⚡  Zenitsu looks up from the little gardening book he borrowed from the library. Even though he has been distracted with the various modern methods of verticutting, he caught her question. I should start charging money for every person wanting to pet Chuntaro. But… she’s pretty. She can pet her for free~

“Sure, go ahead.”

The ever curious shardbinder reached out for the sparrow, hesitance keeping it from fully closing the gap. She had been granted permission but it was still difficult to use it. Sighing, Miriam steadied her resolve. 

“I must have terrible manners, pets are so new to me.”

    The first thing he noticed about this young lady was how attractive she looked. The isles seem to have a preference for attractive, colorful characters in general, himself included. The second thing he noticed was the cross-like stone seemingly grafted onto her exposed back, though it did little to mar her skin.

    “I bet that has a story behind it, huh?” he suddenly stated, curiosity getting the better of him. “Would you mind telling me? Maybe over a drink or two?”

Some kept themselves away from her due to her appearance. Finding someone brave enough to approach and even extend an invitation of sorts took her by surprise, though it was a tad pleasant to know herself as someone not entirely intimidating. Even if the topic about her shards was a bit too much for a first meeting. 

“What do you mean? This is just the latest trend in France.” 

An uncomfortable pause followed, her hands waving nervously at the same time. Miriam was not that good of a joker. Her lips turn into a thin line, her awkward smile vanishing and leaving a more composed one instead. She wasn’t fooling anyone, honesty was her only choice now.

Miriam was looking in a daze at the bird on his shoulder, her eyes twinkling curiously. People were capable of creating such strong bonds with animals, which she had not experienced at all in her life. She might have been able to summon demons and keep familiars to fight with her but she wished to pet a puppy or any sort of smaller creature, one that was not from hell itself preferably. 

Maybe this was her chance.

First Interactions / Break the Ice

“I look... pale?” She seems visibly confused, if only for a brief moment. It was true the sun had not graced her with its rays enough but... did it give her such a sickly appearance? Miriam shook her head, mustering a smile to return the stranger’s kindness. 

“I’m fine, I don’t need to go anywhere.” 

Yet, her words went completely ignored. She was finding herself being dragged into the opposite direction. 

She was trying to be kind but often found difficulty when approaching touchy subjects, her concern was not unfounded yet felt wrong to be merely throwing her own opinion like nothing. A visibly sickly and injured girl was outside of what looked like some type of housing. A tall building, with many windows and likely many inhabitants as a result. 

“Uh, should you... really be out right now by yourself?” 

From overhearing conversations of island-dwellers, Miriam was aware some great catastrophe had occurred recently in the island. Some rubble was still here and there, constructions midst repair and just a sight that wasn’t quite welcoming. 

“My apologies, I’ll leave.” Miriam had repeated these words several times today and she stopped keeping record by the instant she reached the tenth. Her face offered a most reserved expression as she continued bowing to the people around in Fibonnaci’s ward level 4. 

Exploring the entire area where her housing was located (from top to the bottom) had not been such a fantastic idea but without familiarising herself, she was worried such choice would eventually come back to bite her. Somehow, the people in such high-end area were the most unfriendly. Nothing new, centuries may change but not how others treated everyone else.

“You don’t have to remove me, I can walk by myself.” 

However, some were certainly more brash. She was struggling with a certain stubborn store guard. Hurting him was out of question, she could only try to pry herself away from the grasp. Making a scene by harming a person... she was inclined to behave for now.

gebel’s words reassured her humanity and she had kept them close till now

spent 10 years in a coma, initially a mystery but it was actually to save her life and prevent the demons to be brought upon the world

as the only surviving shardbinder besides gebel, she took upon herself to stop the demons and gebel as well
