Dangerous texts
Auguries, author unknown. If you find a copy, keep it in a lead-lined box, hermetically sealed (both against air and with hermetic magic). Then drop it in a deep lake or something.
Canticum putei abyssi, M. Rianas. Associated with the strong smell of rotting seaweed and salt water, it is imperative that if there is even the slightest hint of encountering this text, run. Run, and don’t go anywhere near any liquid water for at least 40 hours. If you read any of the book’s contents, surround yourself with a ring of candles or other fire - lest the effects of the book manifest in the surface of your eyes.
Yvtug, author unknown. Obvious, by the blinding light it continually emits. Analysis by an acquaintance of mine who can stand such things has determined that it is a story about the ‘King of Stars’, a sentient sun who ate the souls of everything his light fell upon. What this says about the light emitted by the tome is uncertain, but its surface is hot enough to melt lead.
Cthon’s Eye, author unknown. Warning. Exposure to this novel and the deadly truths held within will make your eyelids fuse together and your eyeballs to begin the process of atrophy after only a few seconds. I believe this is an attempt by either your body or the Incandescent Law to prevent you taking any of the information in. Loss of pigmentation across all surfaces with a clear line of sight to the volume is strange, but not immediately dangerous. You will forget that you had eyes, and what having sight was like. Not the best feeling.
