As the disc spun on the turntable, the melodies of ‘Last Friday Night’’ bounced off the floral patterned walls, anchoring a lively essence into the environment. Dior and Leah danced to the upbeat music, wildly twirling each other, spreading pure bliss towards the others who stifled their laughs at the girls’ antics. You lay on your stomach, peaking over the magazine you held in your hands to look at the others. Turning the page, a spark lit up in your eyes as you saw a drag queen who sported a piece of clothing that looked extremely similar to one you kept in your closet.
You slowly turned your head towards a certain curly haired blonde, whose eyes crinkled as he smiled brightly while having a conversation with Aryan, who sat next to him on a pink bean bag. You couldn’t help but think how pretty he was in the moment, not only that, but how pretty he would look in bold makeup. A swarm of fantasies buzzed in your head, the thought of his sharp features decorated with exaggerated makeup made you giggle, but also sent a butterfly to your stomach at the thought of being able to see him all dolled up. Suddenly, an idea crept in your head, a smirk displayed on your face. You slowly got up from your bed, telling your friends you'd be stopping by a store to pick up snacks. They nodded, listing off snacks they wanted you to bring back as you left the room with the roll of the eyes.
You took a walk to the store not far from your house, enjoying the breeze and swaying trees. Would Walker agree to your idea? Didn’t matter, he didn’t have a choice, he would be your new work of art. You immediately went to the makeup section picking out a foundation you believed would match his skin tone, and a few more makeup products. Then you went to the snack aisle to pick some things up so your friends wouldn't complain about the lack of their requested items.
When you made it back, you kicked off your shoes and sprinted to your room excitedly. The group cheered when you arrived with snacks. You snuck next to Walker, crossing your legs, with a mischievous grin. He directed his body towards you, squinting his eyes. Your face warmed at the closeness of your bodies.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”he curiously glanced at you, the corner of his lips turning up when he saw your cute smile.
“Oh…nothing.” you replied, side eying him in a knowing look.
Charlie watched across the room, furrowing his eyebrows at the interaction before nudging Aryan to make sure he wasn’t imagining things. Was the Walker Scobell staring at you with a dazed dreamy look in his eyes? To the two of you, it was just a normal conversation, but from the outside point of view, it looked like two lovestruck teenagers, bashfully looking at each other, trying to act as if you guys weren't crushing on one another.
“Soo, I was thinking—”
“I’m not trying to do the splits again, that's gonna stay a one time thing.”he interjected, concerned for his safety.
“What! No, this won't involve you splitting your pants, I promise, I still remember your face when we heard them tear.” you laughed, remembering ‘the incident’.
“Fine. What is it then?”
“Right, I was gonna ask if you’d let me put you into drag. I'll do it with you! I just think you'd look really good in it.” you nervously replied, hoping he’d agree.
He was taken aback by the question, eyebrows lifting in surprise. He’d expected anything but that. He took a second to think as you patiently waited for the answer. He guessed he wasn't opposed to the idea. “Okay, I don't see why not?”
Your eyes lit up as you hastily sat up, sprinting to your huge closet, adorned with a sparkly door frame. You sifted through your clothing, picking out pieces you think would look good on his figure. He clapped his hands together, making his way behind you.”So what look are we going for?”
You spun around, hiding the clothing behind your back. “You’ll see.”
You stood, staring into his blue eyes, lining them with a thick black curve, exaggerating his evidently beautiful eyes. He sat on the edge of your bed, staring at your lips which already were stained with a pinkish tint. There was a distinct glint in his eyes that spoke to the smitten heart of yours, granting you with the gift of security. You were never in doubt around him that anything bad could take place. In the case that it would, his presence would soothe any worries that crowded your mind. That is what had drawn you to Walker in the first place. Your heart pounded, aching with longing for his arms to wrap around your waist, for him to hold you.
Walker’s dazzling smile brightened the room, at least to you. To the others in the room, it remained in the dim light, as they played a game of uno, joking around about who was cheating. You lifted his chin up gently, dragging the deep maroon color against his smooth, overlined lips. You felt his breath graze against your skin, as he looked up at you with puppy dog eyes. The false lashes, brushing his cheeks as he blinked. You weren't the only one longing, he yearned too, always wanting you beside him, more so than you had been and of course being seen in a different light.
“You almost done?” he questioned, you let out a laugh, taking a step back to admire your work. A beauty mark sat right under his eye and he looked as if he could be seen walking down a runway. You smiled at him, causing his cheeks to redden though it wasn’t visible due to the makeup caked over his skin. He looked gorgeous, sitting there waiting for your reply.
You shook your head out of the daze remembering he asked a question. “Yeah, I just need to add the wig and the outfit.”
Thankfully you had wigs due to your love for trying different and new looks, so you went to go find the perfect one for him. You had been in your makeup as well as you agreed to do it with him but you already had a colorful wig adorning your head.
You spent a while adjusting the wig, which was a lot easier to do on him than yourself, before you sent him off to put the outfit on. When he came out, the group cheered, hyping him up as he twirled sassily. Whistling and complimenting the makeup. You too, got in your outfit and then came the pictures. The two of you posed together taking picture after picture, Britney Spears vinyl now playing. The group spent a good hour or more doing karaoke, causing a ruckus for your poor neighbors to deal with.
As Dior forced Walker into posing like he was a part of a magazine, which he reluctantly agreed to, you watched from across the room. He turned towards you giving you a small smile, you returned it and went back to your conversation with Aryan. Yet again, the actions were noticed by the two other boys in the room as they gave each other a glance. They figured the two of you would find out about each other's feelings quite soon.
Time passed and Walker was just about ready to rip the wig off his head, so you two went to the bathroom to take off the makeup. His hair was let loose, tousled now but he somehow managed to still look good. He leant against the sink counter, watching you, as you wiped away your eye shadow first. Out of the corner of your eye you could see him staring, and so to fill the silence you blurted out the first thing that came to your mind. “You know, you actually look really pretty, even without the wig.”
He tilted his head and cockily said, “Oh yeah? I do feel quite dazzling. Tell me more.”
You anxiously looked down before continuing, “and the maroon color looks really good on your…lips, but I think the lighter pink I'm wearing would also suit you.”
He suddenly noticed the way your hands fidgeted, and how your shoulder sank in but there was nothing but sincereness in your voice and there was a genuine sparkle in your eyes. He became bold and spoke without thinking.“You think? Maybe after, you could help wipe mine off…I could even try yours on.”
Your eyes widened at the insinuation. You glanced up at his eyes but they were already drawn to your lips. In one sudden movement his lips were on yours, soft yet what felt like an eternity of hidden feelings beneath it. His hands slip down your sides, stopping at your waist, yours holding his cheeks. When you pulled away, his lips were painted with a mix of colors, the corners slightly smudged, yet there in front of you he never looked more perfect.
“We should probably finish wiping this off.” You spoke, he nodded and you guys started getting ready for bed. Though no words were spoken after that, there was a lingering agreement between the two of you that this would be talked about later with further delving into your feelings.

