyone is actually taking the time to read their stuff, which makes our effort feel wasted and our passions feel worthless
Honestly, this is kind of true.
It is soul crushing to pour time, energy, creativity into something and to get no feedback. And by feedback I do mean the simple thing of â I liked itâ. That is enough. That is better than nothing.
I get excited being able to post something I enjoyed writing, but then to be met with the sound of cricketsâŚ
I liked one of the comments on this post - kudos and likes are just numbers:. 100% this! While great, they are cold, and unfeeling. Iâll confess - when I first started writing, kudos were so exciting. There was a person out there somewhere, telling me they liked my story.
That buzz is gone now. Iâm older, and have writtenâŚ. A lot. Kudos and hit counts donât capture my attention all that much anymore.
But comments are life affirming.
I guess I wonder why people donât write comments. They are too busy? Donât know what to say?
Advise - write from your gut. A simple acknowledgement of having read the story or re-read the story, or wishing you could put more kudos on, just SOMETHING, will save a writerâs life.
I spoiil my readers by most of the time (I see those two incomplete chapter-count fics from years ago on my to-do list and fret) only posting once Iâve written out the story completely, to safeguard against what I dread most - start reading a fic and not know if it will ever get finished. Fair enough people doing that - life gets busy, but personally, for myself, I donât like that, and I try to not perpetuate the things I donât like.
So it doesnât matter all that much if I donât get comments, because I will post the entirity of the story, regardless of reader interaction. Doesnât mean I donât want them. Doesnât mean peoples feelings and words donât influence me. Comments invigorate me to push further, to do more edits, and sometimes even to completely change the story mid-way through.
Your passion and interest in authors creative pursuits is a huge boon to said author. Most authors want interaction. I wonât think youâre a stalker by talking to me all the time on a story you enjoy. You become a stalker when you cite stuff to me about my personal life đ So I just wanna clear that up. Being excited about a work you enjoy is not stalkerish - itâs feeding your artist/author the fuel they need to keep going.
Even with my âposting completed ficsâ I still need feedback. I still need interaction. You donât see what goes on behind the scenes. When I get stuck and deflated I seek out my circle of pre-readers, betas, and friends to check out what I wrote. Their interaction gets me through humps. If I wasnât talking to people I would take twice as long to get things done. (Iâm too stubborn to give up and not finish the story)
Your input and interaction has power to keep the engine of creativity going.
I donât want to pressure people into leaving comments when they donât want to and canât, but if you ever find yourself in a position to do so, please do, to save an authorâs self-esteem and creativity. To save a story that might otherwise go dead.
Honestly doesnât take much. Anything is better than the sound of silence