Introduction 1 2
wordcount: 1.7k
Theodore Nott was the only other person who frequently went to the piano room. He couldn’t help it, it was a soothing place to be and had a great echo that could repeat even the slightest of noises. A whispered conversation could be heard, a spider's legs could be detected creeping and crawling, but more importantly it sent the sounds of his violin right back to his ears.
Every other day he did his daily practice, one his father required him to do. In actuality, there was no way his father could possibly know if he had not been practicing, he felt the sense that he could though. Once, he attempted to avoid practice for a whole week only to receive an owl from his father, demanding him to continue practicing. He sometimes wondered if someone inside the castle was secretly updating his father on his progress.
Theodore however, was glad his father wasn't around to berate him while he practiced during school. His father was a choleric man, one was unable to make a single mistake in the presence of the martinet. He’d go ballistic when hearing anything less than perfect which seemed to be impossible, as he was hard to please.
Theodore always ensured he was unaccompanied when participating in musical arts. Which is why he had never formally met Blaise, he knew of the pianist. Blaise wasn't out spoken, he didn’t have to be. His eyes did it for him. They didn’t say much about him, but it boldly informed everyone that he couldn’t care less about their foolish antics, he was a man of self preservation.
Theodore never understood Blaise’s point of view of the world, the only thing he could grasp was the love for music. Theodore truly played like there was no tomorrow, like if he stopped then, he’d never get a chance to play again, he'd never forgive himself if he’d quit. He believed his hell would be the inability to play the violin. In fact, in his third year, he discovered his boggart was his instrument split into microscopic pieces, unrepairable. Though he played for practice every other day, that didn’t stop him from playing whatever he wanted outside of that.
Theodore spent day and night crafting playful tunes. Performing grandiose solos for his cat, Leone, in the empty slytherin common room. The genre of jazz captured his heart, improvising magnificent pieces was his life's goal. His family had other plans, Theodore already having been the soloist in multiple concertos of classical music due to his family power and name in the musicians world.
He however didn’t have much concern for how well he played. He knew he could be a star if he wanted to, no matter what he played, he only cared to learn the art of playing without a guide. He didn’t need a map to show him where to go, he wanted to find his way on his own. He discovered that he never quite felt satiated with the pure classical.
Now, he sat amongst his friends at the slytherin table in the great hall. Though he was a part of the slytherin group, he had remained a shadow. He was a less prominently known character of the many personalities. Mattheo and Draco immensely outshined him, though he still held his own popularity, more than a few girls desired him. What was there not to want about a talented man, who was passionate about something? You might argue that Blaise was the exact same, though those girls would mention his slight superiority complex.
He considered them his good friends, however when it came down to the truth, they'd hardly known the violinist that well. In fact, they couldn’t particularly name much that they knew about him, they barely even knew of his family situation. They had been gossipmongers since he had known them, always on about the new rumors of the week.
Theodore got up, bidding his friends goodbye, following his usual plan of heading back to his dorm to collect his violin before heading to the piano room. As he made his way through the corridor he heard a frustrated grunt along with a suspenseful violin muffled through the walls. He inched towards the open door, feet directed by the music he heard. Pearing through it he saw a girl perfecting her foutté turn, spinning with one leg on the ground, arms held against and away from her body. She seemed frustrated. As the melodramatic music continued, her foot went off balance and her agitation was only heightened.
“Shit.” she muttered under her breath, yet another failed attempt. She trudged towards the boombox playing the music, to restart the song. Hitting the replay button, she got into position, starting her routine from the beginning. As she exquisitely balanced on the tip of her pointe shoes, Theodore took note of her ardor for the arts. He memorized the way she landed from a leap like a feather falling into a puddle.
He was mesmerized by her grace and beauty, he leant against the doorframe, head resting against it in a daze. His eyes followed her.
Suddenly, his surroundings were green and alive, he felt as if he had been given a new life. It was like his sentience was taken away by the draining existence of everyday life, but was gifted back to him by the figure in front of him. She was amazing at dancing, seemingly a paradigm of passion. Her art being deeply rooted in the emotions concealed beneath the music notes. His mind was sent to an idyllic haven.
When the song ended his gaze still held for a minute before he came back to reality. As he processed what he witnessed, he realized how long it had been since he truly stopped and appreciated something. He found a sudden urge to play his violin, which was hardly unusual, except this time instead of walking through the halls to get to his instrument, he ran.
He practiced for hours, following his fathers orders. When he finished, he always started his own work of improv. His feet planted, ready to take the impact of his mind and body releasing strings of emotions that would weave and knot to form a piece of his heart and more importantly, music. Closing his eyes, he took a deep breath, and reached into his memory to find the girl dancing. There was a pause and then he began. He remembered her every movement and created what he believed to have been one of his best pieces.
The notes had never come so easily to him, he knew he had to meet her. He walked back to his dorm to get a good night's rest and hollow out his thoughts in a letter that would never be received.
The next morning, Theodore hardly cared for Pansy’s despondent mood after being dumped by her girlfriend. At that moment, only engrossed in the gregarious girl across the room who enthusiastically chatted with her two friends.
He didn’t know what he was feeling. A crush? No, he didn’t fall that quickly. He knew what it was like to think a girl was cute and want to be with her, this was different. Understanding? Yes, that was it, for as long as he could remember he’d never really seen many people who cared for performing arts the way he did. Whenever he brought it up people seemed to be paying attention, but not interested.
“One moment.” He excused himself from the slytherin table, his friends brushed off his words as they were too deep into Lorenzo’s story of what happened the night before.
He made his way to the end of the Great Hall where the girl sat. Her friends Luna Lovegood and Oliver Wood noticed him approaching first, whispering in her ear. It was quite an odd group, no one would quite expect the three to be friends but when getting a closer look at the dynamics it made sense.
Luna, often regarded as Loony Lovegood, was an eccentric girl who talked about things no one understood, causing others to stray from the girl. Oliver, the gryffindor Quidditch captain, was liked by many; however it could become quite overbearing to others when he seemed to only want to eat, breathe, and sleep Quidditch. Lastly, the girl, not many knew of her other than being a part of the group, but to the few she did try to talk to, found it quite hard to care about the subject of dancing that she always mentioned. The three who just couldn’t seem to talk about anything other than what they cared for, found each other. They spent all day listening and conversing.
Theodore didn't quite know what he would say but he decided it didn’t matter. When he finally got to her, she turned in his direction with pleasant surprise, many did not care to look her way..
“Hi, was there something you needed?” She asked kindly, still unsure on what he might want.
“No, I just…I saw you dancing to some music last night while passing by. It's the kinda type that I make, just thought maybe you’d like to hear something of mine. I'm Theodore Nott, by the way, ” Merlin if he didn’t know if he could get any more awkward then he already had.
Thankfully, at the mention of music, a grin sprawled across her face. “Nott, as in the family made of talented violinists? Yes, I'd love to hear your music.” She gestured for him to sit down, excited to have someone new to talk to about music and dancing. Both of which she considered herself an expert on. He sat across.
As the girl ranted about different genres of music, Theodore nodded along, completely taken aback by her knowledge. He made a few comments, not many, but they were all meaningful and spiraled her deeper into the topic.
Class was soon to start, students sneaking snacks into their bags, catching up with each other. The girl’s friends had already left and now she had begun to get up as well. Theodore copied her actions, when he looked up from his seat, she was gone. Dammit. He’d still hadn’t gotten her name, better yet learnt much about her either. They only had about a good 15 minutes of conversing.
a/n: idk why but i hate this chapter so yeah but hopefully it does somewhat well. sorry that things are moving so slowly and quickly at the same time
It was late when Theo knocked on your dorm door, so deep into the evening that you were already pajama-clad with a toothbrush hanging between your lips.
You opened the door, mouth full of toothpaste and all. Your boyfriend grinned lazily, the fatigue in his eyes slowly slipping away.
"Cara mia," toned arms wrapped around your midsection before Theo kissed your cheek, narrowly escaping the frothy white gel leaking onto your chin.
"How washh stdyin?" Your voice was muffled, almost incomprehensible. A dark brow quirked up at you. "Shorry, I'll brush my teef nw."
He gave you the okay, head immediately finding your pillows. Returning to the bathroom with a smile on your face, you giggled into the brush bristles when you heard Theo snore from your bed.
Even star-fished across your bed, expression screwed up in sleep, he was devilishly handsome. Almost out of your league. His body, corded with lean muscle, was made for the Mediterranean coast, his skin meant to be blanketed in golden sun—not the dreary gray skies of Scotland. Infuriatingly, he was also always rosy-cheeked and oh so perfect.
"Theo," you murmured. Blue eyes still shielded from the lamp light in your room, he opened his arm, beckoning you to crawl in. Of course, you obliged, grabbing your Xylomancy essay off the foot of your bed.
He nuzzled his dirty blonde locks into your stomach, bicep curling around your waist like a heavy chain. You raked nails up and down his forearm, focusing on reading and then rereading your essay for the umpteenth time, an attempt at preventing yourself from falling into disastrous boredom.
It didn't work.
Groaning, you dropped the countless papers onto the floor, opting to fiddle with your red glitter pen, something you only wrote with to piss Trelawney off. She said your pen had bad juju during a fit of 'looking beyond the veil'—whatever that meant.
You gaze slowly dropped to your fingers still trailing across olive skin and then back to the pen grasped tightly in your other hand. You probably had that look on your face—the one that Theo said only promised something he wouldn't be happy with.
Smiling coyly even thought no one could see you, you gave into the thought moving slowly through your head anyway.
At first, it was just one little peace sign placed just below the rolled cuff of his fitted black button-up. Then a few bows scattered around, hearts here and there, and a few flowers sprouting from the thin silver bracelet banded around his wrist with your initial dangling from it.
Post drawing-frenzy, half of his right arm was more red sparkle than skin. As you glanced at your artistry, a giggle bubbled in your throat. Of course, that, not the drawing, woke him up. Your laugh.
"Something's amusing?" His voice was drugged with sleep, deep and smooth.
"No." You bit your lip. Theo squinted like he had awoke looking directly into the light. His scrutinizing stare traveled downwards until it caught the sparkle.
"You decorated me." His tone was plain.
"I Picasso'd you."
"Bows and hearts are Picasso?"
"…and peace signs and flowers."
He held up his wrist, looking closer at the little pictures crawling all over him. "I'm red. Glittery, too."
"You're even cuter now."
An unsuppressed grin was what you got in return.
You knew Theo, and it was no shock to you that the next day, he strolled into the Great Hall, sleeves rolled up, his semi-permanent tattoos on full display.

chapter 1 summary: blaise and reader meet, blaise finds a new interest in the girl
warnings: none other than theo isn’t introduced yet so hes not in this chap, i kinda hate and love this
introduction 1
word count: 1.5k
Blaise’s fingers grazed the keys, in his own world. His eyes were closed, deep in the music and he believed if he tried hard enough maybe one day he'd see the notes he played rather than just hearing them. It was a wish of his, something he yearned to experience.
He was frequently found alone, he didn’t have time for others nor did they deserve his presence. He was mostly seen playing his piano which was technically the school's but seeing as he was the only one who played it, it was considered to be in his possession, that possibly being because no one dared to attempt to compare themselves to his creations. As far as anyone knew in the school he was a child prodigy though that sometimes was overlooked by his mothers actions.
Blaise hadn’t had many friends, at least people he considered friends, which he hardly cared for. He often thought others were rather inconsequential. He didn’t value what others were involved with and he viewed them to be lacking in intellect. He didn’t need communication when he had music. His talent would take him anywhere he needed to be in life.
As he continued to play, footsteps were heard, they were light and airy, unlike what he was used to. He didn’t bother to lift his head up to see who it was as he assumed someone was just passing through the hall.
“The music you play is lovely.” A sweet and soft voice echoed through the room.
Blaise was caught off guard by the voice, but didn’t waver in playing. “I know.”
“I’ve never heard it before. Where is it from?” the voice continued, this time a bit closer. Blaise had become curious now, in the 7 years he's played in this school, surprisingly no one bothered to ask what he was playing. He gathered that not many appreciated anything classical or jazz filled anymore.
“It’s my own piece.” He stopped playing, glancing up at the unknown person to see a girl in pointe shoes. So she is a dancer? She held a bag that he could only assume held her normal attire and more. Her stance was poised and it looked like it was her natural state. She looks like she’d be ready to dance at any moment.
“Thats wonderful. If you don't mind, I’d love to dance to one of your pieces.”
His eyes widened slightly, he’s never been asked if someone could dance to his work. Despite him being quite popular with the ladies due to his looks, that was truly as far as anyone got to know him. He had heard whispers about how he secludes himself to be with just his piano. How they couldn’t understand why he ‘wasted all his time playing the stupid thing anyways’. Many believed he only played to show off his abilities, how he was better than everyone else. Blaise didn’t care, they just didn’t know what it was to find love in something.
He pursed his lips, thinking of anyway it might annoy him if she danced. He concluded he didn’t mind, as long as she wasn’t rambling on to him about nonsense. He nodded, allowing her to proceed. He began caressing the keys again playing one of his newest pieces. Suddenly a thundering, aggressive rhythm bounced off the stone walls of the empty room, creating a melody that harbored great anger. Almost as if the piece held resentment towards its creator for bringing it into this world. It was spiky, rough, and fast paced. It felt as if the keys were fighting to not be played.
The girl stood in shock, not expecting such a ballistic sound to come from the piano. It sounded as if the music was painful to play, like thorns sprouted from the keys and pierced Blaise’s fingers, yet he prevailed. She delicately placed the bag down, and stepped away from it. Without a single thought, her body moved on its own, she was becoming the music rather than dancing to it. Her movements matched every change in the melody, her dance and the music balancing one another as a harmonious combination.
Blaise looked up, curious to see what the girl would do. When viewing her, his mind and heart stopped for a beat. He watched her fluidly spin, and as his mind wandered, so did his music. Instead of harboring the same resentment, there was an ounce of hesitation, it was questioning whether being brought to life was as despicable as it thought.
Blaise’s lips twitched into an invisible smile, the atmosphere shifted. Something in him clicked and that's when he realized his wish had come true. There in front of him, he saw his music, he saw every note he played, every emotion he conveyed, she embodied his melodies and embraced it. She was his music. He felt a sudden adoration for the girl in pointe shoes.
Now, it wasn't that easy to capture Blaise’s heart, although he did instantly hold respect for her which was something unheard of to anyone including Blaise. He hadn’t compiled anything from this, other than he knew he had to see her dance to more of his music. He had to keep her to himself, no one had understood his music like she did.
For him time stopped, he gazed at the curves of her nose, her hair that followed wherever she went, the way her body bent and maneuvered with each move. The colors of her clothing blurred, waves of reds and blues lingered in the air. A tsunami of satisfaction hit him. He questioned if he was dreaming.
When he finished the song, a silence overcame the room. For a second he processed where he was. He was in a quiet corner of Hogwarts in a giant empty room which only had his beloved piano, a few tables against the walls that held up vases with flowers, and the two of them. He never really experienced the silence of his seclusion. He had always been playing something, blocking it out.
The girl caught her breath as the two made eye contact. She stood awkwardly, not sure if he was going to say something or if she should. “Are you going to continue to play, was I too much of a distraction?”
He’d never been awkward with girls, mostly because he never cared, but now he was nearly speechless. The only thing crossing his mind was to introduce himself. “I'm Blaise.”
There was a soft pause before she let out a chuckle, “I know who you are, everyone knows you're a child prodigy.” She then introduced herself.
Blaise’s breath hitched, he’d never felt so clueless in his life. He always knew what to say, what to do, what he wanted to do, and how he was going to do it, yet here he was almost fumbling over his words. “How long have you been dancing for?”
“Ive been doing ballet since I was four. What about you?” She replied simply, as if it was all she'd ever known.
“I was four too,” There was a pause before he continued, “how do you dance like that?”
Her eyes widened at the sudden question but also because this is the most she'd heard him talk to anyone. Truth be told, it probably was. “What do you mean?”
“It just felt like you really understood it, like you personified my music.” At the moment, Blaise had lost control of his mouth, he definitely had to erase this moment from his mind.
“Well, that’s just what dancing is, isn't it?” She replied though she took the compliment to heart, mentally noting this moment and keeping it locked safe in her mind. He nodded, his fingers lining the edge of the piano. His mouth opened as if he were going to say something else, but she got to it before him.“I should be going now, it’s almost curfew.” She picked up her belongings, heading towards the exit.
“Wait,” Blaise called out, she stopped abruptly and turned around, "I'd like if you’d come more often… to dance, if that's okay with you.”
A grin slowly made its way on her face, for once someone liked her company and it being Blaise, a man known to hate company, settled something in her. “I’d love to…Goodbye Blaise.” She waved, walking out the doors.
Blaise came back into reality, glancing down at his piano. For once he didn’t wanna play, at least not without her. Nothing could compare to what he felt while playing for her at that moment.
Around an hour later, Blaise finished his playing, creeping through the halls to stay hidden from Filch as he made his way back to his dorm. He stepped into the room, letting out a sigh of relief, he had been exhausted. Maybe from the endless playing but more likely from his racing thoughts. He wanted more time spent with the girl. He'd been thinking if he saw her before but nothing came to mind.

Pianist!Blaise x Ballerina/Dancer!Reader x Violinist!Theodore
pairing: blaise zabini x reader, theodore nott x reader
The rivalry had developed over jealousy and the desperate need to outshine the other. Not only in performance, but romantically with the exceptional dancer. They were captivated by the physical art she produced. Her shadows painted the stone walls of the castle as her movements brushed the atmosphere with a soft sway, and yet a meticulous point.
They felt a drive to be the one guiding her through her process of making that art, to play for her as she elegantly floated. They admired how her body was her instrument and how she had achieved the full understanding of what it meant to play it.
Blaise was a pianist and every bit of his soul believed he was destined to be one across all endings, across all possible outcomes. Whether he was a failed musician, receiving not a single applaud for any of his recitals or a loved star amongst others. He knew he’d be the one to play the piano.
He was gifted, naturally talented. It came to him easily as if in his past life, he had spent his whole being learning to be one with the instrument, as if there was no point in moving on if he hadn’t mastered it. He understood it better than he understood himself and he prided himself on how well he could play. He truly believed it was impossible to be better than him at loving and being a pianist and to some degree he was correct. Music was his reason, his purpose, his mission in life.
Theodore on the other hand was a violinist at heart. It was in his blood from the second he was born. There was a long line of violinists in the Nott family all of which were known to be the greats. Though Theodore was just as phenomenal as the rest of his ancestors, he had a somewhat unique approach to the violin. He believed that an original sound was needed in order to make something beautiful. Everything he played in his own time couldn’t be more different than the last.
Unlike Blaise he was forced to work until drained of energy, he learned to be great through time. Hours upon hours of gliding the bow across the string. Hours of being yelled at to repeat until perfection, until his arm ached and he got a headache at just the thought of playing another song. Once alone though, he gained all vitality back from playing something new. He longed for anything out of the ordinary. That is what set him apart from his relatives, and that is what will continue to set him apart from his offspring and descendants.

In one of the quiet corners of the Slytherin common room resided a grand piano. It was an area at Hogwarts that Blaise was particularly fond of; he'd been playing the piano since he was around eight years old, and it was quite nice to be able to continue practicing away from home. Unfortunately, you had grown a liking to that piano as well. Although, it wasn't specifically the instrument or the spot that you liked, but rather the boy who was always there, hunched over the ivory keys.
You couldn't have made it any more obvious that you fancied Blaise, he'd wager that at least half of the student body already knew. You were insufferable, too much of an open book and yet ridiculously hard to read, like a foreign note or Franz Liszt's compositions — deliberately difficult. Blaise never quite understood you, not in the way he could understand sheet music.
If he had one lead guiding him in the mystery that is you, it'd be your routine. It was something he had kept in mind a while back when he noted how strangely consistent you were.
On Saturday afternoons, you would make your way to the cushioned stool placed behind the piano ─ it wasn't always there, but nobody dared to touch it now, let alone move it. That was your spot. Then, you would prop your arms up on the closed fallboard and settle your head in them, cheek squished against your forearm as you talked Blaise's ear off about everything and nothing. Other days, you simply hummed along to whatever melody he had improvised, but most of the time, your absurd questions and hypothetical musings served as lyrics to the piano's tune.
Today was the latter.
"Let's say that we're married," you paused in thought. That was usually the start of most, if not all, of your imaginary situations. "And you come home one night from one of your concerts where you performed a piece for your fans."
Blaise hummed absentmindedly, hands and eyes still glued to the grand piano. He could picture that; becoming famous for his own original compositions certainly wasn't a bad pursuit. Not that he played for anyone but himself, however the prospect of being admired and appreciated for his musical talents did appeal to him.
"And I walk over to greet you warmly like the wonderful spouse I am ─ but then, I spot a red lipstick stain on your collar, and I would say," You slammed your fist against the fallboard, sitting up straight as you narrowed your eyes at Blaise whose hands flew up from the keyboard, brows raised and bemused at the sudden outburst. "─ Who were you with!?"
...First of all, what?
It took Blaise a few seconds to even start to process what you meant, and another few to wonder if you've gone mad. He blinked and frowned, "Are you insinuating that I'd commit infidelity?" The audacity on you to accuse him of such crude actions, he'd never stoop so low.
"Well, would you?" You shot back sharply.
Blaise huffed, returning to where he had left off on the piano before you had so rudely interrupted his focus. Yet, he couldn't resist making a retort. "If I were to cheat, I would at the very least have the decency to clean my collar, or change shirts."
You gasped, standing up so abruptly that your stool nearly toppled over, with your hands on the cover of the piano as you leaned forward. "So you're saying you would cheat on me!"
"I never said that."
Blaise glanced up to see the corner of your lips twitch into a sneer, or a pout ─ he can't quite decide which one suits you better. You scoffed, but your glare softened as you begrudgingly backed down. "Whatever." You muttered bitterly, as if to say that you were done with this conversation, but Blaise knew it was truly because you had no argument left.
You always picked fights with him ─ ones you rarely ever finished, he'd like to add. Then, you would sulk or grumble about it for maybe a minute or two before some other topic stole your attention and you were rambling on to Blaise again. It reminded him of Rubato in sheet music; it was a technique that Chopin and Beethoven implemented into their works quite frequently, and something Blaise used to struggle to get right. But unlike with you, he's got it down pat now ─ he could probably play Rubato on the piano whilst wearing a blindfold. But you were nothing like an instrument, nothing like what Blaise could practice over and over 'til he got it right.
He lets his gaze linger on your face.
Blaise could recall the first time you spoke to him. You strode into the Slytherin common room with a fixed motivation, a stubborn determination in your steps as you dragged a stool to the grand piano. The specifics of when it was are irrelevant, but Blaise can easily conclude that it was likely around first or second year as he could remember the boyish roundness of your face quite vividly, and the eagerness laden in your high-pitched, child-like voice when you said, "Hi, you play the piano really well—my cousin's mother's friend plays piano too! We have something in common, d'you fancy getting married?" or something like that... Alright, maybe he's exaggerating, but really, that's what you sounded like to him!
It was simply history after that. You came by every Saturday without fail, and Blaise hasn't got the faintest idea of how you hadn't grown tired of his snide remarks yet. Your perseverance impressed him more than he'd like to admit, and quite frankly ─
"Blaise!"
Your voice cut through his thoughts like the blare of an air horn. You were standing upright now, and judging from the way you crossed your arms with an exasperated sigh as you impatiently tapped your foot, you had already called his name a couple times when he'd zoned out.
Blaise tilted his head, brows knitting together as his hands slowed to a halt on the piano keys. Silence now filled the atmosphere of the Slytherin common room, and when he opened his mouth to ask where you were going, you had already cut him off.
"I said I'm off to bed." You clarified, tone sharp with mild annoyance.
Already?
"Uh ─ why?" He fumbled rather unintelligently.
You made a face that Blaise could only assume meant 'are you seriously asking me that right now?' and he felt as though he shrunk under your gaze. He would never tell you, but you could be incredibly crabby and intimidating at times.
"Blaise, it's late ─ almost past curfew, actually." You gestured to the clock above the fireplace, ticking away into the hours of the night. Only now did Blaise notice how empty the common room was; everyone had already gone to bed. He also failed to notice how dark the view of the Black Lake had gotten, the windows were painted a nice pitch black.
"Honestly." You rolled your eyes. "It's seems like all you musicians lose track of time when you practice."
He didn't know you knew other musicians — well, maybe aside from Nott, but as far as Blaise knew, you didn't hang out with other instrumentalists.
He watched you turn on your heel to walk back to your dormitory, and just as you were a couple feet away, you looked back at the pianist from over your shoulder. You gave him a rare smile — a genuine one, the kind that made the corner of your eyes wrinkle in the same way it did whenever you were simply admiring him during class. "Goodnight, Blaise. Don't stay up."
And you stalked off, leaving Blaise to sit there staring at the spot you once occupied. He quickly shook off the bewilderment that had clung to him, fixing his composure. Blaise scoffed and rose from his seat, he trudged up the stairs to his own dorm. Who were you to tell him what to do?
This might suck, but it's been in my drafts for a while.
“All I'm saying is Sally’s mother needs to let her kid explore her imagination m—” Draco spoke before being cut off by a rampant child yanking aggressively at his head. Lorenzo stifled a laugh at the scene in front of him.
“Draco!!” the kid attacking him yelled, giggling as the boy desperately tried to push her off without hurting her.
“Yes. Yes. I hear and see you Needy. Now, can you please let go.” Draco spoke in a distressed manner, closing his eyes as a way to stay calm and reminding himself that he chose this job. He was almost met with peace when another kid sprung themselves at him, attempting to yank at him too.
“Alright kids that's enough,” you sternly said, picking Daniel off of Draco. “Remember Needy what we talked about? When someone says to please let go, you listen. Can you say sorry? ” you reminded the little girl, though you were only referring to Draco when using “someone” as this was a common occurrence with him.
The girl sighed before muttering an apology and hugging Draco as a way to make amends. Lorenzo frowned, he heavily enjoyed watching Draco suffer.
2. Ice cream
Mattheo was wiping down the tables and seats of a mysterious sticky substance when Amara, one of the older kids at the daycare, came up, holding her hands behind her back. She rocked side to side, and tapped his leg, casting his attention. Giving the widest puppy dog eyes she could, “Matty, Can you please buy us ice cream?”
He squinted, getting a feeling this was planned. “And why exactly do you guys deserve ice cream?”
“We've been super good this week and you love us and you are our favorite person in the whole wide world.” She exaggerated, gesturing her arm to be extended in a way of describing how big the world was.
He smirked, putting his hands on his hips, “Oh really, I'm your favorite person?” She nodded her head rapidly. “Yeah right, nice try kid.You said Theo was your favorite last week. Maybe next time.”
“But—“
“No buts. Now go back to playing, okay?”
“Enzo, can you pretty please buy us ice cream? We promise we’ll be good.” Stevie asked with a pout on his face, standing next to Katie who nodded her head next to him. She was originally supposed to be the one asking but became too shy when she found out she had to ask Lorenzo. She nervously stared at her velcro strawberry shortcake sneakers.
Lorenzo, who was cradling a younger kid in his arms, took a second to think. “I'm sorry kids, getting you guys ice cream is quite a big reward. How about this? I'll get you ice cream if you can be good for a whole month.” He suggested knowing they wouldn’t be able to achieve that.
“Pansy, can you get us ice cream?” Jacob was a handful, and still hadn't learned his manners completely yet.
Pansy raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. “No, not this week. Especially not after you hit Carrie with a bat.”
“I said sorry.” He spoke in a whiny tone.
She crouched down to be on his level. “Sometimes sorry isn't enough J. You need to learn from your mistakes and I can't just give you guys whatever you ask for.”
“Okay” He said defeatedly.
“Can you please buy us ice cream?” different children tried with the different workers.
Diego asked Theo.
“I'm sorry kid, I can't."
“Aren't you rich?”
Theo's jaw dropped in shock, not expecting it to come from one of the kid’s mouths.
Valentine asked Draco.
“No.”
“You suck.”
“Valentine!”
Justin asked Blaise. He was always attached to his hip.
“Not today, I don’t get my pay check till the end of the week.”
“But I'm your favorite.”
“Let's keep that between us.”
Judy asked Terence.
“Trust me. You don't want ice cream.”
“Why not.”
“Because it has crushed bugs in it.”
“Eww!!”
Manny asked Daphne.
“ No, but I'll let you watch a movie after I finish what I'm working on, okay?”
“Yayy.”
Katrina asked Lucian.
“ Kat, y'know I don't have money like the others.”
“Just get more money.”
“I wish it were that easy.”
Hana asked you.
“ Hana, that's a lot of ice cream to buy.”
“So? Theo buys you things all the time that look really fancy.”
“That’s different.”
“Is it?”
Finally Carter asked Adrian.
“Sure, I don't see why not.”
“Thank you thank you thank you.” The kid jumped into his arms giving him a big hug. He laughed, wrapping one of his arms around the kid while the other placed a block on a small tower as he was playing with one of the younger ones.
“No problem kid, I'll just have to ask the others if it's okay.” The young boy's face dropped.
3. Blaise the uncle
Justin had been attached to Blaise’s hip since his first day at daycare. Somehow it got in his head that Blaise was his uncle. He spent the entire first week sitting with Blaise, playing, coloring, learning. Often wrapping his arms around the man’s leg.
At first all the workers, including Blaise, thought he just really liked Blaise. Or maybe he had some strange aura that would make kids gravitate towards him either way they found it quite odd considering most kids would expand who they hung out with. Hanging around other kids.
It was the end of the first week and many kids were being picked up. Justin hugged Blaise's lower half before being picked up and being put in his car seat. A minute later the car window was rolled down and a squeaky voice was heard as the little kid waved. “Bye Uncle Blaise!”
Blaise waved back, not fully processing what the kid had said until he turned around. “ Wait, did Justin just call me Uncle?” he asked you confused.
You nodded a yes, with crinkled eyes as you chuckled behind your hand. Pansy came up from behind him, patting him on the shoulder.

In Eldoria, Mages hold the highest power, for they are the ones who possess the highest power. If a woman is born with magic in her veins, she is sent to the secluded tower known as Nightvale, a training camp for young mages, until she graduates with the knowledge that she needs to protect the realms.
You were born with said magic, it was identified at birth. So, like thousands of baby girls before you, you were sent to Nightvale, raised from infancy into a fully grown mage, possessing the powers able to defend. But what wasn't said before is the mage's keeper. Well, not technically the mage's keeper. That's just what you like to call your knight.
When mages graduate from Nightvale, they receive a knight, a sworn protector, making sure their powers cannot be manipulated or their compassion deceived.
Yours was named Paige.
knight!paige who would actually be really good at cooking. quite the opposite, you are absolutely horrid at it. oftentimes, the two of you end up off the beaten path in the forest, your horses tied up to a tree while you crouch around a fire together, kindled with paige's expertise. you were called throughout the kingdom often, tasked to various far off villages, so you found yourselves camping like this plenty of times. but paige could cook you up anything from absolutely nothing. and it always tasted so good
knight!paige pretends to be tough and nonchalant, but is secretly such a sweetheart. you've heard rumors of how terrifying in battle, but she absolutely showed a different side of herself as you got to know each other, no longer the feared warrior as you heard. she carries your books, fixes your cloak if it falls off and even sleeps a bit lighter than you (especially camping) in case you have nightmares or if there's danger. every town that you visit expects paige to be the mean one and you the nice one, but in fact, it's the opposite. you're always the one threatening to turn merchants into toads while she's apologizing, begging for your mercy.
knight!paige who becomes super jealous when men start asking for your hand, begging to be your sutors. it isn't until one of them touches you that she's absolutely reeling, snatching their hand off you as if it's plagued and drawing you back. "sorry, the mage has business elsewhere."
knight!paige who has a collection of charms you've made her over the years. a protection charm, a good luck charm, one that keeps her socks dry, and she claims that they don't work, but she refuses to part with them.
knight!paige who has such a soft spot for animals, you find this out when you wake up to discover three stray cats asleep on top of her while she's too afraid to move.
knight!paige who has absolutely fallen asleep in your room instead of her own because "it's closer if something happens."
knight!paige who starts doing things that aren't technically part of her duty anymore. she still walks beside you, still keeps watch while you sleep, and still carries your books, but now she's picking wildflowers because you once mentioned you liked them. if she spots a bookstore in town, she'll somehow find an excuse to pass by it, attempting to find a book that might interest you.
knight!paige who begins to call you by "my mage," and then it slowly morphs into your name, which you don't correct
knight!paige who has never taken her armor off around you... until one night. for years, she'd never been without it in your presence, until one evening you notice her slouching against a tree trunk. it's one of those camping nights, long and hot in the woods. her cheeks are turning red as she practically pants.
"you don't have to stay armored around me, you know."
she raises a quizzical eyebrow at you.
"you can take it off,"
and begrudgingly, she does. she sighs and begins undoing the buckles.
knight!paige who has stopped sleeping on the floor of your room, but has moved to your bed
knight!paige who absolutely panics the first time someone mistakes the two of you for a married couple.
"oh, your wife is very talented."
you nearly choke on your drink as paige's face turns red. but, neither of you correct them.

The stone corridors of Hogwarts at midnight were notoriously unforgiving, but to you, the chill beneath your bare soles felt like walking on frozen starlight.
Holding a single, flickering candle in one hand and a half-eaten starfruit in the other, you hummed a tuneless melody. Your robes drifted around your ankles, noticeably lighter without the weight of your missing Mary Janes.
"What in Merlin’s name do you think you are doing?"
The sharp, low whisper cut through the silence. You turned around, your candle casting a warm glow over Theodore Nott. He was standing there in his perfectly pressed Slytherin robes, his Prefect badge gleaming under the moonlight, looking entirely too severe for a Thursday night. His dark brows were knitted in a familiar, exasperated scowl.
"Oh, hello, Theo," you said, your voice airy, carrying that distinct, dreamlike cadence. "I’m looking for Barney and Beatrice."
Theo pinched the bridge of his nose, exhaling a long, tired sigh. He closed the distance between you in three long strides. "Who the hell are Barney and Beatrice? If you’ve smuggled more illegal magical creatures into the castle, I swear—"
"They’re my shoes, Theo," you interrupted gently, tilting your head. "And they’re not creatures, though they do have very distinct personalities. Someone put them somewhere dark, you see. Barnaby is terribly terrified of dark. . He gets claustrophobic in tight, unlit spaces, and Beatrice is a hopeless romantic—she’ll probably try to elope with a rogue Slytherin boot if she stays out too long."
Theo stared at you. For a solid ten seconds, the only sound was the distant wailing of the wind outside. He looked down at your bare, pale feet against the cold, dusty stone floor, then back up to your serene face.
"You’re completely mad," he muttered, though the harshness in his voice had entirely melted away, replaced by a defeated sort of fondness. "Your feet are practically blue, beloved."
"They're just absorbing the moonlight—"
Before you could finish your sentence, the candle in your hand tilted as Theo suddenly stepped in and scooped you up. You let out a soft, delighted “Oh!” as your feet left the cold floor, your arms instinctively wrapping around his neck to steady yourself. The candle flickered precariously but stayed lit.
Theo smelled like old parchment, rain, and the faint, bitter scent of the peppermint toads he always kept in his pockets. He carried you easily, his grip firm and protective, his face carefully schooled into a scowl to mask the faint pink dusting his cheeks.
"Where are we going?" you asked, leaning your head against his shoulder, unbothered by his grumpy demeanor.
"Somewhere that isn't a freezing hallway," Theo grumbled, walking down the corridor toward an empty, moonlit classroom. "You're a hazard to yourself. Do you ever think about the Nargles, or whatever it is your sister goes on about, catching you by the toes?"
"Luna says toes are very resilient," you murmured, blowing out the candle since the moonlight through the tall glass windows was enough. "But thank you, Theo. Your aura is a very warm shade of amber tonight. Like a cozy fireplace."
"My aura is annoyed," he corrected flatly, though he didn't put you down even after entering the classroom. Instead, he sat down on a wide windowsill, keeping you securely on his lap.
With a flick of his wand, his heavy, velvet Slytherin cloak unclasped from his shoulders. Without a word, he wrapped it tightly around your legs and bare feet, tucking you into a warm, green cocoon. His large, warm hands gently rubbed your ankles to bring the circulation back.
"Tell me who took them," Theo demanded, his dark eyes locking onto yours, deadly serious. "I don't care if it was a Gryffindor prank or some idiots from my own house. Give me names."
You smiled, reaching out a hand to trace the tense line of his jaw. "I don't know their names. But they had very muddy thoughts. Don't worry, I told them that Barnaby carries a mild hex that makes the thief's ears grow purple mushrooms. They'll probably return them out of fear."
Theo let out a dry, breathy chuckle, his hand coming up to catch yours, pressing a soft kiss into your palm. "You're ridiculous. But just in case your purple mushroom curse doesn't work..." He leaned in, his lips brushing against your temple. "...I'll tear the castle apart tomorrow until I find them. No one makes my girl walk on cold stone."
You hummed happily, snuggling closer into his chest, completely enveloped in his warmth. "Beatrice will appreciate that. She always said you were a knight in dark armor."
"Shut up and go to sleep, darling," Theo whispered affectionately, his arms tightening around you as he looked out into the night, already planning exactly which common rooms he was going to ransack at dawn.
☾
The next morning, the Slytherin common room was abnormally quiet. Usually, Friday mornings were filled with the loud grumblings of students dragging themselves to breakfast, but today, everyone was walking on eggshells.
Theodore Nott was sitting by the emerald-lit fireplace, calmly polishing his wand with a silk cloth. He hadn't touched his breakfast. He hadn't spoken a word. But the dark, suffocating aura radiating from his corner was enough to keep even Draco Malfoy from complaining about his hair.
"Alright, who did it?" Theo’s voice cut through the room, smooth, quiet, and terrifying.
Blaise Zabini raised an eyebrow from across the room. "Did what, mate?"
"Someone took something that belongs to my girl," Theo said, finally lifting his dark eyes. They were completely devoid of warmth. "A pair of shoes. Mary Janes. Small. If they aren’t on the table in front of me in the next sixty seconds, I’m going to start casting Diffindo on every single luxury broom kit in this dungeons."
A collective gasp echoed through the room. Two third-year Slytherin girls in the corner suddenly went pale as milk. They whispered frantically to each other before one of them, trembling, stepped forward and placed a neat, brown paper bag on the table.
"W-we didn't mean anything by it, Nott," she stammered, her eyes darting to his wand. "We just found them near the trophy room. We didn't know they were hers."
"You knew," Theo whispered, standing up. He picked up the bag, looking inside to see your missing shoes—Barney and Beatrice—perfectly intact. He threw the girls a look so cold it could have frozen the Black Lake. "If I ever see either of you so much as breathe in her direction again, you’ll find out exactly what kind of curses my father taught me before he went to Azkaban. Get out of my sight."
The girls scrambled out of the common room like frightened Kneazles.
Ten minutes later, the Great Hall was bustling with the usual breakfast chaos. You were sitting at the Ravenclaw table, peacefully spreading pumpkin jam on a piece of toast, entirely unbothered by the fact that you were still wearing mismatched, brightly colored socks instead of shoes. Luna was sitting next to you, pointing at a newspaper article about Umgubular Blatscoots.
"Your left foot looks very poetic today," Luna noted dreamily.
"Thank you, Luna. I think the left sock is enjoying the extra attention," you replied with a bright smile.
Suddenly, the chatter around your section of the table died down. A heavy, familiar shadow fell over you.
You looked up to see Theo standing there. He looked incredibly handsome, his uniform immaculate, though his tie was slightly loosened. Without saying a word to the staring Ravenclaws around you, he knelt down on one knee right on the stone floor next to your bench.
From behind his back, he produced the brown paper bag. He reached inside, gently taking hold of your left foot, and slid the first shoe—Barney—onto your foot.
"He's a bit shaken up," Theo murmured, his voice dropping into that low, private register meant only for you. "But I checked. No dark-phobia trauma. He’s fine."
You let out a soft, delighted laugh, your heart doing a little flip at the sight of this untouchable, cynical Slytherin boy completely humbling himself at your feet. "And Beatrice?"
Theo smiled—a rare, genuine thing that made a few nearby Gryffindor girls choke on their pumpkin juice—as he slipped the second shoe onto your right foot. "Beatrice didn't elope with any rogue boots. She was very well-behaved."
He buckled the straps with practiced gentleness, his thumbs lightly brushing over your ankles before he finally stood up. He reached out, his large hand gently tapping the tip of your nose.
"Keep them on, my dear," Theo muttered affectionately, though he tried to shoot a warning glare at the surrounding students who were whispering. "I don't fancy spending every morning interrogating my housemates."
"You're a very efficient knight, Theo," you beamed, reaching up to snag a piece of bacon from your plate and offering it to him. "Your aura is a beautiful shade of triumphant gold today."
Theo took the bacon with a defeated sigh, rolling his eyes but keeping his hand securely intertwined with yours for a brief, heavy squeeze before he had to walk away. "Just eat your toast, you lunatic. I’ll see you after Potions."

• you and Blaise spending all day decorating the walls for Christmas only for one of the kids to tell you two it was really ugly(they were in a bad mood) it made you both very sad. He ended up hiding in a corner, scrolling on his phone while mumbling rude thoughts. While you went into the arms of Theo for the rest of the day.
• Pansy slapping your ass out of habit, one of the kids saw and started to try and do the same to his friends. Lets say it was a rough day for everyone.
• Draco kept receiving apology gifts for all he has suffered which he accepted very confusedly. (you had started a craft project for the kids to make apology gifts for him because you knew he had a bad day the previous day.)
• Terence and you being called ken and barbie for a whole month after one of the kids made a joke. Theo was not happy about it. (note: this does not imply the reader is blonde, its for diff reason)
• you and Adrian breaking the number one rule of daycare, playing hide and seek. you ended up losing a kid and you two found the kid in a storage closet. it had been all day she had been hiding. you two chose to never mention it to the others so you wouldn’t get fired.
• Lucian giving you piggy back rides all around the place because he was tired about hearing you complain about your feet hurting
• Daphne and you wearing matching makeup. It first started off as you guys just happening to pick the same colors till eventually you just ended up sharing what you were gonna do.

Rushing to the door upon hearing the doorbell ring every Wednesday had become a common occurrence. Knocking things over clumsily as your socks slid against the wooden flooring of your house had, unfortunately for your parents, also become a weekly activity. It was the summer which already had its perks, but of course it being the first summer Dean Thomas was your boyfriend was the cherry on top. You were extremely ecstatic to see him, seeing as you had found a brand new thing to obsess over. That being a new toy that had just come out named Littlest Pet Shop.
You swiftly opened the door, seeing your charming boyfriend standing with his backpack hanging over his shoulder filled with extra clothing, hygiene products, and random stuff of his own.
“That was awfully quick. I've got to say, it almost seems like you were waiting at the door for me.” Dean gave you a grin.
“Waiting at the door? No, but I do happen to have an extra boost of speed when you come over.”
“Yeah?” he said, giving you a knowing smirk. He knew more than anyone just what a simple word could do to you, making you weak in the knees. You twirled around, leading him to your bedroom but also hiding the growing smile he had caused. You had been together nearly more than half the year, but you still got nervous and giddy around him.
Unopened boxes lay across the carpeted floor of your colorful bedroom. You had held back your excitement in order to share the moment of opening something new with your boyfriend.
“So I've got something for us to open.” you dragged him down to the ground, sitting crisscross.
It was no surprise to Dean that you had found a new toy to like. When first meeting you in charms class he overheard you talking to your friends about little figurines you had back at home. Once he knew you better, he had come to find out that you were a collector of many trinkets. He admired your passion to enjoy what you loved without reason. Having his own interest in action figures which hardly anyone knew besides Neville and Seamus. He just couldn’t help himself when he saw a figure of his favorite comic book character. That being said, he always was astonished by the many decorated shelves of your kickknacks. He seemed to find something new every time he had seen them.
He turned to look at you, with adoration painted across his face. “Let's do it, but first, look what I got.”
Dean unzipped his backpack, pulling out a spiderman action figure. It was the most recent design that was limited edition. He had scrambled to the stores just to find it before it went out of stock. It may have cost him a shit ton of money, but he couldn’t care less. Your jaw dropped when seeing it as you knew this was all he had been talking about for the past week.
“I can't believe you were actually able to get it.”
“As if I could lose to the 11 year olds who didn’t even notice the difference between the old one and the remodel.” the two of you laughed at how ridiculous it sounded.
Dean scooted over towards you, closing the space as you both unboxed the lps. A cd was playing a mixtape of the two of yours favorite songs, sending soft waves of sound into the serene atmosphere. The birds chirped outside the window, Dean noticing the way you ripped the boxes apart recklessly, excited to see which one you had gotten out of the many possibilities. He then looked down to see his carefully opened packages.
It was always the small details that got him lost in thought. He had always believed that the two of you balanced each other out. When he was somewhat dismissive you were overly concerned towards the subject. When you were carefree, he was overthinking everything.
Where he would sit back and watch nervously and regretfully, you would stand up and fight for what you believed in. Where he would take small bites of his cookie to savor it, your bites would consume nearly the whole entire sweet. When he would listen to his music quietly as just background so he could still hear what was around him, you would blast yours being fully consumed by the melodies and lyricism of the artist. Though you always seemed to be on slightly different wavelengths, you still met in the middle.
He couldn't help but think of how perfect you felt for him. He admired the beauty of not only you but of the bond you two shared. So, whenever he noticed the small ways you two were opposites, he believed it meant something more. You were on the other side of the balance scale, weighing just as much as he did in all the right ways. Making his life feel easy.
Once the two of you were done, you set the tiny figures into the miniature dollhouse you decorated.
“Well shall we get to playing?” you spoke as you switched the cd out to play some oldies.
His gaze rested on your figure before he blinked back into reality, “Play? I thought we were just opening them.”
“What? You think I'm just opening them just to have? No! Come on, you can add your spidey into it too. I promise it'll be fun.”
“Fine, but can we get a snack first please. I think I deserve a reward for cramping my hands opening your little animals.” he said with hints of truth because he really did have an ache in his hand.
You sat closely on the dining room stools, watching your mom make cookies. Your head rested against his shoulder, his grip on your hand had been light but unmoving. He loved gently tracing the creases on your fingers and the way his hand had always been slightly bigger than yours. It made him feel like your protector, though he knew deep down you had always been his. Not necessarily physically, but he always felt at peace emotionally when you had been with him.
You raised your head and pressed your lips to his cheek. He turned his head in your direction, corners of his lips curving. He placed one on your nose, then angled his mouth towards yours, smiling into the kiss.
“You know, preferably I'd want you to do that in your room,” your mom spoke with a playful smirk on.
The two of you pulled away awkwardly, so in the moment you had forgotten she was right in front of you on the other side of the kitchen island.
“Right, sorry,” he said, embarrassed by the situation.
“No need,” your mom said before sliding a plate of cookies towards the two of you.
“Don’t eat them too fast,” she spoke in a motherly tone as the two of you headed back towards your room with the plate.
Once you and Dean had a few cookies, you placed the plate aside and focused on the task at hand. Making a plot for your future entertainment. What you had discussed so far was the new cat figure you got being a robber who also happened to be Spiderman's best friend. He had to decide what to do with his criminal friend. The cat had to decide whether to take the side of spidey or to follow through with his villain boss’ wishes who was a snake.
You suggested the snake’s name be mattheo, referring to Mattheo Riddle, your classmate you were convinced was evil. Mainly because he 100% stole your green turtle shaped stone in your first year, you didn't care much for it, but you were bothered by his theft. You would have given in to him if he just asked, but he didn’t. Dean begged for you to allow him to play the cat, which you of course let him.
Glancing up at each other in the dimlit room you painted his cute dimples as he painted his favorite feature of yours. Deciding to paint each other while you watched a movie was just another thing you did to pass time. One of your friends had owled you, telling you all about how her and her girlfriend had painted each other which ended in a disaster. You offered the idea to Dean to which he accepted it.
“This isn't too bad actually, I'm pretty proud of this.” his thin-tipped brush stroked the canvas as he added the highlights of your faces.
“If you turn that around and I see a troll, I will throw this pillow at you.”
“Hey, nothing’s wrong with looking like a trol—OW! I haven't even showed it to you yet.”
“You didn't have to.” you said glaring at him, yet there was a glint of something in your eyes saying you were enjoying yourself.
“Today was good.” you two laid on your bed, cuddled underneath the warm blankets. His arm snuck around your body, as he pulled you in tighter.
